Chapter 279: Chapter 279: Who Does Not Realize Their Fortune While Being Fortunate?

Zhu Qianying and her baby boy returned to Yan’s residence early in the morning. She had already designed the initial drafts of the wedding anniversary rings for the grandparents. Worried that they might struggle with online communication, she decided it was easier to just take her baby boy and pay them a visit at home.

Upon hearing that Zhu Qianying and her son were coming, the old Mrs. Yan instructed the kitchen staff to buy ingredients that she knew Zhu Qianying and her son liked. She also had someone specially go out and buy lots of snacks and fruits that she knew the little boy loved.

Yan Han really wanted to stay at home with Zhu Qianying and their son. However, early in the morning, Qin Xiu called and said that Yan Han’s attendance at the morning meeting was vital.

Irritated, Yan Han retorted, "What do I even need you for!" After he hung up the phone, he changed into his going-out clothes and rushed out the door.

Before he left, he didn’t forget to remind his mother, "Mom, remember to wait for me to come back before you have lunch!"

From the old Mrs. Yan’s perspective, as long as her grandson was there, her own son didn’t have any standing left.

"Get lost, get lost, get lost. I couldn’t care less about when you’re coming back. I’m feeding the baby boy when he gets hungry. Who’s going to wait for you?"

With a heavy heart, Yan Han stepped into the car. With the Spring Festival approaching, he began to plan his work schedule. He pondered on which tasks he could delegate, and which ones he could postpone. Under any circumstances, he was determined to spend this Spring Festival with his wife and son!

He had known Zhu Qianying for more than five years, yet it seemed like, apart from their own wedding, they had never celebrated any special day together. Whether it was the Mid-Autumn Festival, the Spring Festival, Valentine’s Day, their individual birthdays, or their mutual wedding anniversary, they hadn’t celebrated any of it!

The meeting held today needed Yan Han’s attendance; it was the annual shareholders’ meeting which took place at the end of each year. The high-ranking managers would present the annual performances of all departments in the Yanhuang corporation for the shareholders to review. And Yan Han, as Chairman and CEO, just couldn’t be absent.

However, during this end-of-year shareholders’ meeting, the Chairman seemed distracted, even more than during the usual quarterly shareholders’ meetings or monthly regular meetings. He would occasionally lose focus and check his watch, as if there was something urgent he needed to take care of.

"Sir, do you have something urgent to do?"

Qin Xiu, sitting next to him, observed Yan Han’s uncomfortable state and finally couldn’t help but ask.

"Yes, I need to go home and spend time with baby boy!"

Once upon a time, Yan Han considered his work as the greatest joy in his life. Now, however, he was preoccupied with the thought of going home to spend time with his little son.

Qin Xiu could not help but marvel: the world had changed. Those who were busy with work and life’s pursuits were now busy enjoying the company of their family. As a newly minted father himself, Qin Xiu could naturally understand Yan Han’s feelings. Once the executives finished reporting, he glanced at his watch and then spoke to Yan Han.

"Sir, you’re scheduled to meet with the second young master of the Ji Family for a discussion about next year’s cooperation project at noon. You cannot be late!"

Hearing these words, Yan Han pushed the pile of papers and data on his desk towards Qin Xiu. "I nearly forgot about that important matter. Qin special assistant, you will have to handle the summary of the rest of the meeting. I need to leave now."

All of the shareholders present knew that over the years, Yanhuang’s cooperation with the Ji Family and the capital’s Yang Family had increased. Thus, currently, both the Ji and Yang Family were equally important clients for Yanhuang.

Therefore, when they heard that Yan Han was going to meet with the second young master of the Ji family, the shareholders did not dare object. Instead, they urged Yan Han to hurry up, so as not to delay any significant matters.

Yan Han hurried back home. It was slightly past eleven o’clock, but the servants were already hustling about in the kitchen and the dining room, indeed about to prepare lunch.

In the living room, however, there was no sign of the grandparents or baby boy, only Zhu Qianying sitting on the sofa absorbed in her laptop.

"Where’s Ying’er and our baby boy?" he asked.

Zhu Qianying looked at him without raising her head. "Your son went to the backyard to play with his grandparents. It seems they plan on getting a pet dog. If you don’t like that idea, you better talk him out of it ASAP."

Knowing Yan Han as she did, Zhu Qianying felt that he wouldn’t like having pets. Firstly, since small animals inevitably produce odors, and secondly, their fur can fly around everywhere.

Both points are frowned upon by cleanliness-obsessed people.

It seemed as if Yan Han hadn’t fully heard her words. He took off his coat and walked towards her.

"What are you doing here by yourself? Browsing the web?" he asked, curiosity apparent in his expression.

"No, I’ve finished the initial design of your parents’ wedding anniversary rings. They took a look at it a while ago and gave some feedback, which I’m currently incorporating."

After the incident with Yi Wei, the two hadn’t seen each other for a couple of days. Now that they were reunited, both decided it was best not to mention the incident.

Yan Han rolled up the sleeves of his shirt and sat down beside her, leaning in naturally to get a closer look at what she was doing.

Zhu Qianying moved the laptop a bit so Yan Han could see the design she had enlarged on the screen.

"Take a look. If you have any suggestions, feel free to share them now."

Yan Han glanced at her sideways. "Even if I do make suggestions, are you going to change the design accordingly?"

With a shake of her head and a smile, Zhu Qianying answered, "Not necessarily. I will take everyone’s suggestions into consideration and try to incorporate them wisely into my design, but I won’t necessarily change anything just based on your suggestions."

Yan Han shifted his gaze to the screen. To be honest, this was the first time he had closely interacted with her at work since he learned about her real job.

The enlarged design on the screen, at first glance, seemed no different from what he would see in a jewelry store. However, on closer inspection, he noticed that the designs of the two rings were unique. The ruby settings took what seemed to be the form of stylized "Q-version" letters.

For the male version, the arrangement of rubies symbolized the flower-shaped "Q-version" of the letter "h," the first letter that corresponds to the pinyin of the Chinese character for his mother’s name "Huai." For the female version, it was a "Q-version" of the letter "b," corresponding to the first pinyin letter of his father’s name "Bo."

The design not only made the meaning clear, but also looked aesthetically pleasing. Even though Yan Han did not have extensive knowledge about jewelry, he could not help but praise Zhu Qianying for her thoughtful design.

As he moved on to the next diagram, he realized that from the side, the settings of the rings formed the numbers "4" and "0." Without a doubt, the combined "40" symbolized the Ruby Wedding Anniversary of his parents.

The "0" was for the male version, while the "4" was for the female version.

"Why is the male version ’0’ and the female version ’4’? My dad is older than my mom, after all," Yan Han asked, puzzled.

With great patience, Zhu Qianying explained, "In your father’s eyes, your mother is always more important than himself. That’s why the ring for your father is marked as ’0’ and your mother’s is ’4’."

"This is really beautiful and thoughtful!"

Yan Han wasn’t good with words of praise, but his admiration for these rings came from the bottom of his heart.

"So, my parents are still not satisfied with these designs?"

He would be grateful if she put this much thought into doing something for him, let alone the fact they might have any critiques.

His parents really didn’t know how good they had it!
