Chapter 57: Chapter 20 Who Dies First
Everyone was very annoyed, "Damn it, why did they have to make it so tight!"
"There’s still a way, we can use a rope, hang one end from the second floor, and use a weight to pull..." Meimei had an idea.
Hope rose again among everyone; it was a good method, albeit a bit troublesome to set up properly.
But just then, the bald man suddenly burst into action, seizing the opportunity when everyone was in disarray and Gao Xin was still unsteady, he rushed forward and grabbed the mechanical battle axe.
"Aoow!" Su Lei reacted incredibly fast, coiled up, sprang up, and bit down hard, dragging his body and hanging entirely by his teeth from the man’s arm.
"Ah! Are you a dog or something?" The bald man cried out in pain but still didn’t let go, pulling the huge axe out.
Gao Xin also lunged forward, and he too grabbed hold of the giant axe.
Meimei shouted, "What are you doing? Let go!"
Instead of the bald man responding, it was Gao Xin who shouted back at Meimei, "Shut up!"
Silver Hand turned his head, hearing the commotion and asked, "Was the axe taken?"
Gao Xin coldly said, "Not yet."
He and the bald man both grappled for the axe, their hands on it at the same time.
But since the bald man had grabbed it first, his hand was in the best position and quickly found the trigger.
"Whirr!"
The giant axe powered up!
And Su Lei was still biting the man, suspended in midair from his arm.
Gao Xin’s pupils shrank as he let go of the axe in the nick of time, grabbing Su Lei and pulling, and the two of them toppled to one side together.
At the same time, the bald man staggered, pulled by the force of the axe, and swung it out with a whoosh.
The slicing of air whooshed past, as the axe struck the marble floor beside them, splintering it, and the man himself fell to the ground.
However, he quickly rolled over, raised the giant axe, and warned everyone, "Don’t come closer!"
Gao Xin’s face darkened with anger and he remained silent.
Su Lei roared, "Son of a...!"
If it weren’t for Gao Xin’s rescue, he would have nearly been severed in two!
The others were also shocked by this turn of events, glaring angrily at the bald man.
If the axe were not in Gao Xin’s control, Silver Hand could simply seize the collar.
Silver Hand now had no hands... the only way he could get the collar was to burst Gao Xin’s head open.
The bald man said coldly, "I don’t care about you guys; this axe can protect one person, so why the hell open the damn collar!"
Meimei argued furiously, "If you open the collar, we can all live!"
Standing up, the bald man took position with his back against a pillar, wielding the axe, and said, "It’s not like I haven’t tried to help, but I just can’t open it."
"Who knows how much strength you need to pry this thing apart?"
"Why shouldn’t I just take the axe instead?"
Even though Silver Hand was blind, he still pinpointed the bald man’s location.
"Silver Hand, don’t come any closer, or I’ll swing this axe and kill you!" the bald man shouted desperately.
Facing his direction, Silver Hand said, "The design of the collar is clearly intended to prevent Glassman from opening it, and a Glassman’s strength cannot exceed three times his own body weight."
"Based on my previous feel, it probably takes about three to four hundred kilograms of force to unlock the collar."
Three to four hundred kilograms!
It sounded tough, but if they used Meimei’s method, it should be possible to open it.
However, this meant they needed the bald man’s cooperation since the collar was on Gao Xin’s neck and without a second person who could move freely, it was almost impossible to accomplish.
Not to mention the ever-threatening presence of Silver Hand...
So they needed the bald man’s help one way or another, even just wielding the axe in front of Silver Hand as a deterrent would suffice.
"...you get it? You damn well better help us!" Meimei urged desperately.
The bald man, with a stony face, replied, "Why don’t you ask Silver Hand to help? You trust him, don’t you? Let him unlock it."
The crowd was speechless, seeing that the man was dead set against cooperating and turned to look at Gao Xin.
Gao Xin still wasn’t speaking, only looking towards Silver Hand.
"This is the Atonement Game, huh..." Silver Hand muttered, beginning to chuckle lowly, his figure was so ghastly that the laughter seemed even more terrifying.
"No response? Don’t want to give away your position?"
"You’re forcing me to kill at random..."
It was only then that everyone realized why Gao Xin kept silent after the axe was seized.
The reason was he didn’t want to reveal his position; with everyone falling over in the previous confusion, the situation had been very chaotic, and Silver Hand wasn’t sure which sounds of movements were Gao Xin’s.
But if he got mad enough, he could very well kill them all.
"You can’t just not take the collar? Can’t you just take fewer atonement tickets? Didn’t you say you didn’t really want to kill us? Didn’t you say you recognized Gao Xin?" someone pleaded.
Shaking his head, Silver Hand said, "I must have it, no discussion; you all are not worth giving up these atonement tickets for."
At that moment, Gao Xin suddenly charged at the bald man and spoke out, "That’s right, we’re not worthy!"
"What’s this about ’no fights, no acquaintance’? You wouldn’t even care to ask my name!"
Hearing his voice, Silver Hand locked onto his position and charged over immediately.
The crowd was shocked, damn it, there was going to be a fight after all!
The bald man was also alarmed, "Don’t come here!"
He swung the giant axe, creating a howling wind.
Gao Xin circled around, aiming for the backside of the pillar where the bald man was.
Silver Hand followed him closely, going around with a bit more distance given the sound of the wind; though his absolute speed was faster than Gao Xin’s, if he had to go around the pillar, he wouldn’t catch up immediately, especially with Gao Xin able to see and the bald man wielding a giant axe between them.
Steadying his stance, the bald man swung his giant axe from left to right, back against the wall, attempting to drive Silver Hand away.
Unable to see, Silver Hand relied on sound to maintain distance around the pillar, but Gao Xin’s footsteps were always behind the bald man.
"Your name is Gao Xin, isn’t it? What’s there to ask?" Silver Hand chuckled.
Panting, Gao Xin replied, "Before, people only called me Brother Hard Labor, it was only after that people mentioned my full name."
