Chapter 710: Three Overlapping Hearts

Chapter 710: Chapter 710: Three Overlapping Hearts

Yan Shao quickly put down his laptop and rose to his feet, striding briskly towards the hospital bed.

Zhu Qianying’s upper body leaned over the bed, her face pressed against the little boy’s face, holding his hand tightly, whispering overjoyedly, "Baby, I’m so relieved you’re okay..."

The little boy was half-opening his eyes, lips slightly parted. His voice was weak, but Zhu Qianying could hear him clearly, he cried out, "Mommy!"

This raspy, low call for ’Mommy’ made Zhu Qianying’s tears burst forth uncontrollably. They fell in large droplets wetting her face.

Zhu Qianying quickly turned her face away and wiped the tears from her face in haste.

By this time, Yan Shao had walked over. He gently held her, letting her bury her face in his arm. He then bent down to kiss their son’s eyelids and gently smiled, "Hi! Baby, you’re awake?"

Yan Shao feigned a light-hearted tone making the weakened little boy force a smile. Subsequently, his pale lips moved slightly, and he called out "Daddy..." in a husky voice.

Yan Shao bit his lip, struggling to control his own emotions, stooped down to kiss the rather dried lips of the baby boy, "Such a good boy!"

Zhu Qianying rubbed against his arm a couple of times before eventually turning around and once again bending down to look at the little boy with teary-red eyes.

"Baby, Mommy has made some soup and porridge. Do you want some?"

It had been nearly ten hours since the boy was rescued. During this time, he had been given a few IV fluids. By now, he surely must be hungry.

As expected, the boy, whose eyes previously lacked energy, brightened up due to Zhu Qianying’s words.

He blinked his eyes to signify his consent.

Zhu Qianying kissed him, rose to her feet, and quickly ran out of the hospital room.

When she returned to the room carrying a tray with hot soup and well-cooked porridge, the dean was checking the boy, accompanied by two other doctors.

"Mrs. Yan, have him drink some soup first. If he still wants more, then let him have some porridge," a doctor advised Zhu Qianying while examining their son.

The results of the examination were rather promising. After speaking to the doctors in a low voice, the dean turned to Yan Shao and said.

"The Young Master is intrinsically healthy, hence his recovery is better than expected. If it’s inconvenient for you here, you can discharge him tomorrow. I will arrange for a doctor to check on him in the morning and evening."

Yan Shao looked at Zhu Qianying, implying that the decision was hers to make.

Zhu Qianying turned to the doctor, "Will there be any issues if the baby boy stays at home in this condition?"

The doctor nodded, "The Young Master doesn’t have any severe injuries. His wounds are mostly superficial. There’s no need for him to stay in the hospital. Going home should facilitate his recovery."

Zhu Qianying understood her words and turned her gaze back to the little boy.

"Baby, do you want to go home? Or do you want to stay here for a day or two?"

If it were any other child asked this question, the answer would unquestionably be – to go home, no matter their physical condition.

But Zhu Qianying was asking her son, trusting his ability to judge his own situation to make the appropriate choice.

As expected, unlike other kids, the little boy didn’t immediately respond with wanting to ’go home’.

Instead, he attempted to stretch out his hands and legs. Then, he turned his gaze towards the doctor, his eyes filled with questions.

The doctor looked surprised but understood what the little boy was implying. "Young Master, are you feeling weak in your hands and feet? This is just because you haven’t eaten for a while, and because you were in the water for too long. Once you eat food and rest at home for a few days, you will be able to get out of bed and run around."

The little boy blinked his eyes and finally, with a whispery voice, told Zhu Qianying, "Go home..."

At last, the dean and doctor could comprehend how this little boy managed to survive and protect himself so well in such a dangerous situation.

Perhaps, it’s because he had been taught self-protection from a young age.

Even before the doctor and dean had left, Zhu Qianying began spoon-feeding the little boy soup.

Her ears were pricked up, attentively taking note of the doctors’ instructions.

After consuming half a bowl of soup, the little boy signaled that he did not want anymore. Zhu Qianying thought he wasn’t accustomed to it just yet, so she put the bowl down, only to hear him pitifully asking for, "Porridge..."

Zhu Qianying whipped between emotions, lamenting and chuckling. This boy truly was a complete foodie.

However, this was a good sign. Being able to eat indicated that he would recover quicker and better.

But as expected, the little boy’s stomach was still weak. After consuming half a bowl of porridge, he signaled that he was full.

After eating, the little boy closed his eyes again.

Zhu Qianying thought he had fallen asleep. As she lifted her hand to clear the dishes, she felt her hand tightly grasped by his. She turned her head to see the little boy’s anxious eyes.

Zhu Qianying then realized he wasn’t asleep but merely resting with his eyes closed.

"Sweetheart, Mommy needs to clear up a bit, let Daddy accompany you, okay?"

The little boy’s eyes lost their anxiety, and he slowly nodded his head.

Yan Shao sat on the edge of the bed, one arm wrapped around the little boy’s shoulders, letting him snuggle close to him.

"You were really great this time, son!" Yan Shao gently ruffled his son’s hair, generously praising him.

The little boy leaned comfortably in his arms, grasping Yan Shao’s large hand with his small chubby ones, nonchalantly fiddling with it.

After Zhu Qianying placed the dishes outside for the bodyguards to return to the dean’s office, she turned around to see the little boy studying something in his father’s palm.

Zhu Qianying walked over and reached out her hand. The boy batted his eyelashes, looked up at her and then back down. He placed one of his small hands in the center of Yan Shao’s large hand, and then took Zhu Qianying’s hand to hold over theirs.

The little boy didn’t say anything, but Zhu Qianying felt like she heard his unspoken words, "Daddy and Mommy, we should always be together!"

These words were probably the reason the little boy kept his cool while stuck in the pool.

Her vision filled with the image of her precious son struggling in the deep pool and slowly, her vision went blurry again.

Suddenly she seemed to feel, from the palms of the little boy and Yan Shao, their clear heartbeats. Her heartbeat quickened in sync, beating in rhythm with theirs.

It was just three hands, but Zhu Qianying felt they were like three fervent hearts, linked together, beating harmoniously in sync.

Perhaps, this phenomenon of familial resonance of the heart is what connects them emotionally.

And because of this resonance, the three of them had confidence and motivation, relying on each other, supporting each other to continue pulling through.
