Chapter 967 - 964: Sorry for Making You Feel Wronged, Part 2
Chapter 967: Chapter 964: Sorry for Making You Feel Wronged, Part 2
Tong Xiaohua was filled with curiosity about this courtyard that was completely different from the Tong Family’s style, "Like my house?"
When Tong Xiaohua took Yan Bo for a walk around Tong village, she had told him that some of the buildings in Tong village were over a hundred years old.
Yan Bo compared them secretly, "Yeah, they should be about the same."
Actually, the Yan Family and the Tong Family were indeed quite similar.
Both had generations following similar professions and had gone farther and farther down that road.
The difference was that the paths the two families took were diametrically opposed, one was in legitimate business, the other was in the gangster world.
"You must have been very naughty as a child, right?"
Tong Xiaohua remembered Tao Jia saying that Yan Bo had always been the king of kids from his childhood to his adulthood.
Yan Bo bent down and plucked a small, unknown flower from the flowers beside him, handing it to Tong Xiaohua.
"Where do you see that I was very naughty?"
Tong Xiaohua tilted her head, her smiling eyes roamed over him a few times.
"It’s obvious everywhere, you are the kind that looks gentle and harmless on the surface, but actually full of mischief inside."
Undeniably, Tong Xiaohua was initially deceived by Yan Bo’s gentle appearance.
However, before she fell for him, she had already noticed his cunning nature and thus had no resistance to this aspect of him.
The two of them walked around the courtyard, talking mostly about the amusing incidents from Yan Bo’s childhood.
Including the times when he went to the barracks with his older brother at a very young age, and how he often skipped grades since primary school...
Some of these things Tong Xiaohua had heard about in passing from Yan Bo, and there were others she had never heard of before.
Compared to Tong Xiaohua’s childhood memories, Yan Bo’s upbringing was undoubtedly much more colorful.
The two of them walked back and forth in the courtyard unknowingly for several rounds, until Uncle Cui came to find them, and only then did the two young people realize it was getting late.
"Third Young Master, will you be having dinner at home?"
Yan Mom’s words to Yan Bo and Tong Xiaohua were naturally unknown to Uncle Cui, so he specifically came to ask Yan Bo.
"Yes, we’ll eat at home."
Although they might not be able to eat their fill, they had to at least try.
Uncle Cui returned to the main house from the courtyard, just in time to meet Yan Mom coming out from the bedroom.
"Madam, we have four people for dinner, correct?"
Yan Mom was a bit puzzled, "Four people? Isn’t it just Old Ye and me?"
"The Third Young Master and Miss Tong are still out in the courtyard taking a walk and chatting, I just went to ask, and the Third Young Master said they would have dinner at home."
Yan Mom’s brows slightly furrowed, "They’ve been out there the whole time?"
Uncle Cui nodded, "Yes, madam, here’s the menu for tonight, please take a look."
Yan Mom didn’t take the menu, instead walked out towards the courtyard.
"Madam, about the dinner..."
"Anything will do!" Yan Mom dropped these words and quickly left.
After Yan Mom walked out, she stopped at the front of the corridor.
In the pavilion dozens of meters away, the two young people were teasing the family’s tabby cat with a stick.
That tabby cat was brought back by Yan Bo when he was a child, and from Yan Zhong to Yan Yuan and Yan Su in the family, nobody liked small animals, only Yan Bo, the youngest son, cherished the cat like a treasure.
While teasing the cat, the two young people were chatting about something; from their tone, it was clear that the conversation was lighthearted, and from time to time, the sound of their cheerful laughter could be heard.
Yan Mom stood there, silently watching for nearly ten minutes, and in the end, without saying anything, she turned and went back inside the house.
"Madam, Old Ye called to say that he will be home about ten minutes later than usual."
Yan Zhong, though holding a high position, had very traditional family responsibilities and concepts. If he was too busy to come home or would come home late, he would always take the initiative to make a phone call to inform his family.
"Understood!"
Mrs. Yan sat down on the sofa and casually turned on the television.
Uncle Cui turned to leave, but then he heard the rustling sound of the television mixed with Mrs. Yan’s clear voice.
"Doesn’t he know about Xiao Bo coming back?"
He, of course, referred to Yan Zhong.
"The third young master said he wanted to give Old Ye a surprise..."
Uncle Cui stood still, waiting for Mrs. Yan’s instructions.
Usually, no matter which young master or miss came home, Uncle Cui would certainly inform Yan Zhong. No matter how busy he was, Yan Zhong would always try to make time to see his children.
However, today Yan Bo had specifically instructed him not to mention it, so Uncle Cui didn’t bring it up to Yan Zhong.
"Alright, if you didn’t mention it, let it be."
There would certainly not be a surprise, more like a shock.
Mrs. Yan thought thus, picked a channel at random, and began watching with distracted attention.
When Yan Zhong returned home, it was already dark. Yan Bo and Tong Xiaohua had come back to the main house from the courtyard, washed their hands, and were now helping to bring out the dishes.
As soon as Yan Zhong entered the house, Yan Bo hurriedly greeted him, "Dad, you’re back?"
Yan Zhong responded, while at the same time undoing the buttons of his coat and glancing at his younger son.
"How come you didn’t give advance notice when you came back?"
Yan Zhong thought that his younger son had come back to discuss a loan from the bank with him.
But his assumption was quickly proven wrong.
"Just so happens Xiaohua and I both had some free time, so I brought her back to meet you all."
Yan Zhong’s hands, working the buttons, stopped, his dark eyes fixed on his younger son.
"Brought who?" Two simple words conveyed an unspoken pressure that rolled towards Yan Bo.
Yan Bo was long accustomed to his dad’s formidable presence, steadied his spirit, and said, "Dad, I brought my girlfriend Xiaohua back to meet you."
After speaking, Yan Bo turned and gestured to Tong Xiaohua, who had just walked out from the dining room, "Xiaohua, come here."
Tong Xiaohua had just helped carry the soup to the dining room and was about to go to the kitchen to fetch other dishes; when she heard Yan Bo calling her, she looked over and immediately saw that man of authority that she sometimes saw on television.
That man’s gaze followed Yan Bo’s call and looked over. Even though the distance was great, Tong Xiaohua could still feel the powerful pressure rushing toward her like a tidal wave.
A rush of cold air soared from the tips of her feet all the way up, her subconscious wanted to flee, but her rationality told her she could not back down now.
She took a deep breath, and with big strides, ran towards the strong pressure.
"Dad, this is Xiaohua."
The man stared at her unblinkingly, silent, his facial expression unchanged.
Tong Xiaohua’s heart trembled, but she still mustered the courage to bow to the man, "Uncle, hello! My name is Tong Xiaohua!"
The man gave her another look, said nothing, withdrew his gaze, took off his coat, handed it to Yan Bo, and then, with big strides, walked into the bedroom.
He left Yan Bo and Tong Xiaohua looking at each other helplessly in the entrance hall.
Tong Xiaohua, completely ignored, took a while to recover and managed to squeeze out a wry smile towards Yan Bo.
Yan Bo’s heart felt as if it was being tightly clamped by iron tongs. He extended his hand and gently held her in his embrace.
"Xiaohua, I’m sorry!"
Tong Xiaohua rested her chin on his shoulder and shook her head slightly, "It’s okay, we’ll take it slow!"
