Chapter 793: Little Baby Xiao

Chapter 793: Chapter 793: Little Baby Xiao

Baby boy, who’s already a little over six years old, has grown quite a bit taller compared to one year ago. Ever since he became a big brother, the focus of his life at home has almost entirely shifted toward his little sister.

The models he used to tinker with happily whenever he came home now hardly see play a few times a month.

Before, he would always wander around the garden with Star. After his little sister was born, however, that changed to pushing her, lying in her stroller, around the garden. And Star, loyal as always, would wag its tail and follow the two little masters everywhere.

It’s said that dogs are spiritual beings, and Star proves it. Ever since that incident with Baby boy, Star would usually run over to wander around him every time he went out. As long as Baby boy was willing to bring it along, it would always follow him.

Star had similar admiration and loyalty for Baby boy’s Little sister, while she perceived Star as a reliable and very honest playmate.

So, the silhouette of two children and a dog could frequently be spotted wandering in the garden at home.

Little sister’s learning process to walk, just like her process to start talking, only took a little over a month, from when she began to use chairs, tables, and walls for support to when her brother could hold her small hand and guide her on walks through the garden.

When she learned to walk, she still wasn’t even a year old. Her gait was not the most stable, but aside from when they were going out, she usually held her head high and refused to be lead by anyone.

Yan Family’s house is very big, and their garden is even bigger. Even though little sister wandered around the house and garden everyday, it was far from enough to satisfy her curiosity about their garden, filled with exotic plants and flowers.

That day, taking advantage of the moment when her Father and Grandma had left temporarily, she walked over to the entrance hall. Biting her lip and mustering up her strength, she opened the door that had been left ajar slightly and then, supporting herself against the door, she wriggled her body out through the narrow opening.

Baby boy went upstairs to get some tea leaves. Not observing Little sister’s figure in the living room, he assumed she had crawled off to the kitchen to play again.

Understand that this little girl is quite mischievous. Once, she managed to climb into the kitchen when nobody was paying attention, and took a bag of flour from some cupboard, then sat in the middle of the kitchen playing with the flour, covering her face with a layer of white powder.

Luckily the Yan family has always been indulgent towards their children. They merely chuckled as they picked her up from the pile of flour and tossed her into the bathtub to clean her up.

After this incident, all the cupboards within reach of this young girl in the kitchen, especially the bottom ones, were never again stocked with anything potentially harmful to children.

"Little one... little one..."

After laying down the tea leaves and calling out her name, Baby boy took steps toward the kitchen.

Before he even got to the kitchen, he ran into Grandma who was coming out of the kitchen with a baby’s bottle.

"Isn’t she in the living room?" Grandma gave Baby boy a glare.

"She’s not in the kitchen?" Baby boy replied, peering into the kitchen corridor as he spoke.

"She was just sitting there playing with a jigsaw puzzle. It was only when this little miss got hungry that I rushed to make her formula."

Grandma rhythmically shook the freshly prepared baby formula bottle in her hand and walked over to the corner where Little sister had just been sitting.

Without giving it much thought, Baby boy trailed behind her.

"She just ate porridge at eight o’clock, she’s already hungry?" Baby boy asked with laughter.

"Indeed! It seems like I should just start calling her Big Eater."

The couple playfully teased their grandchild. But honestly, who cared if the girl ate a lot? Besides, the girl was very active. Given her high energy consumption, it was natural for her to eat more.

"Little Hua, where do you think Little One is?"

The duo turned a corner from the kitchen and at once saw every corner of the living room.

"Shoot, surely this little girl didn’t run into the dining room?"

Indeed, Little sister had tried crawling into the dining room to play a few times before.

Yet after a fruitless search in the dining room, Baby boy found it neat and clean, obviously untouched. Clearly, Little sister could not have been there.

Because if she had, the aftermath would undoubtedly resemble the catastrophe of a typhoon’s passage.

The couple was anxious after failing to find her. They called over Uncle Hai and a few servants, asking them if they had seen Little sister. Everyone who was busy with their own stuff just shook their heads in confusion.

After Little sister was born, the Yan Family didn’t hire a dedicated nanny for her.

As a baby, Little sister was pretty much the centre of attention and was carried and pampered all day by the family. What was the point of hiring a nanny really?

Now that she was able to walk, they still didn’t see the need to hire a specific nanny for this task. After all, both Baby boy and his wife loved spending time around her all day, plus, there were so many domestic servants in the Yan Family that anyone could attend to her needs.

Uncle Hai led a few servants to look for her in every corner of the house, and came back a while later looking a bit flustered.

"Master, Madame, we can’t find Little one." he reported with a troubled expression.

The couple’s faces changed upon hearing this, "Old Ye, could it be... "

Grandma’s attempt at voicing a terrible possibility was sternly cut off by Baby boy, "Don’t think irrationally. Nothing will happen to Little One; it’s our own home, after all."

As he said this, he took out the remote control and switched on the home surveillance cameras.

Sure enough, they quickly saw Little Sister’s silhouette on the big screen standing up from a corner of the jigsaw puzzles, wobbling towards the entrance hall. The next moment, she disappeared through the barely open door.

"Really, this little girl just can’t sit still!"

Baby boy and his wife who were just anxious a moment ago, now seemed both annoyed and amused.

They exited the house through the front door and after searching separately for a few minutes, Baby boy and his wife found Little Sister’s silhouette on the lawn by the South Pavilion. Star was obediently sitting on the grass close by, wagging its tail.

Seems like Star treated Little sister the same way it treated Baby boy.

Even though they were sure that nothing could happen to the girl, it was not until they actually saw her little figure, that they truly let out a sigh of relief.

Both of them trotted over, but when they were still about ten metres away, they simultaneously slowed down and lightened their steps.

They gently tiptoed behind Little sister. Star had already noticed them and was wagging its tail and from time to time, whining softly.

But Little sister, who was squatting on the grass, was completely oblivious to the arrival of her Grandma and Grandpa. She was motionless, still leaning over the grass.

Both baby boy and Grandma exchanged a glance before imitating Little sister and squatted down on the grass.

Only when their line of sight was level with little sister’s did they see a little green mantis standing proudly on a blade of grass.

And clearly, Little Sister was captivated by this small creature.

The small mantis was idle and yet its eyes were seemingly locked onto Little sister.

Little sister was equally motionless, with her eyes naturally locked onto the mantis.

This standoff only ended when the small mantis flapped its wings and alighted onto a piece of grass not too far away.

Little sister’s gaze followed the mantis, she leaned on her hands and stood up.
