Chapter 239: Chapter 110: Monster Rousi

Among the trees, Luo Yan and the others advanced in fits and starts.

As they neared the highest peak, two ferocious dogs suddenly emerged from the jungle ahead, barking wildly at them.

"Awooo!"

However, before the dogs could bark a few times, several radiation wolves pounced on them and killed them.

A few bites were all it took to tear, devour, and utterly consume them.

The group walked past without giving it much thought and continued on their way.

Su Lei, however, listened intently with a side glance towards the dense forest ahead and suddenly said, "Wait a minute."

The others turned back to look at him: "What’s wrong?"

Su Lei opened his mouth, about to say something.

But Meimei had already grasped his intention and, placing her hand on his, said, "Enough, let’s hurry on our way, let’s go this way."

She indicated another path.

The group immediately followed; there were no set paths in the mountain, any direction would do.

Choosing not to take the high ground, they moved laterally around the peak, which amounted to the same thing.

Moving swiftly with wolves as their escort, they quickly skirted that highest peak.

Before they realized it, the group had reached a stony platform.

There were clearly split logs and signs of campfires.

Luo Yan was startled and turned back to Su Lei: "You discovered people earlier, didn’t you?"

Su Lei nodded: "Yes, I have Shock Sensing, and I could detect that there were quite a few people hidden in the jungle on that high ground."

Meimei then said: "I knew it... they must be from the mountain tribes. We’re fleeing for our lives, we don’t need any complications."

Luo Yan nodded, and the group was about to move on.

Suddenly, a roaring noise came from somewhere below the mountain.

As they climbed onto the stone platform, they discovered it offered a good vantage point overlooking the battle below.

On another hill, Gao Xin was in dire straits, being chased and assaulted by Rousi.

With a swing of his club, Rousi could smash a huge crater into the ground, raising dust clouds, and casually releasing Shockwaves that could overturn the nearby trees.

"Not good, Big Brother Xin has broken his legs." Su Lei exclaimed in shock.

Luo Yan crouched at the front of the stone platform and peered down with a grave expression: "He... he probably isn’t a match for Rousi."

Everyone watched the battle from the platform, and even though they couldn’t make out the details, they knew Gao Xin wasn’t faring well.

He was like a reed in the wind, on the verge of being killed at any moment.

Meimei bit her lip and said, "Should we go back and help him?"

Liu Xu replied: "But Brother told us to cover our retreat and ordered us not to concern ourselves with him."

"Besides, if we return, I fear we won’t be much help..."

Luo Yan furrowed his brow, looked back at the wolf pack, and said, "Does anyone know that Wild Communication thing? Can we get the wolves to go back and help him?"

The group looked at each other in confusion; none of them knew how.

But Gao Xin had mastered this skill long ago, so in theory, they should be able to acquire it as well.

Su Lei immediately leaped next to a wolf and kept trying to communicate: "Go help him, we don’t need so many wolves guarding us."

He was waving his hands while trying to imitate the sound of a dog barking.

But, the wolves remained indifferent; their task given by Gao Xin was to guard everyone.

Seeing this, the others followed suit, repeatedly trying to awaken this so-called Wild Communication.

Luo Yan watched the battle anxiously, growing more tense by the moment.

Among those present, no one knew Rousi’s standing better than him.

Perhaps he didn’t fully comprehend her strength.

But it could be inferred from her status within Yakutsk—she could participate in upper-level meetings, even brazenly arguing with the chief and taking Luo Yan home without anyone daring to stop her, leaving the chief with no choice but to pound the table in frustration.

Although it might also be due to her status as an elder with high seniority, considering that all the meeting members were as fierce as tigers, and some even as mighty as elephants.

If it weren’t for her also possessing significant strength, it wouldn’t have been so easy to compel her into making a military pledge to allow her to take Luo Yan away, would it?

Now observing Rousi’s destructive power, Luo Yan’s suspicions were further confirmed.

"Big Brother Xin, are you capable... Don’t die at the hands of this woman! Hurry and run!"

Luo Yan murmured to himself, already struggling to hold back from rushing to help.

Just then, Gao Xin suddenly let out a thunderous roar and transformed, donning a silver-white set of armor.

All at once, he was whole again; the lost leg and right palm—at least they seemed restored to view.

He was using the ability of Exoskeleton Armor to brace up his limbs...

In this way, his mobility was no longer hindered.

"Rousi! If you want to take Luo Yan away, start by defeating me!"

Gao Xin went into overdrive, surging in speed.

Seizing an opportunity, he made a fast and urgent slash.

"Pshht!" Gao Xin passed Rousi in the blink of an eye, the Demon Blade emitting plasmic edge, growing suddenly in length, and actually severed Rousi’s head from her body!

"Huh!" Luo Yan was taken aback; this sudden turn of events nearly gave him whiplash.

He realized that although Gao Xin’s strength was far inferior to Rousi’s, his reaction speed was still decent.

After all, a true wolf wasn’t much different from a young tiger.

Rousi’s attacks were careless in comparison, and Gao Xin’s moves were better by a margin, pulling off the unexpected now and then, capable of injuring Rousi.

Furthermore, with the Demon Blade’s sharpness and the intensity of its plasma, Gao Xin dealt high damage, naturally giving him a fighting chance.

The distress he showed earlier was actually a display of weakness, all for the sake of this killing blow.

However, the beheaded Rousi, unfazed, continued to stand upright.

What was more terrifying was that her body shot out like lightning and, akin to blocking a basketball, snatched her own head out of the air...

With a swift motion, she firmly reattached it to her neck!

"What!"

Gao Xin was truly startled; who could have thought that decapitating Rousi wouldn’t stop her; she could simply put her head back on?

In fact, Gao Xin too could perform this feat of reattaching one’s head, if the need arose.

If caught unprepared and about to be decapitated, all one needed to do was react quickly enough to issue a command to the body before being beheaded.
