Gao Xin went to find some rope, tied it to a column on the second floor, and arranged it according to the method Meimei had mentioned before, utilizing a heavy object to pull open the collar.

Soon enough, he had switched the bearded man to a rat collar and without saying a word, hacked him again.

As for Silver Hand’s body, Gao Xin checked it over but could only sigh.

Silver Hand’s clothes had burned off long ago, his body completely bare, and any drugs would have been consumed long before, while those silver gloves were peppered with holes and twisted into scrap metal.

This guy ended up being the poorest of them all.

Checking the time, still half an hour left, Gao Xin went to search through other rooms, not sparing any of the attic boxes.

In the end, he also visited the hidden area beneath the tree, which had a narrow staircase leading down to a spacious dark room.

As for the floor, it was covered with many patterns, some of rats and others of cats and dogs, each quite large – a single pattern ample enough for 20 people to stand upon.

At most... the rat patterns appeared up to 20 times, the cat pattern at most once, and the dog pattern up to three times.

"And with the cat pattern appearing only one at a time, or not at all, this place is perilous for cats."

Gao Xin thought to himself that the bald man had found this early on but had hidden the fact. However, it wasn’t always people like the bald man who discovered this place, so normally this should be the battlefield.

"And if the exit is well-guarded, then what?"

Murmuring, Gao Xin suddenly noticed a recess at the end of the room that could be a passage.

To reach there, one faces numerous dangers, for the closer one gets, the faster the patterns change, likely keeping even rats at bay.

"A path to other exits?"

Thinking this through, Gao Xin impulsively took a few steps forward, stepping on a rat pattern to get a closer look.

Just then, the rat pattern beneath his feet suddenly changed to a cat.

Gao Xin, startled, quickly retreated back up the stairs.

Fortunately, nothing happened, and he touched his neck, "Is it because I’m also a cat?"

"But just now, if the pattern had changed to a dog, I probably would have been attacked by a trap, right? Maybe not instantly killed, but likely severely maimed."

"Too dangerous, the changes seem utterly random, no wonder the bald man also just stood by the stairs without venturing further."
