Chapter 587 Uncle Found
Chapter 587: Chapter 587 Uncle Found
Luo Yifan had heard something about the relationship between Bai Xiangdong and Chen Jing from a shop assistant, something about them being old neighbours.
But could old neighbours really have such a good relationship?
He heard that when Bai Xiangdong fell ill, Chen Jing made soup and cooked two or three dishes for him every day. The treatment didn’t seem like the kind you would receive from an old neighbour.
"Old Neighbours, huh!"
Xiao Ya answered quickly. It seemed that everyone in the shop thought that they were just old neighbours. Or was he the only one who felt that their relationship was not, or was more than just old neighbour’s?
Chen Jing was accompanying the slightly weak Bai Xiangdong in the hospital. Around nine o’clock, her mobile phone rang. She thought it was her daughter, but it turned out to be Luo Yifan.
"Brother Luo, what’s up?"
Fearing that Bai Xiangdong might be disturbed, Chen Jing took the phone out of the hospital room to answer.
"Ah Jing, are you coming back?"
Chen Jing was taken aback, "Brother Luo, are you still at the restaurant?"
"Yeah, you didn’t say anything, and I thought you would be back soon, so I’ve been waiting for you... until now."
On reflection, Chen Jing had indeed rushed out as soon as she received the phone call, without saying a word to Luo Yifan.
Realising this, she said guiltily, "I’m sorry, Brother Luo. My friend, Brother Dong, has fallen ill and is in the hospital. I’m looking after him now and I won’t be able to come back to the restaurant today. Can you come over tomorrow morning if you have time? I’m really sorry!"
Luo Yifan was silent for a moment before conceding, "Alright, I’ll come over tomorrow."
Chen Jing quietly scolded herself for leaving without telling anyone and making Luo Yifan wait all night at the restaurant for nothing.
When she returned to the hospital room, Bai Xiangdong told her, "Ah Jing, you should go home. It’s late, and it’s not safe."
However, even without Bai Xiangdong’s urging, Chen Jing intended to leave, as the hospital required all visitors to leave by nine thirty.
Looking at the time, it was indeed time for her to go.
"I’m leaving now. Xiao Shao couldn’t come see you today because she had to work overtime. She’ll be here tomorrow."
Regarding Bai Shao, it was something Zhu Qianying had instructed her to say, and so she told him truthfully.
As Chen Jing got to the door and was about to leave, Bai Xiangdong stopped her, "Ah Jing, could you bring some videos of Xiao Lizi and the baby boy for me to see tomorrow? I miss them after not seeing them for a few days."
Bai Shao and Zhu Qianying had originally planned to bring the children to see him, but he was afraid to scare them, and insisted they not come.
But although he wouldn’t let the children come, he missed them terribly!
Chen Jing nodded her head, and when she got home, she told Zhu Qianying about it, as Bai Shao hadn’t arrived home yet.
Originally, after telling her daughter about this, Chen Jing planned to go take a bath and go to bed.
But her daughter stopped her and asked her to visit Director Yan’s study after her bath.
Chen Jing didn’t give it much thought at the time and merely assumed that her daughter wanted to discuss the food exhibition and check on the progress of her new dish.
But when she was done with her bath and came to Director Yan’s study, she saw her daughter and son-in-law sitting on the sofa in the reception room, not speaking, the atmosphere heavy with tension.
Chen Jing immediately realized that her daughter and son-in-law had something important to discuss with her. After seeing the serious look on Director Yan and her daughter’s faces, she had a bad feeling.
Even though she had this feeling, she associated the bad news with Bai Xiangdong and didn’t expect the bad news to involve her, personally.
"Mom, have you been looking for your parents and your brother these past years?"
As soon as Zhu Qianying spoke, she asked about her mother’s family.
Chen Jing hesitated, looked at her daughter with some trepidation and asked, "Did Brother Dong tell you?"
Zhu Qianying nodded, "Yeah, Uncle Dong was probably afraid something might happen to him, so he told me about it the day he was hospitalized."
Zhu Qianying didn’t hide anything. At this point, there was no need to hide anything.
"Then, we found Uncle Zhang according to what Uncle Dong said, and Uncle Zhang gave us some clues. The people here for Director Yan have just responded, we found your brother."
Zhu Qianying still had trouble accepting it, but since it was the truth, she had to. She only hoped that her mother would be okay.
Chen Jing stayed stunned for a while before she almost understood the implication in Zhu Qianying’s words.
"My brother? Only my brother was found? What about my dad and mom?" Her eyes reddened as she asked the latter part.
Zhu Qianying was quiet for a moment before pulling her mother into her arms and looking at Director Yan.
Receiving Zhu Qianying’s plea for help, Director Yan said, "Mom, we’re not sure yet, but we’ve only found your brother, his wife, and their child. Director Yan and I are planning on going over to find out more tomorrow, we just wanted to ask you if you wanted to go with us?"
When Director Yan received the feedback from Ke Kai, he thought for a while before telling Zhu Qianying.
Ke Kai said, "The other party seems to have suffered harassment before, so they have a strong psychological guard. They are also very cautious and keep a distance from their neighbours, so we can’t find out any true information about their household. We only know that it is just the couple and their son who go in and out. Nothing more."
Since they couldn’t get any information from the neighbours, Ke Kai suggested that they might continue investigating or knock on their door directly.
And the person best suited to do this was, of course, Chen Jing.
Because, even if it was Zhu Qianying, the couple wouldn’t recognize her.
"I’ll go, I’ll go with you!"
Chen Jing, her eyes reddening, gave Director Yan her sure answer without even thinking.
Director Yan and Zhu QanYing looked at each other again, their worry apparent in their eyes.
"Mom, if you’re going, you need to be prepared."
Chen Jing was startled for a moment before nodding silently.
She only thought that her daughter was talking about preparing for the possibility that her parents were no longer alive, but Zhu Qianying added....
"From what we know, your parents bought an apartment near the village after they moved away. Then, not long before I met Director Yan, they were driven away by the Zhu Family."
Originally, Zhu Qianying really didn’t want to mention this.
After hearing Uncle Zhang’s words that day, she vaguely understood why her mother hadn’t returned to her parents over the years.
It wasn’t that she didn’t want to, she was afraid to.
Even now, her mother still suffered under a strong sense of guilt. Adding this, Zhu Qianying was really afraid her mother wouldn’t be able to take it.
But if she didn’t tell her, her uncle probably wouldn’t even let them in the door.
And her mother’s mental barrier would never be opened.
Zhu Qianying prepared for the worst, that perhaps her grandparents were no longer in this world, but she had at least found her brother!
