The butler seemed a little surprised, "Also place some in young master’s room?"

Yan Xu nodded his head, said nothing more, bent down to pick a few grapes, and began to peel them slowly.

Yan Yuan smiled again at her, "You two chat, I’m going to take a shower."

The old man was quite advanced in years, but still quite energetic.

After Yan Yuan had taken his shower, the chef had also finished preparing the meal.

Because Yan Xu had made a special request, half of the dishes on the dining table were Bai Lu’s favorites.

Seeing a table full of delicious dishes now, reason told her to hold back; this was, after all, another person’s house.

Clearly full, she went out to the courtyard for a walk to aid digestion after the meal.

Yan Yuan and Yan Xu were planning to move to the living room for tea. Upon hearing her, Yan Yuan patted Yan Xu’s shoulder, "Baby Boy, keep Xiao Lizi company."

Bai Lu quickly waved her hands, "Ah, no need, I’ll just wander around on my own. Yan Xu, aren’t you supposed not to walk too much? Just sit nicely."

Yan Xu didn’t insist and let her push the door open and walk out into the courtyard.

It was early winter, and the temperature difference between day and night was huge. Bai Lu had only walked a few steps when she shivered and tightened her coat, pulling the hood over her head.

She wondered whether to go back inside for some digestive medicine; in such cold weather, and dressed so lightly, wandering in the yard would either be foolish or driven by distress.

But she was neither foolish nor distressed, so why suffer out here?

She turned a corner intending to go directly back to the bedroom, but after only a couple of steps, she heard the butler calling from behind, "Doctor Bai!"

Bai Lu stopped in her tracks and turned to look at him.

The butler, carrying a black piece of clothing, jogged over, slightly out of breath, "Young Master said it’s cold outside, he wants you to wear an extra coat."

Bai Lu looked at the black down long coat in his hands, "Yan Xu’s coat?"

The butler hummed in acknowledgment, "Doctor Bai’s clothes have all been taken, this coat was just taken out of the young master’s wardrobe."

Bai Lu was surprised but didn’t show any disdain.

She smiled and took the coat, "Thank you! I was just shivering from the cold!"

The coat was long and big, and when Bai Lu wore it, she looked like a child who had slipped on an adult’s clothes.

She pulled the collar up to cover most of her face, with the hem extending below her calves, wrapping herself tightly. However, after wearing it for a little while, she felt warm all over, as if she had a furnace tucked inside her clothes.

After walking outside in her coat for half an hour, she returned to the house where Yan Xu was still seated in the living room playing games on his mobile phone.

When he saw her come in, he looked up and gave her a serious once-over, "Cold?"

Bai Lu had already walked over to him, naturally pulling her hand out of her pocket and reaching over to touch his face, "Not cold, look, my hands are sweating from the warmth."

Such an action was common family interaction.

It wasn’t until her hand touched his face that she realized this man was Yan Xu, not her brother Daddy or Mommy!

"The food in your house is too delicious; I accidentally ate too much."

Her dad and Yan Xu’s dad were pretty much cut from the same cloth, utterly enslaved by their wives, to the point of complimenting even a fart from them as fragrant.

Yan Xu’s smile slowly grew, "Then I guess it must be pretty awful..."

Bai Lu took another sip of her juice, licking her lips with a laugh.

"My Dad is very lucky; with plenty of money, he could hire any number of chefs to cater to him, never needing to eat the swill my Mommy cooks. Poor me, I ate it for five or six years, believing that all Mommys in the world cook like this because my Mommy said, all capable mommies earning money for the family outside cook horribly. I was so naive back then! I actually believed her fibs until I came back to the country and tasted the food your Mommy cooked..."

When Bai Lu talked about her Mommy’s cooking, she was ruthless.

Yan Xu couldn’t help but laugh lightly at what he heard.

Bai Lu paused, tilted her head back and drained the half a glass of juice in the cup, before continuing, "I’m not lying to you, when I first tasted your Mommy’s cooking, I almost doubted I was actually born to my mother and not picked up somewhere!"

Smiling, Yan Xu replied, "Aunt Spoon would be very sad to hear that."

Bai Lu pouted, "She won’t be sad, after all, she only has eyes for my Dad. Yen Yen and I might as well be adopted!"

Of course, Bai Lu’s words were just teasing.

Parents always love to show off their love in front of their adult children; she couldn’t help feeling a bit jealous and needed to vent!
