Chapter 1020: Chapter 1017: Afraid You’ll Get Sick from Holding It In
When the fireworks "bang" shot into the sky, Tong Xiaohua wrapped herself tightly in her coat, sitting cross-legged in the middle of a cushion.
She looked up, the red, yellow, blue, and green of the fireworks reflecting bright patches of light on her face.
She held her breath, watching the sparks shoot out from the firework tube in Yan Bo’s hands, racing to the heavens before "bang" bursting open in the dark night sky.
The seven-colored sparks adorned the night sky with a breathtaking display of colors, leaving Tong Xiaohua utterly mesmerized.
She had never thought that fireworks viewed up close could be so beautiful.
As she watched the fireworks bloom one after another in the night sky, Tong Xiaohua’s gaze withdrew from the dazzling spectacle and settled on Yan Bo, a few meters away, who was concentrating on setting off the fireworks.
After staring at him for a few seconds, she pushed herself up, walked over to him, and wrapped her arms around his waist from behind, resting her face on his broad back.
"Why don’t you sit over there to watch?"
Yan Bo, his hands occupied with the fireworks, couldn’t pull her around to his front and only turned his head to ask.
Tong Xiaohua buried her head in his back, rubbing vigorously, "I’m cold!"
Yan Bo frowned slightly, anxiously asking, "Aren’t you wearing enough?"
Tong Xiaohua ignored him, lifted her head to watch the successive bursts of fireworks filling the sky, and then said, "No, it’s not cold anymore!"
Yan Bo paused for a moment, savored her words, and without asking further, a gentle smile spread across his lips.
Clinging to him like a koala, Tong Xiaohua watched the colorful lights flicker on and off, on and off, until she couldn’t help but question him.
"Why didn’t you invite more people over?"
"Because I don’t want anyone disturbing our private world. Wouldn’t inviting someone else be like bringing in a third wheel?"
Tong Xiaohua had not thought about these things until he mentioned it, and now her cheeks, which the wind had chilled a bit, started to burn.
The hands wrapped around Yan Bo’s waist tightened involuntarily.
Without speaking further, Yan Bo continued setting off fireworks with slight distraction, regretting a bit in his heart.
Such a romantic scene indeed should have been executed by someone else. Then, he and Tong Xiaohua could lie together, enjoying the brilliant fireworks and whispering sweet nothings.
"Let’s just stop, shall we?"
The voice came from Tong Xiaohua, who was leaning against him.
"What, tired of watching?"
"Not exactly..."
"Then why?"
Yan Bo didn’t immediately put down the fireworks. He thought Tong Xiaohua was concerned about him getting tired, hence affectionately suggesting they stop.
"Let’s sit down and chat..." Tong Xiaohua paused, seemingly afraid the reason wasn’t compelling enough, and added, "I’ve never really appreciated the night view here!"
Yan Bo curved his lips, "Alright, after this firework, we’ll sit down and truly appreciate the night view here."
When they finally sat close together, Yan Bo pulled her into his arms, lowered his head to capture her lips, and lightly pecked them as he asked, "Actually, you don’t really want to appreciate the night view, do you? You just want to be close to me, right?"
Tong Xiaohua bit his lips with her mouth, biting hard as she chided.
"If you know, why ask?"
Yan Bo decisively stopped talking and domineeringly sucked on her lips, deepening the kiss bit by bit.
The night grew heavy, and as the wind passed, it rustled through the branches with a "creak," the surface of the pond rippling under the breeze’s touch.
The man and woman kissing on the lawn paid no attention to these sounds, feeling only that in this cold night, their passionate kiss was like a torch thrown into a pile of dry wood, igniting them both.
Their breathing grew hurried, and Yan Bo’s hands, at some point, had slipped underneath the wide hem of her coat.
His palm brushed her smooth back, eliciting a sudden shiver from her.
Yan Bo was slightly panting, his lips slid from hers to her chin, then down her neck to her collarbone.
Tong Xiaohua struggled a bit, "Don’t..."
She and he had been dating for nearly half a year, but Yan Bo had always been a perfect gentleman, their most intimate contact being nothing more than kissing.
This was the first time he had so candidly expressed his inner desires through his actions.
Because she had never experienced this before, Tong Xiaohua couldn’t help but feel flustered.
Yan Bo’s wandering hand on her back stopped at her one word.
He buried his face in her collarbone and deeply kissed her, then his lips moved to her ear as he whispered with a light pant,
"Be good, I won’t touch you inappropriately, okay?"
His words, filled with a faint plea, Tong Xiaohua was just not ready for such intimacy, it wasn’t that she truly resisted his touch.
Hearing his pitiful words, how could she say no?
"Mhm..."
Having agreed, she buried her burning face deeply into the nape of his neck.
Yan Bo’s hand drew small circles on the small of her back with care, the pressure gentle yet meticulous.
From initially being rigid, Tong Xiaohua eventually melted into a puddle, completely limp in his embrace.
Who knows how much time had passed before Yan Bo finally withdrew his hand and, opening his arms wide, pulled her tightly into his embrace.
"I really wish I could just hold you like this forever!" Yan Bo said through clenched teeth into her ear.
Tong Xiaohua lifted her head within his embrace, her eyes misted over with a thick fog as she gazed at him.
"Can you wait for me just a bit longer, please?"
Yan Bo paused for a moment, and after a long while, he lowered his head and gently kissed the tip of her nose.
"Silly girl, I’m not pressuring you. We can take our time, there’s no rush!"
Tong Xiaohua coughed twice and, emboldened by the dim night, playfully teased him.
"I’m just worried you’ll make yourself sick holding it in."
Yan Bo stared at her silently, and after a few seconds, suddenly lowered his head and captured her lips again.
In the mansion, just as it was about time for the countdown, Tong’s mother bumped into Tong’s eldest brother.
"Hey, where do you think those two ran off to set off fireworks?"
Tong’s eldest brother wrapped his arms around her, kissed her forehead leisurely, and said indifferently, "Who knows."
Tong’s mother glanced at him, "You really don’t care?"
Tong’s eldest brother huffed, "For all we know, they might not have gone to set off fireworks at all but rather to spend some alone time together."
Tong’s mother detected the sourness in his words and chuckled twice, "Weren’t you eager to marry off your daughter tonight? Why the change of heart now?"
Tong’s eldest brother shifted his gaze to the television, "Who says I can’t bear it? I simply can’t be bothered to intervene. After all, the daughter will eventually marry off, won’t she?"
"That’s true, but weren’t you considering having Xiao Yan marry into our family?"
Tong’s eldest brother stiffened and glanced down at her.
"Don’t talk nonsense, I’ve never said anything like that."
Tong’s mother looked at him knowingly, "Of course, you wouldn’t say it outright, but do you think Xiao Yan is so oblivious? He must have guessed your intentions already."
Without defending further, Tong’s eldest brother only asked, "So you think he would agree?"
Tong’s mother pondered with a thoughtful expression, "That’s really hard to say!"
