Chapter 468: Stop it, call me sister

Chapter 468: Chapter 468: Stop it, call me sister

Zhu Qianying, mother of Yan Xu and close friend to the young Eldest Master, was watching the scene unfold. Upon hearing the crisp voice, she instinctively looked up towards its source.

She saw a little girl with two braids running excitedly, dragging a pink Hello Kitty suitcase behind her. Before Zhu Qianying could react, the girl pushed her suitcase forward, hitting Bai Shao’s leg hard.

Zhu Qianying instinctively reached out to pull her friend away from the impact, but surprisingly, Bai Shao didn’t budge. With a backward pull, she brought the little girl into her arms and said cheerfully to Zhu Qianying,

"Ying Zi, this is my girl, Bai Lu. Yes, just like the egret, Bai Lu. You can call her ’Xiaolu’—as in, the path walked."

Zhu Qianying’s mouth gaped open, her eyes widened, she stood still like a statue.

Bai Shao waved her hands in front of Zhu Qianying, continuing to laugh carefree, "Okay, it’s my fault for keep it from you."

Then, putting away her smile, she said seriously, "This is my biological daughter, half a year older than your little boy!"

Zhu Qianying exchanged bewildered glances with Yan Xu. Their son was the first to react, extending his chubby hand towards the girl with a look of displeasure and a height similar to his.

"Hi, Xiaolu, I’m the Eldest Young Master Yan Xu, but you can call me ’baby boy’."

The small girl stared into baby boy’s face, persistence etched across her own.

"Call me sister!"

All three adults turned their attention towards the two stubborn children.

Baby boy, who would usually politely address Beibei and Guoguo as brother and sister, was for some reason, being stubborn with this girl of similar age.

"Xiaolu! Xiaolu Zi, Lu, Lu!"

Baby boy challenged, making a face at Xiaolu, sticking out his tongue and squinting his eyes.

Zhu Qianying knew it wasn’t the time to pry into the origin of this mysterious little girl. She patted baby boy’s head and said with a smile,

"Baby boy, don’t make a fuss. Call her sister."

Even if it’s just by half a year, she is still the elder.

"Mommy, Xiaolu and I are born in the same year!"

This remark implied his unwillingness to address Xiaolu as his elder sister.

"Call me sister!" the little girl insistently retorted, putting her hands on her hips and standing in front of baby boy,

"Huh!", the young master responded stubbornly, snorting and insisting, if he said he won’t call her sister, then he wouldn’t!

Zhu Qianying, who knew her son well, realized this standoff wasn’t going to resolve quickly, and decided to ignore the two brats. She walked off arm in arm with Bai Shao.

"Let’s go find a place to sit down and chat!"

Yan Xu’s bodyguards had long since taken care of the mother and daughter’s luggage. Seeing their mothers walk off hand in hand, baby boy and Xiaolu, each with uplifted faces, began to follow with large strides.

Yan Xu followed behind, finding amusement in watching his son and Bai Lu bicker.

He found it strange as well.

In fact, his precious son was generally friendly to other children. He got along well with Beibei and Guoguo, even Qin Xiu’s twins were no exception.

Why then, was he so unfriendly towards Bai Lu whom he’d just met?

Visually, they did seem like a suitable pair. They were about the same height, to be exact, Bai Lu was slightly taller than baby boy. Both of them were extremely attractive as well.

Of course, baby boy was handsomely masculine while Bai Lu was exquisitely vivacious.

Because of the issue with his son and Bai Lu, Yan Xu completely forgot about his own feelings being neglected by his wife and son.

Zhu Qianying walked ahead arm in arm with Bai Lu, finally voicing the question that had been nagging her for a while.

"Xiao Shao, tell me honestly, did you suddenly decide to study abroad because of Xiaolu?"

Bai Shao gave a bitter smile, "Of course not. I really did go to study abroad, Xiaolu was more of an accident!"

Zhu Qianying paused and looked at her intently. "So, like me, did you also run away when you found out you were pregnant without anyone knowing about it?"

Bai Shao nodded honestly.

Zhu Qianying let out a long sigh. "Is this our Fate? Even our experiences of having a child are so similar!"

Bai Shao was silent this time.

Zhu Qianying looked at her and felt uncomfortable too. Deciding not to question further about Bai Lu’s origin.

Unexpectedly, after a while, Bai Shao took the initiative to confess, "You’re right, the father of the kid is my jerk of a boss."

Zhu Qianying knew all about her friend’s history with that man.

As to why she kept the existence of Bai Lu a secret for so long, it must’ve been tough for her.

"Alright, Xiao Shao. Now that you’re back, that’s all that matters. We’ll talk about the rest later!"

Zhu Qianying had been a single mom herself and knew how hard it was, especially for someone like Bai Shao who had been studying and raising her child alone in a foreign country.

Thinking back, Zhu Qianying understood why Bai Shao hadn’t contacted her in nearly a year from the time Zhu Qianying met Yan Xu until they got married.

It must have been the hardest time in her life.

"Mm!"

When it came to painful matters, Bai Shao had lost her free-spirited demeanor.

"What are your plans now? Do you plan on living with Uncle Dong or do you want to live on your own?"

As a friend, Zhu Qianying didn’t want to delve into Bai Shao’s past or pain, but was only concerned about her current situation.

"My dad still doesn’t know about Xiao Lu. I want to bring her to meet him first, and then decide."

Zhu Qianying nodded, then said, "If you decide to move out, I’ll help you look for an apartment. Yan Xu’s company has several nice apartments for rent."

"I know, I’ll need your help when the time comes!" Bai Shao had no plans to stand on ceremony.

When Zhu Qianying mentioned that Chen Jing had opened a restaurant, Bai Shao suggested to have their lunch there.

"It’s been many years since I’ve tasted Aunt Jing’s cooking. I miss it so much!"

To be honest, Zhu Qianying, reminded by Bai Shao’s return, also started reminiscing about the past.

After the two adults and three kids got into the car, in the front passenger seat, Yan Xu finally learned from the conversation that Bai Shao was two years older than Zhu Qianying. They were high school classmates and Bai Shao had gone to study abroad one month before he met Zhu Qianying. This was why he had never met Bai Shao.

Furthermore, Zhu Qianying and their son had only found out about Xiaolu’s existence today.

So, being best friends implies they have the same instinct to hide their children?

Yan Xu thought.

Presumably, Xiaolu’s father, like him, must be completely unaware of the fact that he’d been a father for several years?
