Chapter 664: Chapter 664: Don’t Let My Mother Be Wronged
Chen Jing and Luo Yifan had only just confirmed their relationship status.
Although this meal was supposedly an opportunity for both their families to meet, it seemed to Luo Yifan like a meal anticipating the day when they would all become one family.
Zhu Qianying could feel Luo Yifan’s intentions, and she was not particularly opposed to them.
Granted, Luo Yifan hadn’t spent a lot of time with her mother, and their relationship was still in its early stages. It did seem like he was rushing things.
However, the success of a relationship doesn’t always correlate to the length of time spent together.
It depends more on compatibility.
Just like her mom and Zhu Zhizhou, they were still incompatible despite undergoing twenty years of hardship together. Even if her mother had dedicated her whole life to Zhu Zhizhou, all she would have gained was heartbreak and injury.
Therefore, Zhu Qianying didn’t insist that Luo Yifan follow a traditional route of dating, proposing, and marrying. As long as her mother was happy, she wouldn’t mind if all of these events happened in a single day.
"Uncle Luo, everyone has their own thoughts and preferences. I don’t expect your sons to be very fond of my mother. All I ask is that you don’t let her feel slighted. As for the rest, I can’t manage everything," she said.
It would be best if Luo Yifan’s sons liked her mother, but if they didn’t, they couldn’t be forced to like her. After all, they were grown men in their twenties. No one could dictate their likes and dislikes.
"Ying’er, rest assured. Even if Xiao Xian and Xiao Chang were that type of people, as a man, it’s my responsibility to protect the people I care about from harm and insult.
Walking from the apartment to the main gate, they were talking the whole way. By the time they reached the gate, Zhu Qianying was reassured about her mother’s situation.
Outside the gate, two men were standing facing the road, chatting about something. Zhu Qianying guessed that they were Luo Yifan’s sons.
"Ying’er, those are my sons." Luo Yifan’s voice quickly confirmed Zhu Qianying’s suspicion.
After Zhu Qianying asked the security guard to open the gate and stepped outside with Luo Yifan, the two men turned around and locked eyes with Zhu Qianying. They all exchanged slight smiles.
"Ying’er, this one is my eldest son, Luo Xian, who is just a month or two older than you. The other one is my second son, Luo Chang, who is a bit younger than Xiao Yu."
"Xiao Xian and Xiao Chang, this is your Aunt Jing’s eldest daughter, Zhu Qianying, Xiao Yu’s sister."
Upon hearing Luo Yifan’s introduction, Zhu Qianying remembered that Xiao Yu wasn’t a stranger to the Luo family’s members.
"Hello, you can call me Ying Zi!" Zhu Qianying held out her hand to both of them.
Luo Xian and Luo Chang shook her hand in turn. As the eldest, Luo Xian said, "Ying Zi, you can call me Da Xian and him Xiao Chang. That’s how Xiao Yu addresses us."
At first glance, brothers Luo Xian and Luo Chang didn’t seem to look alike. But upon closer look, one could see some resemblances. Perhaps, they took after their parents.
Luo Xian looked a lot like Luo Yifan, in terms of both appearance and demeanor. On the other hand, Luo Chang probably took after his mother. His facial features were different from Luo Xian and Luo Yifan, but his temperament was very similar to his father and brother.
Zhu Qianying had a favorable impression of the brothers. The short walk from the gate to the apartment building was full of light-hearted conversation. Although the topics were trivial, their faces were full of joy. This indicated that the brothers didn’t object to this meeting — or, indirectly, their father’s new girlfriend.
Zhu Qianying never asked Xiao Yu about the brothers’ mother, and Xiao Yu never brought her up.
From her mother’s comments, Zhu Qianying could vaguely guess that Luo Yifan rarely talked about his late wife in front of her mother.
He must have truly loved his wife. Zhu Qianying could see hints of her own brothers, Ji Yu and Ji Huan, in Luo Xian and Luo Chang. Only children who grow up in happy families typically exhibit these qualities.
As the four of them cheerfully made their way inside, a little boy, Beibei, came rushing up, tilting his little face up and extending his tiny hand as he greeted Luo Xian and Luo Chang with a smile.
"Hello, uncles! I’m Beibei. Welcome to our home!"
The little boy had put on a bit of weight recently which made his face rounder, but it didn’t make him any less attractive. Instead, it added to his innocence and cuteness.
Luo Xian patted his head and asked with a smile, "Shouldn’t you call us uncle? How come you’re calling us uncle?"
Looking confused, the little boy turned to his mother, who then turned to Luo Yifan.
She thought to herself, "He’s already planned this far in advance? No wonder he kept insisting that his sons would treat my mother well. It turns out he’s already laid the groundwork for managing relationships!"
Zhu Qianying’s impression of Luo Yifan improved even more.
Beibei turned to Luo Yifan and asked, "Grandfather Luo, what should Beibei call them then?"
Luo Yifan pinched Beibei’s cheek with a smile, "You can just call them uncle for now."
Beibei then nodded, "Okay, I got it. When I start calling you grandfather, that’s when I’ll start calling them uncles, right?"
The little boy’s earnest words made everyone burst into laughter.
As the adults laughed, Beibei looked serious. He scrutinized Luo Xian and Luo Chang, then pointed at Luo Xian and asked,
"You’re Uncle Xian, right?"
Suppressing his laughter but still smiling, Luo Xian squatted down to give the little boy a hug, "Yes, Beibei. How did you know? Did you guess?"
"Of course not. Beibei was told by Big Brother Beibei that Uncle Xian looks a lot like Grandfather Luo!"
"Wow, smart kids are awesome. You even saved me an introduction." Luo Xian looked up at Zhu Qianying and grinned.
While standing beside Luo Xian, Luo Chang seemed a little upset at being ignored. He took out a box from his bag and bent down to hand it to Beibei.
"Beibei, this is a gift from Uncle Change. Do you like it?"
Beibei’s attention quickly shifted from Luo Xian to Luo Chang. The moment his eyes landed on the box, they lit up with excitement.
"Wow, it’s the latest Limited Edition aircraft carrier!"
Beibei happily accepted the box and gave Luo Chang a sweet smile. "Thank you, Uncle Chang!"
Once inside the living room, Zhu Qianying noticed that Yan Shao and Xiao Lizi were missing.
Just then, Chen Jing came out of the kitchen, and Zhu Qianying asked, "Mom, where are Yan Shao and Xiao Lizi?"
"Oh, Yan Shao took Xiao Lu Zi down to the supermarket to buy some soy sauce."
