Chapter 903: Chapter 900 Come Over to Keep You Company

Tong Xiaohua got into the car with her parents, and immediately asked anxiously, "Dad, Mom, do you think Yan Bo’s older brother doesn’t like me?"

Mr. Tong and Mrs. Tong exchanged a glance and feigned indignation, "Nonsense, my daughter is loved by everyone she meets—why wouldn’t he like you?"

Tong Xiaohua smiled and didn’t ask any further.

Because she knew that even if her parents had noticed something, they wouldn’t discuss it in front of her.

"Besides, what era are we living in now? Parents can hardly stop their children’s freedom to love, let alone, he’s just an older brother."

Actually, this was truly what Mr. Tong believed in his heart.

Of course, it would be best if their daughter were liked by everyone in the Yan Family; even if not, he was willing to believe that Yan Bo had the ability to give his daughter a beautiful future.

After all, looking at Yan Bo’s trajectory over the years, he definitely wasn’t a man who wished to live under his father’s shadow.

Such a man, strong and independent,

This strength and independence were enough to support his career and love life.

"Xiao Hua, your dad is right, trust Xiao Yan."

Mrs. Tong, having been by Mr. Tong’s side all these years, had met countless people, and her opinion was essentially in line with Mr. Tong’s.

The reassurances from the parents did not comfort Tong Xiaohua much.

Still, she wasn’t a pessimist. Before the car had reached home, she had already come to terms with it.

After all, she was only eighteen—very young. If his family truly didn’t like her, then she could just slowly win them over!

With this realization, when she received a call from Yan Bo that evening, she refrained from inquiring about his brother’s opinion of her.

The two spoke intimately as usual, and Yan Bo, having not been alone with her for several days, invited her to his house for lunch the next day.

"Aunt Xin made a few new dishes. Do you want to come and try them out tomorrow at noon?"

Tong Xiaohua thought for a moment. Since her parents came back, she indeed hadn’t had the chance to meet Yan Bo alone.

"Okay, I need to accompany my mom in the morning. I’ll arrive around eleven, is that okay?"

"Sure, if you want to eat anything else, you can also text me tomorrow."

...

"Dad, Mom, I’ve made lunch plans with Yan Bo today. I won’t be coming back for lunch."

During breakfast, Tong Xiaohua notified her parents.

Mr. Tong simply acknowledged by saying "Okay," indicating he understood, while Mrs. Tong thoughtfully said, "You two haven’t had time alone for several days since we came back, right? You don’t have to keep me company later. Head out early."

"Mom, there’s no rush. I’ll leave at ten."

In the past few days since Mr. Tong’s return, he and Qin Ming had been inspecting the Tong Family’s properties, and Tong Xiaohua was, in effect, taking a two or three-day break.

"No need, your father and I have to go out for something soon, and you’d be bored staying at home alone. Just go and spend some time with Xiao Yan."

With her mother saying so much, Tong Xiaohua had no choice but to nod in agreement.

"Oh yes, about the tea you served at home the other day, Xiao Yan seemed to like it very much. I’ll get Yuan Brother to pack up two boxes for you to take to Xiao Yan later."

Tong Xiaohua nodded in agreement, finished breakfast, and accompanied her mom for a walk in the garden to help with digestion.

Around eight o’clock, she returned to the living room to find Mr. Tong already packed up and waiting to depart with Mrs. Tong.

Tong Xiaohua didn’t ask her parents where they were going. Over the years, she had gotten used to them often leaving the house mysteriously, probably to enjoy a sweet twosome without her third-wheel interference.

Tong Xiaohua saw her parents out, and as Mrs. Tong walked through the doorway, she suddenly remembered something and turned back to admonish her.

"Xiao Hua, why don’t you wear that new dress you bought the other day? It’s very pretty!"

Tong Xiaohua coughed awkwardly twice, "Mom, it’s just a meal together. There’s no need to make it so formal."

But Mrs. Tong insisted, "Listen to your mother, you won’t go wrong."

So, Tong Xiaohua hesitated in front of the wardrobe for over ten minutes and finally decided to put on the light lotus-colored velvet knee-length skirt she bought that day, paired with short boots and left the house.

She didn’t tell Yan Bo she was arriving early.

She had assumed that since it was Sunday, Yan Bo would be at home. Unexpectedly, when she rang the doorbell, it was Aunt Xin who answered the door.

"Miss Tong, aren’t you supposed to arrive at eleven?" Aunt Xin looked quite surprised behind the iron gate.

However, she quickly opened the door and invited Tong Xiaohua inside.

"Good morning, Aunt Xin. Has Yan Bo not woken up yet?"

Seeing Aunt Xin so surprised, Tong Xiaohua figured she must have disturbed the owner’s rest.

Since she wasn’t accustomed to sleeping in, she assumed Yan Bo wouldn’t be either.

"Mr. Yan isn’t here; he’s working next door."

As Aunt Xin spoke, she brought Tong Xiaohua a glass of water.

Tong Xiaohua took the water and noticed Aunt Xin putting on gloves, apparently in the midst of cleaning. It seemed her presence might be hindering.

"Then I’ll go next door to find him!"

Aunt Xin wasn’t too concerned and agreed, then saw her out.

Yan Bo’s office door was only dozens of meters away from the entrance to his residence. Tong Xiaohua pushed open the glass door and the office hall was quiet as a tomb, even Yan Bo’s secretary’s seat was empty.

It seemed it wasn’t the entire company working overtime, just Yan Bo himself.

Suddenly, Tong Xiaohua felt somewhat sorry for Yan Bo.

At just twenty years old, he was so busy he could not even rest on a Sunday.

Feeling pity but also a bit worried that her early arrival could disturb his work,

she hesitated over whether to go back to his residence and wait obediently or to knock on his office door. Just then, with a "click," his office door opened.

Yan Bo’s figure emerged.

"Xiao Hua, why didn’t you come in when you arrived?" Yan Bo welcomed her with a surprised and happy face.

It had been days since they had been alone, and their nightly calls to say goodnight always left their hearts itching.

Now that they met, before Tong Xiaohua could even step forward, Yan Bo had already strode over, stretched out his long arm, and drew her into his embrace.

His lips landed on her forehead and then her face.

And finally, he gently pecked her lips.

He tightened his arms, then gently steadied her shoulders and pushed her away a little.

"Xiao Hua, you’re becoming more beautiful by the day!"

Yan Bo’s adoring and fervent gaze slid from her face, down her neck, all the way to the tips of her shoes, his admiration plainly seen.

Tong Xiaohua felt uncomfortable under his gaze and shifted her shoulders lightly, saying,

"Nonsense, I just swapped jeans for a skirt."

Yan Bo’s lips curved up in a smile, and he leaned in closer to kiss her nose tip.

"Fool, you don’t know how beautiful you are in a dress!"

Tong Xiaohua considered it merely a case of "beauty is in the eye of the beholder" and scoffed, gently pushing him away.

"Stop it, I’m not a three-year-old child; you can’t fool me with that kind of talk."

Yan Bo didn’t argue with her and instead wrapped his arm around her waist and led her into his office.

"Why didn’t you tell me you were coming early? I could have taken you out," he said.

However, Tong Xiaohua wasn’t much of a fan of shopping, "Forget it, I don’t like shopping. I just wanted to see you, so I came early to spend some time with you."
