Chapter 691: Slowly Accepting

Chapter 691: Chapter 691: Slowly Accepting

While cursing, Yan felt a sigh in his heart.

His wife really had a big heart.

Other people’s wives were continuously worried about their husbands’ property, fearing that if their husbands have money in their pockets, they’d go out and behave irresponsibly.

But his wife, he had already laid out all his cards to her, yet she did not show any interest in looking at them!

Zhu Qianying shrank her neck and did not dare to make a sound.

Because she could see that the Eldest Young Master of the Yan Family was really angry.

Why was he angry?

Of course, it was because she paid no attention to his affairs. While this reason might seem ridiculous, considering who Yan is, there might be some merit to his anger.

Not hearing anything from Zhu Qianying, Yan could tell that his guess was right, so he raised his hand as if he was about to spank her.

Zhu Qianying opened her eyes wide and looked at him pitifully.

Seeing her like that, Yan couldn’t hit her.

Just as they were locked in a stalemate, there came a "thump thump thump" sound of knocking on the door, following which, came their son’s anxious voice.

"Daddy! Mommy! Open the door quickly!"

Yan quickly picked up Zhu Qianying, with such urgency that he directly carried her on his waist and ran barefoot towards the door to open it.

As soon as the door opened, their son rushed in, his face showing signs of anxiety.

"Daddy, Mommy, Bai Xiaolu is missing!"

Zhu Qianying, who had been set down by Yan, exchanged a glance with him.

Before they could even communicate, they were hurried along by their son towards his room. It just so happened that Bai Xiaolu had been staying in the room next to his.

This was the third night since Bai Shao’s family had left. On the previous two nights, their son had shown no signs of discomfort, so Zhu Qianying thought their son had gradually accepted the fact.

But now it looked like their son hadn’t accepted it. Instead, he had kept everything in his heart and might have gotten awakened by a nightmare or perhaps, he was sleepwalking now?

"Baby..."

Yan bent down to pick up his son, attempting to soothe him. But their son didn’t even pay attention to him or Zhu Qianying, but anxiously kept pointing towards his room, saying, "Daddy, Mommy, go find her quickly. It’s dark. She is scared!"

Zhu Qianying held his plump hand, trying to talk to him, "Baby..."

But their son didn’t want to hear her, instead, with red-rimmed eyes, he looked at her pitifully, "Mommy, Bai Xiaolu is scared. Please find her quickly..."

He clearly wasn’t listening to what his parents were saying.

Watching their precious son behave like this made Zhu Qianying’s heart ache. So, she and Yan had no choice but to go to the room where Bai Xiaolu used to sleep, all while holding their son.

As soon as they entered, their son dragged Zhu Qianying to the bed, lifting the sheets while talking.

"Mommy, where could she have gone without sleeping at this time?"

Their son’s restlessness made Zhu Qianying want to tightly hold his little body and console him.

The problem is, the little boy, as if unaware of his parents’ worry, continued to drag Zhu Qianying through the room after upending the sheets. He then led her into the cloakroom, opened the closet doors, and searched through it.

Zhu Qianying, anxious, watched her son frantically searching every room, while Yan, after seeing the state of their son, quickly went out and made a call to the therapist they had previously consulted who promised to come over immediately.

Latter on, Yan still felt unsure and made another call to Du Ting, asking him to bring some tranquilizers and hurry over.

Both the therapist and Du Ting arrived at the same time, almost half an hour later.

And during this hal-hour, their son’s search for Bai Xiaolu had moved from the bedroom and cloakroom into the playroom.

If the therapist and Du Ting hadn’t arrived, chances are, the little boy would have been shouting to search the garden outside.

The therapist, was surnamed Xiao, she asked Yan and Zhu Qianying to leave while she stayed in the playroom with their son searching for Bai Xiaolu.

Zhu Qianying and Yan sat outside with a heavy look on their faces, obviously tormented but required to suppress their anxiety and wait quietly.

They waited for nearly an hour.

During this time, Yan just quietly embraced Zhu Qianying, not uttering a word, occasionally stroking her head or kissing her forehead to comfort her.

Even Du Ting, who was usually talkative, was exceptionally quiet tonight and basically didn’t speak a word.

He did not even ask any questions.

Perhaps, Yan had warned him beforehand on the phone, not to say anything unnecessary.

Time seemed to stretch endlessly. Zhu Qianying quietly leaned on Yan. Finally, during the long and painful wait, they heard the sound of a door.

She quickly stood up, hurriedly walking, but only the therapist walked out of the playroom.

"Teacher Xiao, where is our son?"

The vocals of Zhu Qianying were very low, but they were filled with intense concern and anxiety.

Teacher Xiao exhaled deeply, "He’s asleep...", then turned to Yan and said, "Yan, you should carry him back to his bedroom to sleep. The playroom is too big; he’ll feel insecure."

Hearing her words, Yan swiftly entered the playroom, and soon, he carried out their son, who though asleep, was still frowning.

"Why don’t we let him sleep with us for a few days?" Yan looked down at their sleeping son anxiously.

He didn’t know if his words were meant as a question for Teacher Xiao, or Zhu Qianying, or both.

Zhu Qianying, however, was looking at Teacher Xiao, at this time, she trusted her more.

"Yes, that’s a good idea. Let him sleep with us until he has really accepted the situation, and then let him sleep on his own," Teacher Xiao agreed with Yan’s proposal.

After Yan put their son to bed in their bedroom and tucked him in, Zhu Qianying, who followed him in, took out two big cotton blankets from the cabinet and placed them on either side of their son.

Though she wasn’t sure if this would help their son, when she was having trouble sleeping due to anxiety, having something to lean on or hold onto helped to calm her down a bit.

Looking at their little son who, after a half-night’s commotion, was finally asleep, Zhu Qianying sighed deeply.

When they were seeing Teacher Xiao off, she kept instructing them on certain things and promised to come over during the next few nights to talk to their son.

Du Ting, on the other hand, stayed in the guestroom. He argued that it would save him the trouble of going back and forth, but Zhu Qianying knew that he was worried for their son and was staying on standby.

After they had sent Teacher Xiao away, Du Ting, who went in and out of the Yan Family home freely, took the initiative to go up to the third floor to find a guest room to sleep in.

When Yan and Zhu Qianying returned to their bedroom, they lay on either side of their son, who seemed more peaceful when asleep compared to when they had seen him awake previously.
