Chapter 273: Chapter 273 What a lousy necklace, it’s ugly! (Fifth Update)
Seemingly accustomed to the little boy’s knack for saying one thing while meaning another, Cheng Ye laughed and planted two more kisses on his forehead before finally relenting.
"Baby boy, where do you want to play? Today, Uncle Cheng is all yours!"
Compared to Yan Han, Cheng Ye seemed to have a better understanding of how to entertain a child.
Or perhaps, due to the four years he’d spent with the little boy, he had a complete grasp of the child’s temperament, making their interactions smoother and more effortless.
"Uncle Cheng, I want to see the tiger, the lion, and the dolphins..."
In short, he wanted to go to the animal park.
Cheng Ye turned to look for Zhu Qianying and, finding her just behind him, asked her with a smile, "Baby boy wants to go to the animal park, shall we go?"
"Hmm, let’s go!" Zhu Qianying thought about it. They’d been back in L City for quite some time, but it seemed like they hadn’t taken the little boy anywhere to play.
The L City’s Wild Animal Park had been around for over twenty years, but this was Zhu QianYing’s first visit.
As a child, neither Zhu Zhizhou nor Chen Jing had the time or inclination to bring her and Xiao Yu here. Once she’d grown older and could decide where to go for herself, she’d lost the innocence and interest for such leisurely excursions.
Because by the time she was sixteen or seventeen, she was already planning how to leave the Zhu Family.
Zhu Qianying thought she’d lost her childhood innocence, but in reality, her curiosity could be insatiable. Otherwise, she wouldn’t have been able to pursue a career as a designer, which required such a high degree of creativity.
Once they entered the animal park, Cheng Ye felt like he was playing babysitter to two children.
Whatever piqued the little boy’s curiosity, piqued Zhu Qianying’s interest as well. The mother and son would huddle together, whispering and chattering from time to time. Cheng Ye’s job was to carry their bags, food, and drinks, occasionally snapping a picture for them. He essentially served as their personal porter.
However, Cheng Ye was perfectly content with this role. Whether with his naked eye or through the camera, the delight on Zhu QianYing and the little boy’s faces was clear. And that was all he wanted - for the two of them to be happy.
Cheng Ye’s flight to Capital City was scheduled for six in the evening. The trio left the zoo at around four o’clock.
Zhu Qianying had initially intended to accompany Cheng Ye to the airport, but he insisted on taking a taxi. They bid farewell at the zoo’s entrance, and while Cheng Ye hailed a taxi to the airport, Zhu Qianying and the little boy were driven home by the Yan family’s driver.
"Baby boy, would you mind going straight home with Uncle? Mommy wants to visit the shop!"
After visiting the zoo, Zhu Qianying found herself full of new inspiration. She figured the Yan family’s driver could take the little boy home without issue.
As always, the little boy was considerate of Zhu Qianying’s needs. Understanding that his mother had work, he nodded obediently.
"But mommy, remember to pick me up tomorrow!"
This was an agreement Zhu Qianying had made with the old lady Yan, to allow the little boy to stay with the Yan family for a couple of days.
"Of course! You’re mommy’s precious baby. How could I not pick you up?" Zhu Qianying responded, cupping the little boy’s face with her hands and planting several vigorous kisses on him.
The little boy giggled. After Zhu Qianying finished her onslaught of kisses, he tried to mimic her, holding her face and ’gnawing’ on it haphazardly, leaving her face wet with his drool. He then tugged on her hand insistently, only relenting after they’d made a pinky promise. Then, finally content, he allowed her to get out of the car.
Zhu Qianying typically carried a large backpack with her laptop. So, as soon as she returned to the shop, she greeted everyone and immediately settled down at a counter, taking out her laptop to try and capture the new ideas that had emerged that day.
Half an hour later, the little boy called to report he’d arrived home safe and sound. After reporting his arrival, the little boy remembered to remind Zhu QianYing not to forget her dinner and not to come home too late. Zhu QianYing never found his chatter bothersome, on the contrary, she found his childlike, motherly insistence quite adorable.
And for that, she had to thank her own mother.
Back in M country, whenever Zhu QianYing was busy, her mother would call and chat needlessly for ages. Eventually, the little boy had also picked up this habit.
After a lengthy chat, the little boy received his mother’s obedient responses and was finally satisfied enough to hang up.
"Ying Zi, who were you on the phone with? You looked scared!"
Zhu Qianying’s subservient attitude towards whoever she was on phone with, earned plenty of ’licking boots’ remarks from her colleagues.
"The little ancestor in my house!" Zhu Qianying responded with a smile before immersing herself once again in her sketches.
She had seen a lot of wild animals in the zoo that day and had also accompanied the little boy to a cute dolphin show. Whether it was the cute little animals or the ferocious beasts, something had sparked her imagination resulting in an explosion of creative energy. After the call with the little boy, she dived headfirst into her own world, creating sketches with fervor. Everything around her seemed unrelated. Even the takeout food ordered for her by the shop assistant remained untouched beside her.
As night falls, the neon lights of the shops on the street outside the shop started to flicker. The sidewalks near the shops started to fill with pedestrians, indicating that the staff inside the shop will soon be busy.
Around eight o’clock, a young woman with a pretty face and a good figure entered the shop.
As soon as she entered, this woman, who could easily be identified as a wealthy individual from her clothing, asked the shop assistant to bring out the most expensive necklace in the shop.
At that moment, Zhu Qianying was still engrossed in her creative world and paid no attention to the VIP who had entered the shop.
The shop assistants, of course, were very attentive. They led the woman to the VIP area to sit down while one went to make some tea and another opened the display case to remove the necklace from the model’s neck.
The necklace was a Sapphire Platinum Necklace with a space-themed design. The stars and crescent shaped sapphires were inlayed on the platinum necklace. At first glance, the design was consistent with the theme - mysterious and grand, yet elegant and noble.
This beautiful woman, on the other hand, seemed to be a born aristocrat. With the shop assistants’ help, she put the necklace on her white neck. She was already quite beautiful and had good skin. Now, wearing a strapless sweater, the necklace on her neck made her look mysteriously serene.
"Miss, this necklace suits your aura perfectly. It’s splendid!"
The shop assistant said sincerely and pushed the mirror towards the woman.
First, the woman glanced at Zhu Qianying immersed in her creative world at the counter, then looked into the mirror and frowned, expressing her dissatisfaction.
"What kind of shitty necklace is this? It’s so ugly!"
