Chapter 1000 - 997: I Miss You
Chapter 1000: Chapter 997: I Miss You
Tong Xiaohua returned to the hotel, took a bath, and lay on the bed, but couldn’t fall asleep at all.
Despite being awake for a day and a night, she just couldn’t close her eyes and sleep.
Worrying about Yan Bo was one thing, but the utterly inflexible attitude of Yan Bo’s parents also stressed her out.
Her mobile phone, which she had been holding all along, had remained silent. Tong Xiaohua unlocked her phone and started typing out a message, letter by letter.
"Yan Bo, where are you? What should I do?"
After typing the message, her finger hovered over the send button for a long time but in the end, she deleted the message, one letter at a time.
She was indeed under a lot of pressure and felt terrible.
But Yan Bo’s pressure must be even greater, and he must feel even worse than she did.
Because he was going against his own parents, the ones who brought him into this world and raised him.
She was an adult, not a child anymore. She had promised to protect their relationship with him, so she shouldn’t be running to Yan Bo with complaints over such trivial matters.
At a time like this, she should be his pillar of support, not an additional burden.
After coming to this realization, Tong Xiaohua let out a soft sigh and typed a new string of words into her phone.
"Your mother is feeling much better today, the doctor said the inflammation has subsided, you don’t have to worry too much."
After sending the message, there was still no reply for a long time.
In the end, she could hardly remember how she fell asleep.
When she woke up, it was already afternoon. Tong Xiaohua checked the time and found it strange that Brother Yang hadn’t disturbed her at all.
Brother Yang’s room was next door, but Tong Xiaohua didn’t feel like getting out of bed and instead picked up the phone right from under the quilt.
"Brother Yang, why didn’t you wake me? Have you had lunch yet?" There was still a hint of sleepiness in Tong Xiaohua’s voice, a lazy lilt to it.
The other side paused for a moment, "Miss, you’re awake? I’m not at the hotel now, if you’re hungry you can call the front desk and ask them to send up a meal."
Tong Xiaohua naturally asked, "Are you at the hospital?"
She assumed Brother Yang had gone back to the hospital to continue his vigilance after a nap.
There was silence on the other end again, and then he said, "No, Miss, I’m near the Third Young Master’s place."
The Yan Family wasn’t very far from the hotel where Tong Xiaohua was staying. Hearing Brother Yang’s words, her first reaction was to sit up in bed.
"You’re nearby his house? Wait for me, I’m coming right now."
"Don’t! I’ve been watching all morning, and there’s been no sign of anyone. Just wait at the hotel, I’ll bring you back something to eat."
Brother Yang had come as a bodyguard, of course, and knew that leaving Tong Xiaohua alone in the hotel could be risky.
Of course, the Tong Family in Capital City didn’t likely have any enemies. The only fear was whether the Yan Family would do something drastic.
Tong Xiaohua thought it through and figured Yan Bo was indeed unlikely to be at the Yan Family.
"Okay, then I’ll wait for you to come back."
About half an hour later, Brother Yang brought back some food, and as they ate and talked, they essentially came to the same conclusion.
Without knowing anyone other than a few people from the Yan Family and Tao Jia, and if the Yan Family really hid Yan Bo away, staying here wouldn’t help her find him.
"Brother Yang, I think we should head back to L City first."
Her dad and mom were still on vacation, and all the Tong Family’s affairs were weighing on Uncle Ming’s shoulders. Tong Xiaohua felt somewhat sorry for him.
She had taken over the Tong Family’s affairs for over half a year now, and in that time, she had experienced a fair share of ups and downs, with the last crisis profoundly highlighting the pressure and responsibility of being the head of the Tong Family.
"That Third Young Master..."
In Brother Yang’s eyes, though Tong Xiaohua was his boss, she was also a passionately involved little girl.
"Let’s head back first, then we’ll ask around for information, and make arrangements based on what we find out," he suggested.
Staying here would be a mere waste of time.
Having made up her mind, Tong Xiaohua and Brother Yang immediately set off, checked out of their hotel, and rushed to the airport.
Before boarding, Tong Xiaohua sent one more message to Yan Bo.
"I’m going back to L City to take care of business. If you get this message, remember to reply."
After sending it, she typed a few more words with a heavy heart and sent them off too.
"I miss you a lot!"
Arriving back in L City around eight, Tong Xiaohua saw Qin Ming who had come to the airport specifically to pick her up.
"Uncle Ming, I’m sorry for the trouble, and thank you for coming!"
Qin Ming patted her shoulder and opened the car door for her.
"I’ve already asked a few friends to help look into it. You should also ask the Eldest Young Master of the Yan Family to see if they have any leads."
Tong Xiaohua shook her head, "I asked, but Big Brother Yan wasn’t clear about it, and neither was Second Sister."
Actually, both Big Brother Yan and Second Sister had said similar things to Tong Xiaohua, "We don’t oppose you, but we won’t go out of our way to help you either."
Tong Xiaohua felt that both Big Brother Yan and Second Sister probably knew Yan Bo’s whereabouts, and were deliberately keeping it secret because they sided with their parents in this matter.
She had no right to blame them; after all, from their perspective, it was indeed safer to keep Yan Bo away from her.
"Then there’s nothing we can do, we can only hope for some news from the people I asked to inquire," Qin Ming said, and after a moment of thought, he reminded Tong Xiaohua, "Does the Third Young Master have any friends you know? You could try contacting them."
These were the things Tong Xiaohua had already sifted through during the day and night she spent sitting in the hospital corridor.
She even made a phone call to the accountant partner that Yan Bo had introduced to help her with the company’s accounts.
He gave her this response, "I’m sorry, I really don’t know his whereabouts. However, with his special status, there could be many reasons for his disappearance. As long as his family is acting normal, you can rest assured."
In other words, as long as the rest of the Yan Family seemed unaffected, it meant Yan Bo was most likely safe.
"Uncle Ming, I’m a bit tired and want to sleep for a while. Could you wake me when we get home?"
Tong Xiaohua wanted to talk more with Qin Ming about Yan Bo and the Tong Family affairs during her absence, but she was simply too exhausted, her eyelids fighting each other and her mind felt as if it had been stuffed with grass.
The next day after returning to L City, Tong Xiaohua visited Yanhuang.
Di Xu had already heard from a phone conversation that Yan Bo had suddenly disappeared, but coming from a common family, the most influential people he knew were probably just Yan Bo, Tong Xiaohua, and a few others like Tao Jia.
Hence, though he was anxious, he wasn’t able to provide much assistance to Tong Xiaohua in this matter.
"Senior Brother, don’t say that. I’m really grateful that you’re looking after Yanhuang!"
She wasn’t naive; as soon as she entered the company, she could tell that even without Yan Bo, Yanhuang was running smoothly and without any major issues. Di Xu and Miss Guo’s efforts had clearly played a big part.
"Why bother with such formalities? The most important thing right now is to find the boss as soon as possible, isn’t it?"
