Chapter 523: Chapter 523: This Is Also My Husband’s

Zhu Qianying called Cheng Ye, "Cheng, I’m sorry, I need to take a couple of days off."

In fact, Zhu Qianying enjoyed a great deal of freedom in her work. In particular, Cheng Ye never plied her with strict demands about her working hours.

However, ever since Cheng Ye decided to set his headquarters in L City, it seemed as if he was imposing on Zhu Qianying additional tasks that were not originally part of her job.

Naturally, Zhu Qianying wasn’t opposed to the extra workload. Nevertheless, the motive behind Cheng Ye’s actions made her uncomfortable.

Without a doubt, Cheng Ye’s motivations were first and foremost to create more opportunities for them to be together. His second motive was to compensate Zhu Qianying for her additional workload by offering her shares.

Clearly, he seemed to have an inkling that Zhu Qianying was planning to leave.

No matter the reason why Zhu Qianying wanted to leave, he wouldn’t possibly agree, nor let go.

"What’s the matter? Are you sick again?" Cheng Ye on the other end of the phone seemed quite alarmed.

"No, I have some personal matters to attend to," she replied.

When it came to such matters, Zhu Qianying wasn’t adept at lying, or rather, she didn’t see the necessity to.

"Okay, do you need any help with it?"

"No, thank you! I’m sorry about the task you’d delegated to me at the headquarters, it seems that you’ll have to entrust it to someone else now," she replied.

Zhu Qianying was a very responsible person, and Cheng Ye was well aware of this. As such, he’d continuously been piling her with responsibilities in an attempt to bind and constrain her.

He was aware that, at least emotionally, he was losing to Yan Han for now. Consequently, he wanted to hold Zhu Qianying by his side through other means.

Zhu Qianying was not entirely unsuspecting of his intentions.

However, she was unable to abandon her responsibilities and leave. Besides, she still valued Cheng Ye’s kindness and his constant care for her and her baby boy over the years. Therefore, she tried her best to comply with his additional work requirements.

And Cheng Ye, clearly, had also caught up on her mental state.

"Alright, you focus on your tasks. I’ll take care of the business at the store," he says.

After requesting her leaves, Zhu Qianying started helping out at the store. During lunchtime, Yan Han, who should be quite busy, dropped by the store.

Of course, Zhu Qianying knew that he didn’t come to lunch, but to check on the store’s condition.

From today onwards, Bai Shao won’t be helping out at the store since she needs to prepare for her new job.

However, the two helpers that Uncle Hai brought in were still working there. Thus, even though the store was bustling with customers, everything was in order and there was no sign of being overwhelmed.

Zhu Qianying had her and Yan Han’s meals brought into the office and they chatted as they ate.

"Ying’er, I’ll take care of things here. There’s no need to close the store."

Obviously, Yan Han was still concerned about what Zhu Qianying had said earlier.

"I know. I haven’t told my Mom about Yi Wei’s matter. I don’t want her to worry."

Yi Wei was no longer a taboo topic between them. However, the thoughts of the elders might not be able to keep pace with theirs.

Fearing that her mom would make wild guesses about Yi Wei, Zhu Qianying rarely mentioned her in front of her mom.

"Ying’er, I’m sorry!"

Although Zhu Qianying didn’t mean to blame him on this matter, Yan Han still felt sorry for it.

It could not be denied that both the Yi and Zhu families had forced Zhu Qianying to do one outrageous thing after another largely due to Yi Wei’s emotional entanglements with him.

"This has nothing to do with you. You don’t need to shoulder the blame. And you’ve been busy lately, are the Yi family and Wang family involved in this too?"

Yan Han gave her a few glances. Evidently, she had misunderstood something.

"Silly girl, neither Yi family nor Wang family can threaten Yanhuang. Don’t worry, I’m just busy with normal business affairs. If you don’t believe me, you can call Qin Xiu and find out."

Zhu Qianying stared at him intently, his eyes were calm and there was no sign of panic. Clearly, he didn’t lie to her.

She secretly heaved a sigh of relief.

While other forces of the Wang family were naturally no match for the Yan family, in terms of economic power, the Wang family could stand shoulder to shoulder with the Yan family.

Therefore, if Wang Wenjie was determined to confront Yan Han, the clash of the two tigers was bound to result in mutual defeat.

"Wang Wenjie has completely given up on Yi Wei. Don’t worry," said Yan Han.

Clearly, Yan Han had seen through her concerns.

Zhu Qianying smiled at him, chiding, "You’re so clever, do you have a brain wave detector installed in my brain?"

Yan Han took a sip of his soup before calmly saying, "Fools are all different, but smart people tend to be similar."

Zhu Qianying burst into laughter, "You’re full of twisted logic!"

Yan Han’s words actually had three implications.

He not only sarcastically referred to Yi Wei’s foolishness but also suggested that he understood Zhu Qianying’s current thoughts, as well as the motives and changes of Wang Wenjie in the whole matter.

And Zhu Qianying, of course, understood him.

"Rest assured, Wang Wenjie is not stupid. He won’t become my enemy for a foolish person he’s never really had," Yan Han assured her.

Yan Han’s words were not without basis. Since Wang Wenjie announced his disassociation from the Yi family both personally and publicly, the Wang family had been continually sending friendly messages to him.

However, Yan Han has not yet responded to these overtures.

"Yes, most often, women tend to be the foolish ones," commented Zhu Qianying.

Zhu Qianying’s lament was not out of sympathy for Yi Wei.

It was because Yi Wei’s matters reminded her of her own mother, Bai Shao, and even herself.

Yan Han put down his bowl, leaned in and planted a kiss on her lips.

"Even if you’re a bit silly, it doesn’t matter because your husband is smart!"

Zhu Qianying disdainfully used the back of her hand to wipe off the grease left on her lips. The outcome of him kissing her without wiping his mouth after drinking the soup.

"Mr. Yan the elder, are you indirectly calling me silly?" she asked.

Yan Han cleaned his mouth with a tissue, pulled out another piece and wiped off the grease from her hand.

"What do you think?" he teased.

Who would admit to being foolish when they’re being called so?

"Whether I’m foolish or not doesn’t matter. I have so much money that I won’t be able to spend it all in several lifetimes. Even if I were a fool, I’d be a rich and happy one."

Yan Han looked at her with a smile, "Did you read all the documents?"

He was obviously referring to the documents about all his assets.

He knew that she would read over them bit by bit.

"I read some of them. But, Yan, you’re richer than I imagined. You know, now I share the same condition as our baby boy."

Yan Han looked at her with curiosity, "What condition?"

"Now when I’m out on the road, whenever I see a tall building or a shop, I can’t help but think, and then I mutter to myself, ’Yeah, that’s also mine because my husband owns it!’"
