Chapter 534: Our Love Token

Chapter 534: Chapter 534: Our Love Token

Zhu Qianying was feeling torn because if she moved in with them, her mother would be left alone here, which she could not bear.

Yan Bo agreed with his father’s reasoning, but seeing Zhu Qianying hesitate without speaking, he guessed her thoughts.

"Ying’er, how about we have mom move back with us for a few days? She mentioned wanting to get a peace charm for you and the little boy tomorrow, it would be perfect for her to join us," he suggested.

Yan Bo’s suggestion effectively eliminated Zhu Qianying’s concerns.

Seeing the hopeful expressions of all three adults and the little boy in the room, patiently waiting for her to give her consent. She felt that she had no choice, even if she had reservations.

"Alright, I’ll pack my things now, and pick up mom later. Is that okay?"

Since she had agreed to move back in, the other minor details didn’t matter at all.

Zhu Qianying went to pack her luggage. With her injured hand, packing was indeed inconvenient.

The two men and the young woman in the room were all unfamiliar with house chores. Of course, if Zhu Qianying didn’t mind Yan Bo and his wife messing up her belongings, she didn’t have to do the packing herself.

But she was more than aware of the pair’s lack of housekeeping skills, and decided that she couldn’t rely on them. She had no option but to pack herself.

"Mommy, let me help you!"

The little boy, being smart and considerate, ran to fetch a small stool. He followed Zhu Qianying into the room with a skip in his steps.

By the time they returned to the Yan family residence, it was almost eleven o’clock. After all the back and forward, everyone was tired and returned to their rooms to rest.

The guest room where Chen Jing and Zhu Qianying had previously stayed still looked the same.

Obviously, Zhu Qianying didn’t need to sleep there anymore.

The young master had his own room shortly after his return, but as he said with various excuses, he always chose to sleep with adults. Only recently, he began to sleep in his own room.

The Yan family did not interfere too much, because they all understood that the young master’s behavior was ultimately down to his lack of security.

Yan Bo and Zhu Qianying stayed in the little boy’s room until he fell soundly asleep before quietly leaving.

The little boy’s room was next to Yan Bo and his wife’s bedroom on the left side of the staircase. After they came out, he walked along the long corridor with Zhu Qianying in his arms until they reached the bedroom door.

At the door, she hesitated instinctively, and Yan Bo, realizing this, held his breath.

"Ying’er?"

Without rushing her, he hugged her tighter and rubbed his face against her hair, patiently waiting.

Zhu Qianying didn’t respond, staring fixedly at the familiar yet foreign door as if seeing it through veils of time.

Memories she forcibly suppressed surged back to her mind.

Time seemed to freeze in that long, quiet corridor, their breathing filled the silence.

Initially, Yan Bo was restless, but he gradually calmed down, understanding that this door represented the last hurdle in Zhu Qianying’s mind.

If she could step past that door today, it would mean she’s truly made peace with her past and ready for a fresh start.

If she retreated, it would mean she didn’t yet have the courage to face the future.

More importantly, her courage lies in the sense of security he provides.

If she did retreat, it meant he didn’t provide her with enough confidence and determination.

Zhu Qianying didn’t know the thoughts running through Yan Bo’s mind. Her hesitation wasn’t about her fear for the future as much as it was about her fear for the past.

She knew very well that if she didn’t step through that door, it would mean all her talk of letting go was nothing but a sham.

They stood in front of the door, leaning into each other, until Yan Bo, unable to wait any longer, made to turn away, ready to give her more time if she wasn’t ready.

As she felt him start to steer away, she was taken aback, and her thoughts returned to the present.

She held his hand and patted it lightly, as if comforting him and encouraging herself at the same time.

She lifted her gaze to his, offered a nod of agreement, took a deep breath (which he echoed), and placed her finger on the fingerprint scanner.

With a click, the door swung open, and they both let out a long sigh of relief.

Then she looked up again, into the eyes of the man who had been patiently watching her, and blinked.

"Welcome home, baby," he said.

The moment they stepped through the door, Yan Bo stopped and bent to kiss her passionately on her lips.

"Mmm..."

Her soft response sounded like a meaningless mumble, yet it also sounded like permission.

Or perhaps, more accurately, it was a sign of resolution!

When he released her, Zhu Qianying looked around the room, and was surprised to find that everything was as she remembered.

She was astonished by his attention to detail as well as by her own clear memories.

Over by their mini cinema, they used to cuddle up and watch romantic movies. She would be moved to tears, while he would be yawning...

The bar, where they once had a drinking contest. Of course, she ended up completely drunk and was carried to bed by a man with questionable motives...

As for the bed...

Despite Zhu Qianying considering herself thick-skinned, the memories of that bed - beautiful, frantic - made her too embarrassed to recall.

Her face heated up like a grilled pancake as she quickly averted her eyes from the bed.

Her gaze landed almost unintentionally on a seemingly familiar plant beside the floor-to-ceiling window

"That is..."

Yan Bo followed her gaze.

Seeing the green leaves, he lifted a corner of his lips, walked over to pick up the pot, cradled it in his arms and returned to her side.

"Do you remember it?" Yan Bo asked, looking at Zhu Qianying expectantly, trying to read something in her expression.

Zhu Qianying looked back and forth between the leaves and the man’s face, but she decided to remain silent.

"It’s our love token, baby. You’ve forgotten it?" Yan Bo passed the plant pot to Zhu Qianying with a smile.
