Chapter 190: Chapter 174: Little 9 Tricks Brother into Coming Home_3
"You really can’t eat that!"
Meng Qianqian quickly walked into the pavilion.
Having stayed with the Lu Family for five years, she was well-acquainted with their snacks. The one Chen Long picked up was a rose pastry, which had peach filling added for texture.
But her brother was allergic to peaches.
Chen Long ignored her.
Meng Qianqian couldn’t just outright say, "I know your weakness," nor could she randomly claim the pastry was poisoned. If it were poisoned, Chen Long would know better than she did.
Left with no other choice, she steeled herself and said seriously, "I-I-I’m being serious! These snacks aren’t clean; a kid licked them!"
Seeing Chen Long’s indifferent stare, she lowered her head. "Really, it was my kid who licked them."
Just carried into the little flower garden by Ban Xia, the innocent Treasure Piggy, completely slandered, exclaimed, "...!!!"
Chen Long indeed put the pastry down.
Meng Qianqian took out an oil-paper-wrapped bag of fried treats from her pouch and handed it to him. "This one’s clean."
Chen Long gave her a cold glance.
"I’m not lying, really," Meng Qianqian said as she ate one herself. "See? Crispy, sweet, spicy—absolutely delicious!"
Chen Long didn’t budge.
Meng Qianqian glanced at the sword tassel that drooped to his shoulder in the wind and knowingly asked, "Who made this sword tassel for you? Since you always carry it, it must’ve been made by someone very important, right?"
That’s right—the important person is none other than—me, your sister!
Meng Qianqian’s face practically screamed, "Hurry up and praise me!"
Although she knew his praise would only be for the Little Nine of the past, not the current version of herself.
Chen Long stood up and left.
Meng Qianqian called out, "Why are you leaving?"
Chen Long replied, "You’re annoying."
"Little Nine, can you let Daddy have some peace and quiet for a while, please?"
"Are you saying I’m annoying?"
"Daddy didn’t mean it like that..."
"Hmph, I’m going to find Brother!"
The feisty little dumpling marched off, fuming.
"Brother, Brother! Little Nine wants to talk to you all day long! I have a whole basketful of things to say!"
"Alright."
"Brother, you’re not allowed to get annoyed with me."
"How could Brother ever be annoyed with you? I adore you too much for that! Whatever Little Nine says, Brother will listen."
"Then I’m going to start talking now!"
"Okay."
The young man gently patted her on the head, full of affection.
And so, she talked and talked, until she eventually fell into a sweet slumber in his embrace.
The brother who promised never to find her annoying had now coldly told her, "You’re annoying."
Meng Qianqian clenched her fists.
A brother who doesn’t cherish his sister... deserves a beating!
Meng Qianqian’s eyes glinted sharply as she stepped up onto the stone bench and leapt high into the air.
Her target was the heavy sword on his back.
The last time they crossed swords, it didn’t end well. This time, she was determined to see just how much her brother had improved over the years!
She might not be able to take on the Twelve Guards, but as luck would have it, she had just remembered a weakness in her brother’s fighting techniques.
Meng Qianqian curled her lips into a sly smile and lunged for the heavy sword on his back.
You can’t dodge this one because—you’re the one who taught me this move.
Chen Long didn’t dodge.
In fact, he didn’t even try.
He only felt a sudden surge of killing intent from behind. Just as he was about to counterattack, a loud *thud* sounded above his head. The killing intent disappeared immediately after.
Turns out, Meng Qianqian had overestimated her jump, shot straight up, and collided with the pavilion ceiling.
She clung to the roof for a full three seconds before sliding off with a *wobble*, landing face first in front of Chen Long with a heavy *splat*.
Trembling, she weakly raised a hand. "H-help me up..."
Chen Long: "..."
Fifteen minutes later.
In the pavilion, Meng Qianqian’s hands were wrapped in thick layers of gauze, making her look like two oversized sticky rice dumplings.
Her forehead was bruised, her eyes red, her nose sniffly, and she sobbed in a broken rhythm.
"All I did was offer you some fried treats... You didn’t appreciate them... And you called me annoying... Boohoo... Great, now look at me... I’m crippled... Is this what the people at the Princess Mansion do? Bully us poor commoners?"
Moments earlier, in an effort to prove he wasn’t a scoundrel, Chen Long had revealed his identity as a guard for the Princess Mansion.
Chen Long frowned. "I didn’t expect you to suddenly charge at me."
Meng Qianqian let out a loud wail and cried even harder. "You avoided me... and you’re still acting like you’re in the right..."
Chen Long’s temple throbbed. "You’re not seriously injured."
Meng Qianqian looked hurt. "But my hands are all swollen... Or are you accusing me of faking it... Oh, heaven forbid... Boohoo..."
Chen Long couldn’t take it any longer. "If you cry one more time, don’t blame me for killing you!"
Meng Qianqian, channeling the acting skills she learned from Grand Madam, wailed, "Go ahead! Kill me! Kill me! If you kill me, you’ll have touched me—and we won’t be able to clear this mess up!"
"You’re the one who asked me to pull you!"
"Then if I ask you to marry me, will you?"
"You—"
Meng Qianqian sniffled pitifully. "There is one way to preserve both of our reputations."
Chen Long: "What way?"
Meng Qianqian blinked mischievously. "You can be my brother."
