Chapter 359: Chapter 359: Why does she want to cry? (5th update)

The two started talking about Zhu Qianying going back to M country and eventually moved on to discussing their son starting school.

"By the way, I talked to the principal about our son’s situation the other day. He suggested that we could let our son take a test, and if he is willing, we could then place him in a class that corresponds to his actual academic level."

Both Yan and Zhu Qianying had experiences of skipping grades during their schooling, so they understood that sticking to the norm by placing their little boy in the middle class of kindergarten might not necessarily be in his best interest.

"Hmm, the same goes for Beibei and Guoguo. They are in the fourth grade now," she added.

The twins from the Ji Family inherited the Ji Family’s high IQ. They did not rigidly adhere to traditional educational methods.

"Mommy, I want to be in the first grade," their little boy, who had been quietly snuggling in Zhu Qianying’s arms, finally spoke up.

"Ok, then you’ll start first grade," she agreed.

As the school year had already begun after the Spring Festival, it was time for the second semester. Despite this, Yan, the Young Master, felt confident enough that his son could easily skip right into grades three or four, not just the first grade.

"Ying’er, since we’ve discussed our son’s schooling, I have a suggestion."

The three elders had finally returned from the backyard after having enough of the scenery. They each took off their shoes, climbed onto the platform, and sat down by the wall.

Zhu Qianying looked towards Yan’s mother-in-law, who had made the suggestion, then passed her a cup of tea, "Auntie, go ahead."

Yan’s mother took the cup, sipped some tea, wet her throat, and said, "We don’t mind wherever our son lives, but when he’s with you, could you please arrange for the driver to pick him up and drop him off?"

"I remember the school has a school bus service, right?" Zhu Qianying looked at Yan Han. She recalled hearing something about this from the principal, but wasn’t entirely sure.

Yan Han nodded, "Yes, there is a school bus service, but I believe what mom is suggesting is for safety reasons."

"Yes, exactly." Yan’s mother-in-law indeed was making the suggestion out of concern for the child’s safety.

Zhu Qianying always paid extra attention to matters concerning their son. After thinking for a moment, she agreed to the proposal.

"Alright, we’ll do as you suggested, Auntie."

Whether it was the Yi Family, the Zhu Family, or the Ji Family, they would definitely take this opportunity to do something. Hence, everyone being cautious was entirely normal.

After the elders sat down, the little boy who had just been acting like a lazy young master wriggled out of Zhu Qianying’s arms. He began to walk back and forth in front of the elders, at one point, bringing a cup of tea to one, "Grandpa, have some tea."

A bit later, he presented a plate of fruit to another, "Grandma, have some fruit."

And a while later, offered a plate of snacks to another, "Grandmother, have some snacks."

His diligent and thoughtful efforts to attend to all the elders were pleasing to them, and they were delighted.

Zhu Qianying naturally understood why the little boy was even more so diligent than usual, but she did not expose him. Instead, she just watched him with a smile as he buzzed around like a busy bee in front of the elders.

Once the elders had settled in, the atmosphere changed instantly. Everyone began to share funny stories from the past, creating a harmonious and pleasant atmosphere.

Under the night sky, the lake rippled slightly. A gentle breeze blew intermittently, making the wind chimes ring out pleasant ’diling’ sounds. The varying volumes of everyone’s voices were interspersed with bouts of laughter. All of these sounds seemed to meld together into a harmonious and pleasant symphony, softly resonating by Zhu Qianying’s ear.

She tilted her head up to see that whether it was on her mother’s face or on the faces of Yan Bo and his wife, all the elders present were smiling contently. Regardless of what they were saying, their gaze kept returning to the little boy.

Zhu Qianying felt perhaps she was a bit tipsy because everyone looked so familiar and intimate.

Yet, the time she had actually spent with Yan Bo and his wife couldn’t have been more than a month. However, she felt that they seemed more like family to her than the Zhu Family.

To confirm whether it was her intuition or she was just drunk, Zhu Qianying turned her head to Yan Han.

Yan Han’s gaze had been on Zhu Qianying and their son the whole time. Feeling her gaze on him, he took his gaze off their son.

When their eyes met, she had a slightly dazed look in her own.

Yan Han felt a tug at his heartstrings. Without any second thoughts, he reached out to touch her forehead, "Are you drunk?"

Zhu Qianying smiled at him and pushed his hand off her forehead, "No..."

She wanted to pull away from his touch but instead, her hand was enveloped in his warm palm. No matter how she tried to wriggle free, his palm held her hand securely like a clamshell.

"Go inside and bring out a blanket." It seemed the Eldest Young Master Yan had finally started issuing orders to the little boy.

Zhu Qianying chuckled internally. Half-expecting, half-hoping to see her son turn around, grab a pillow, and fling it right in the face of the Eldest Young Master Yan.

However, whether it was because the relationship between the two grandpas had genuinely improved or because the little boy knew his mother needed the blanket, one thing was for sure, the little boy obediently agreed, turned around, and waddled off into the house.

Very soon, the little boy returned with a soft blanket. Half-kneeling in front of Zhu Qianying, he looked at her face anxiously,

"Here! For you!" He handed the blanket to Yan instead.

Once he had handed over the blanket to Yan, the little boy placed his hand on Zhu Qianying’s forehead, "Are you really drunk?"

Apparently, he had overheard the conversation between his parents.

This little boy, his ears were really sharp!

"Don’t listen to your Dad’s nonsense!" Zhu Qianying said while grabbing her son’s hand, placing it on her face a little, and then taking a playful bite.

"He’s not talking nonsense. Mommy, you drank too much wine tonight..."

The little boy responded with a very serious and stern expression on his face, looking just like a little adult.

Zhu Qianying leaned over, kissed the stern expression off his face, then buried her face in his shoulder, "Because Mommy is happy!"

She was truly happy. Happy that her son could return to this warm family.

She was happy that he could enjoy the warmth of a normal family like any other child.

To any other child, these things might seem commonplace. But these were exactly the things she hadn’t dared to hope for over the past few years.

Her son would probably never know how she had always felt a strange sense of guilt towards him because of this.

But tonight, that guilt was finally assuaged...

She must have had a bit too much to drink!

But despite thinking as such, she felt the urge to grab her son and have a good cry.

Even though it was such a happy occasion, why did she feel like crying?
