Cucking The Demon King -
Chapter 83: His warmth
Chapter 83: His warmth
Emma mulled over Liam’s words, her lips pressing into a thin line.
She had been so caught up in the casual atmosphere that she had completely disregarded the seriousness of their mission.
What if there had been enemies lurking?
What if someone had been watching them?
She was a Silvagold—a name that carried prestige, strength, and responsibility.
She was supposed to be the wiser one in situations like this.
Yet, she had just acted... stupidly.
Her shoulders slumped as embarrassment sank deep into her bones.
’I’m so dumb.’ She thought, clenching her fists, as she bit the inside of her cheek.
How could she have been so reckless?
Liam noticed her downcast expression.
A sigh escaped his lips as he turned slightly toward her.
"Hey, don’t think about it too much."
Emma glanced at him, startled.
Liam’s face was as calm as ever, but there was a certain softness in his eyes.
"It’s normal to get caught up in the moment," He continued. "That’s actually why I came here in the first place... but then, I realised I wasn’t thinking right
Emma blinked.
Then, to her own surprise—
She chuckled.
His words sounded so ridiculous in a way that she couldn’t help but laugh.
Her chuckle turned into a soft laugh as she shook her head.
Meanwhile, from behind the counter, Eva continued sneaking glances at them.
She had been silent the entire time, observing their conversation with a strange look in her eyes.
Liam was a demon.
A being who thrived on deception, destruction, and suffering.
Yet...
Here he was, consoling a the knight king’s daughter and making her laugh.
Eva shook her head.
’What a strange demon indeed.’ She thought.
She couldn’t wrap her head around it.
If he had a motive behind this, she couldn’t see it.
And perhaps... that was the scariest thing of all.
Liam and Emma eventually turned toward the exit.
Their footsteps echoed lightly against the wooden floor as they made their way toward the tavern’s entrance.
Eva released a quiet breath.
Relief flooded her chest as she watched them leave.
Finally.
She could breathe freely again, without that suffocating pressure weighing down on her.
With Liam gone, she wouldn’t have to worry about his piercing gaze, his warnings, or the overwhelming sense of danger he carried.
She placed the mug down and exhaled slowly.
Now, the question was—
Should I continue my original mission?
Her fingers twitched.
That had been her purpose in coming here in the first place.
She had something important to do.
But...
She hesitated.
Liam had already seen through her illusion, and he also knew her identity.
Though she wasn’t sure yet, a part of her felt like he knew a lot more than just her name.
If she made even the slightest move, he would probably notice.
And she knew what would happen if she got on his bad side.
She swallowed, glancing toward the exit.
No, she couldn’t risk it.
It was far too dangerous.
Liam would surely be keeping an eye on her.
What a terrible situation.
No matter what she did, she was doomed.
If she continued with her mission, she would attract Liam’s wrath.
But if she backed out now...
She had essentially committed treason.
Either way, she was in deep trouble.
A terrible situation indeed.
And the worst part?
She didn’t even know what step to take next.
’I wonder... if it was you in this situation, what will you do...?’ She mumbled inwardly, a strange glint flashing across her eye.
But then, her expression quickly returned back to normal, and she sighed.
’Whatever.’ She thought, snapping her fingers.
Immediately, all the illusion came undone.
The people dissolved into black smoke, along with the chairs and tables.
All that was left was a large empty hall, just like the way it was before.
’I’ll just have to find a way... to survive, like I’ve always done.’ Eva thought, stretching her hand to the side.
A thin thorn immediately sprouted beneath her hat, gently lifting it before bringing it to her.
She took the hat, placing it on her head, while the thorn rapidly dissolved back into smoke.
’What a pain.’ She mumbled, clicking her tongue in annoyance.

Emma wrapped her hands around herself, feeling the air grow a bit colder.
Liam, who was walking close to her, noticed this, and suddenly pulled her closer to himself.
The girl gasped, her cheeks reddening.
’So warm...’ She thought, subconsciously wrapping her arm around his.
Immediately, all the cold she was feeling vanished, with only Liam’s warmth coursing through her.
The streets were mostly deserted, save for the occasional flickering of lanterns along the pathways.
"The night sure is chilly huh?" His voice came from above her, to which she simply smiled, without letting go of his arm.
"Yeah, but being with you makes... it a lot better." She muttered.
As soon as she said those words, her eyes widened in realisation.
"W-wait... that was..." She mumbled, her words slurring towards the end.
Liam simply chuckled, finding her reaction quite cute.
As they walked back toward the inn, Emma found herself glancing at Liam from time to time.
Despite everything, she couldn’t help but feel at ease around him.
His presence was strange—intimidating at times, yet oddly comforting.
But that brief moment of peace was shattered the second they reached the inn.
Standing near the entrance was Rex Silvagold—Emma’s twin brother.
His arms were crossed over his chest, and his eyes glowed under the dim lantern light.
A deep frown marred his face as he watched them approach.
His gaze flickered between Emma and Liam, and his expression darkened.
"Where have you two been?" He asked, his voice low but heavy with irritation.
Emma froze.
Her shoulders tensed instinctively at her brother’s tone.
She had known this was coming.
She should have expected it.
But somehow, being faced with his intense scrutiny still sent a shiver down her spine.
Liam, however, remained unfazed.
Without a word, he reached out and placed a hand on Emma’s shoulder.
The second his fingers brushed against her, a strange sensation washed over her.
It was like... a sudden wave of calm.
Her breathing steadied, and the tension that had coiled inside her chest melted away.
The anxiety she had felt just moments ago disappeared as if it had never existed.
And then—
Her cheeks flushed.
Her pulse quickened.
She felt warm once again, as though she had been wrapped in a soft embrace.
A strange, unfamiliar feeling bloomed inside her chest, and a small part of her didn’t want him to let go.
It was almost... heavenly.
She barely even noticed the way her body reacted—how her fingers curled slightly, how her breath hitched just the tiniest bit.
But Rex noticed.
And it only infuriated him further.
His frown deepened, his fingers twitching at his sides.
"What the hell is this?" He growled.
The way Liam’s hand lingered on his sister’s shoulder—
The way Emma reacted to it—
It felt like a deliberate act of mockery.
His entire body tensed, and he clenched his jaw in annoyance.
He took a step towards them, his hands clenched into a tight fist.
"Where were you two?" He asked again, this time with more force.
Emma instinctively shrank back, but Liam didn’t move his hand away.
Instead, he sighed.
"You’re shouting too much," Liam remarked, his tone nonchalant.
Rex’s eyes widened.
His annoyance twisted into full-blown anger.
"Don’t ignore my question!" He snapped, his voice rising.
Then, suddenly—
He lunged at Emma.
It was an intimidation tactic, meant to make her cower—to make her feel small beneath his presence, just like he always had.
But before he could even get close—
Liam moved.
Effortlessly.
His body shifted, stepping in between them.
And with a single, light push—
Rex was sent flying.
He crashed into the inn’s wooden wall with a loud thud, the impact rattling the frame.
A pained grunt escaped his lips as he crumpled to the ground.
The entire room went silent.
For a long moment, Rex didn’t move.
Then—
He slowly lifted his head, his eyes flickering with disbelief.
He had always been feared by the two of them, or rather, he was supposed to be feared by them.
But now, his image had been practically reduced to one Liam could easily fling like a loser.
His teeth clenched together, fingers trembling against the floor as he pushed himself up.
But as he looked up at Liam—
A flash of memory struck him like lightning.
The vivid sensation of his face being slammed into the ground, which he had experienced in his dream.
A sharp pain immediately stung from his head, almost as if he could still feel the pain even now, and a chill crept up his spine.
All the courage he has built up to confront Liam shattered in an instant.
His lips parted, but they felt too heavy, and no words came out.
His fists clenched at his sides, but he didn’t dare move forward again.
Instead, he averted his gaze.
