Chapter 946: Chapter 943: Boyfriend’s Childhood Friend

Yan Bo didn’t pay attention to him and signaled everyone with his hands to wait for him for a moment, and then he took the phone and walked out.

"No one said anything; it was just my mom who, after her walk this morning, suddenly asked me to tell you that if you’re having trouble with cash flow, you can talk to her about it."

Tong Xiaohua wasn’t so straightforwardly naïve with others, but in front of Yan Bo, she naturally became the kind who spoke her mind as she was doing now.

However, this was exactly what Yan Bo liked about her.

In his world, people had long been accustomed to speaking in riddles, and those who showered you with flattery might very well be the ones to stab you in the back when you least expect it. But Tong Xiaohua was completely candid with him, without a hint of ulterior motives, which made him feel at ease and also gave him a sense of happiness that comes from being fully trusted.

"So that’s how it is, I thought you’d heard some rumor somewhere. The company’s funds have been a bit tight lately, but it’s not so bad that we’re having cash flow problems. In a few days, we’ll receive an advance payment for an infrastructure project, and then, our finances will be quite comfortable. Please thank Aunt Tong for me, and when I need help, I won’t be shy with you guys."

Tong Xiaohua visibly relaxed, "Okay, that’s good. Actually, if you really need cash flow, I have quite a bit on hand, just let me know directly if you need it."

Yan Bo laughed, "I know, it’s like I’ve found myself a girlfriend sitting on a gold mine."

Before, such words from Yan Bo might have been mostly in jest, but ever since he spent a round at the casino with Tong Xiaohua the previous night, he realized that the estimations of the Tong Family’s properties and assets in the investigation data were vastly underrepresented compared to reality.

"You only just realized it! You better treat me well from now on, got it? Otherwise, if you anger me, I’ll make sure you are crushed under my mountain of gold, never to rise again."

Tong Xiaohua, knowing Yan Bo’s company was running smoothly and facing no financial difficulties, happily joked with him.

Yan Bo had a room full of people waiting for him, so after chatting with her for a few minutes, he hung up the phone in a hurry.

Despite it being lunchtime, Tong Xiaohua still called her mother.

On the phone, Tong’s mom, upon hearing that Yan Bo’s company had no financial issues, relaxed just like Tong Xiaohua had.

Tong Xiaohua and Yan Bo, as usual, were extremely busy, but they both found time to see each other every day amidst their hectic schedules.

Sometimes, they met outside for dinner, and occasionally, Yan Bo would join Tong Xiaohua for a meal at the Tong Family’s home.

Because of the comic book series, Tong’s eldest brother’s disposition had softened quite a bit, and then, through Yan Bo’s introduction, he met a well-known collector in Capital City.

On Friday, he took Mom Tong and flew to Capital City, where they planned to visit the collector’s private museum to broaden their horizons.

Although Tao Jia had planned to come to L City on Saturday, she emerged from the gate Saturday morning, just past ten o’clock.

Yan Bo, who had the flight information ahead of time, was standing outside with Tong Xiaohua, waiting for her.

"Jiajia, over here!"

As Tao Jia stood amidst the crowd, looking around, Yan Bo called out to her and walked over with Tong Xiaohua.

Tong Xiaohua, both curious and nervous, had sweaty palms as she held Yan Bo’s hand.

Feeling Tong Xiaohua’s anxiousness, Yan Bo looked down at her with a smile and said, "Silly girl, there’s no need to be nervous. She’s quite the simpleton, and with just a bit of cunning on your part, you could sell her easily."

It wasn’t that Yan Bo was trying to flatter Tong Xiaohua; rather, Tao Jia’s IQ simply couldn’t compare with hers.

Tong Xiaohua’s disadvantage lay in the limited education she received as a child, which is why she seemed outclassed in the eyes of others.

But having taught her himself for so long, Yan Bo was very familiar with her ability to understand and learn.

Tong Xiaohua lifted her eyelids and gave him a reproachful look, "Nice, talking about your good friend like that. It wouldn’t be nice if she heard you."

The two whispered to each other and had already approached Tao Jia.

Tao Jia was very outgoing. From the moment she saw Yan Bo walking over with Tong Xiaohua, her gaze stuck to Tong Xiaohua without shifting away.

As they got closer, she stepped forward, and before Tong Xiaohua could react, Tao Jia had opened her arms and hugged her.

"Xiao Hua, hello! I’m your boyfriend’s childhood friend, Tao Jia."

Tao Jia was of average height, but Tong Xiaohua was tall among women. Being hugged by someone half a head shorter felt strange to her, and though she wanted to say something, she couldn’t find the right words. When Tao Jia let her go, she extended her hand and smiled at Tao Jia.

"Jiajia, hello! Welcome!"

Tao Jia looked at her and then at Yan Bo, and then burst into laughter, "Xiao Hua, you can just call me Jiajia. Calling me ’sister’ makes me sound old, and that doesn’t make me happy."

Xiao Hua glanced at Yan Bo, who nodded at her with a smile, "That’s right, just call her Jiajia. Her mental age is definitely not as old as yours."

Tao Jia didn’t mind Yan Bo’s teasing at all, "That just shows I have a good mentality, a youthful spirit."

The bodyguards that had accompanied Tong Xiaohua to pick up Tao Jia took over her luggage.

Like Yan Bo, when in Capital City, Tao Jia always had one or two bodyguards with her when she went out. Therefore, she assumed the bodyguard was Yan Bo’s bodyguard and driver, and didn’t think much of it.

After handing over her luggage to the bodyguard, Tao Jia, ignoring Yan Bo, hooked her arm with Tong Xiaohua’s and hurried away.

"Yan Bo, I’m borrowing Xiao Hua for a bit."

Yan Bo was used to her forward personality and didn’t find it strange, so he followed behind them at a leisurely pace without trying to catch up forcefully.

Tong Xiaohua, although taken away without understanding why, didn’t struggle; after all, Tao Jia was a guest and also Yan Bo’s good friend.

"Xiao Hua, I want to discuss something with you."

Ever since seeing Tong Xiaohua, Tao Jia’s gaze clung to her like cowhide candy, scanning her up and down with an x-ray-like intensity without any attempt to conceal it.

Tong Xiaohua was not used to being so intimately scrutinized by the same sex. Even her relatively good senior, Xiao Mi, had never looked at her as openly and bare as Tao Jia did.

"You say..."

Tong Xiaohua was starting to understand why Yan Bo said Tao Jia was quite silly.

Because Tao Jia appeared to have absolutely no guard up against her.

"Can you be my model?" Tao Jia asked with a look full of expectation.

"Model?" Tong Xiaohua was bewildered.

Tao Jia gave her a look and pouted, "Didn’t that guy Yan Bo tell you? I’m a student of the Fine Art Department, and lately, I’ve been troubled by not finding a suitable model. You are the incarnation of the perfect model I’ve been dreaming of!"

As Tao Jia spoke, her gaze at Tong Xiaohua turned passionate.

Now Tong Xiaohua finally understood why Tao Jia’s gaze was so blunt and straightforward. So, she was a painter?

"But..."

Before Tong Xiaohua could voice her refusal, Tao Jia cut her off, "It’s okay, we can chat more about it later, no rush!"
