Cucking The Demon King -
Chapter 113: Unto the next
Chapter 113: Unto the next
"I only attacked because I was bored. What’s the problem with that?" Elsa shot back, narrowing her eyes at the knight.
Emerald’s expression darkened. "The problem, Elsa, is that this isn’t your cozy noble house where you can do whatever you please."
Her voice carried a sharp edge, her patience clearly wearing thin.
This was the second time Elsa was disobeying her instructions, and she had already had enough of it.
"We’re in enemy territory. We don’t know what we’re dealing with, and yet you just revealed your abilities for no good reason."
Elsa frowned, clearly unimpressed. "So what? It’s not like they stood a chance against me." She crossed her arms, her blue eyes flashing with defiance.
"Or are you saying I should’ve just stood around and done nothing?" She said, clicking her tongue.
Emerald’s gaze suddenly turned cold, her expression sharp and indifferent.
A sharp, yet chilling pressure suddenly bursted out of her body, bearing down on the young noble girl.
"Ugh..." Elsa grunted, feeling her knees buckle under the pressure.
She gnashed her teeth, summoning all the willpower within her to look back at the knight.
However, Emerald didn’t seem to care about what was going through her mind, or her defiant gaze.
"I’m saying... caution is necessary." Her voice dropped slightly, her tone growing even more serious.
"We don’t know how many more of them there are. We don’t know how strong our enemy truly is. And most of all, we don’t know if this was a trap to bait us into acting carelessly."
Though her voice seemed cool, like an adult giving a little kid advice, the insane pressure oozing out of her made it terrifying to Elsa.
’She’s... so strong.’ She mumbled inwardly, beads of sweat rolling down her face.
She felt like her lungs were heavy, and even something as easy as breathing became somewhat of a chore.
The most terrifying part was that the other two girls didn’t seem to be affected her the knight’s mana pressure, not even in the slightest.
However, their worried gazes reflected that they knew how angry Emerald was.
A heavy silence settled between them. Lela and Cynthia exchanged glances, feeling the weight of the tension in the air.
Cynthia finally spoke, her voice quiet but firm. "Emerald is right."
She clenched her fists, recalling how helpless she and Lela had been just moments ago.
"Those beasts... they weren’t normal. The first one we fought was strong, but the others were even stronger. That’s not natural."
Lela nodded in agreement. "And that shadowy figure... he knew about us. He called us students." Her brows furrowed. "Whoever he was, he’s been watching us."
At this, even Elsa’s confident smirk faltered slightly. She shifted uncomfortably, but quickly masked it with a scoff.
"But we won... shouldn’t that be... wha matters at the end?" She barely choked out, her knees already close to hitting the ground.
Emerald fixed her with a hard stare.
"Do this..." She mumbled, pointing at the pile of dead beasts and bodies spread across the street. "Seem like a win to you?"
"Our mission was meant to be secret, but now even that has been jeopardised." She said, clenching her fists.
"Life were meaninglessly lost, and we didn’t even get the information we need."
"Killing a couple of demonic beasts doesn’t change any of that."
"Now I ask you again...." She continued, narrowing her eyes at the girl. "Does any of this, seem like a win to you?"
At this point, Elsa could barely even breathe, her body frozen in terror.
"No... it doesn’t, I’m sorry..." She found herself mumbling her gaze casted to the ground.
Upon seeing how the proud academy belle was reduced to humility by Emerald, Cynthia and Lela glanced at themselves, subconsciously making a remark never to cross the knight’s path.
They now fully understood why she was chosen to lead them on this mission.
It wasn’t just because of her beauty, this woman... was truly terrifying.
Cynthia shivered. "S-so... what do we do now?"
Emerald turned back to the two injured girls. "First, you two need to recover." Her gaze softened slightly, though her voice remained firm.
"Then, we regroup with Liam and the others. We need to piece together what’s happening here before we make any reckless moves."
Meanwhile, Elsa gasped in relief, the pressure on her having subsided.
’What the hell... how could I... beg like that?’ She mumbled inwardly, gnashing her teeth in frustration.
Just thinking of pathetic she must have looked when Emerald was scolding her irritated her, and she clenched her fists in annoyance.
’Damn it...’ She seethed, too ashamed to even look up.
"Come along." Emerald’s voice startled her a bit, breaking her out of her thoughts.
She slowly looked up, only to he surprised by the gaze looking back at her.
The knight’s expression was softened, with no trace of the earlier scolding—no harshness, no cold judgment.
Instead, her gaze held something unexpected.
Warmth.
It startled Elsa.
She had braced herself for more reprimands, more accusations of her recklessness. But instead, Emerald simply extended a hand toward her.
Elsa blinked.
Of all the things she expected, this wasn’t one of them.
For a brief moment, she remained still, staring at the knight with narrowed eyes. Was this pity? No. There was no condescension in Emerald’s face, only quiet understanding.
It was... unsettling.
She didn’t know why, but something about it made her chest tighten. She hated that she had acted so thoughtlessly, that she had looked so foolish in front of them.
But she had.
And for the first time, she was forced to acknowledge that.
She didn’t say a word as she stepped forward, closing the distance between them.
She had already made up her mind.
’I won’t make that mistake again.’
The thought settled in her mind like an oath, binding her to a newfound restraint. No more acting out of boredom. No more throwing herself into danger just because she felt like it. Next time... she would think first.
