Chapter 80: Daisy ’man-hater’ Chen
Chapter 80: Daisy ’man-hater’ Chen
Diana stiffened, ’’She is mine...’’
Despite expecting it, Maxim’s fingers clenched involuntarily.
Who is her father to you?
The question rested at the tip of his tongue when Angel poked her head out of the blanket and looked at him with wide eyes before she reached out towards him.
Maxim looked at the girl’s tiny hands moving towards him. His eyes softened. He inched closer to Diana and took Angel from her arms.
’’...Just not biologically,’’ Diana who was silent for so long finished her sentence as she let him take Angel.
Maxim paused.
Diana could not make out much from Maxim’s expressions. What is with that face?
He was happy, he looked calm. He was sad, he looked calm. He was shocked, he looked calm. No matter what he thought, he always looked unruffled. Like a painting. A beautiful one that. A hot—
’Stop Diana. Your thoughts are going haywire,’ her inner voice mocked her.
Diana pursed her lips as she glanced at the little girl who was now readily licking Maxim’s cheek like he was candy.
She leaned closer to Maxim.
Maxim was still contemplating over Diana’s ’not biologically’ when he suddenly felt a warm breath falling on his neck as the soft scent of her rose body wash enveloped him.
His calm expression faded into oblivion and his eyes widened.
But unfortunately, Diana did not see the change in his expression as she kissed Angel’s cheek and detached the girl’s clingy mouth from Maxim’s face before moving back to the other side of the bench.
By the time she glanced at Maxim, his expression had turned back to normal.
’’But we are still related biologically though,’’ she said to Maxim, trying to gouge an expression from him.
He remained calm, ’’How so?’’ Did her parents have another child?
But that did not make sense. Why would she leave her country with her little sister?
Diana yawned, leaning back on the bench.
Her beauty sleep was highly disturbed because of Angel’s night activities but at the end of the day, it only led to good things.
Angel talked for the first time.
Second, the awkward air between her and Maxim had dispersed.
Third, she was finally sharing about Angel with someone.
Truth be told, she had wanted to talk to Maxim about it long ago but initially, he had acted coldly towards her. Afterward, he never expressed any kind of curiosity so she felt like he was not interested in her emotional baggage.
In the back of her head, she knew that it was not like that.
And if she had to be honest, she knew that she was just being petty and childish.
She wanted him to ask her about it.
Diana felt embarrassed when she thought about her actions.
But she did not regret any of it. She did not forget the things he had said back then. He had told his mother that she was annoying.
Maybe it was in the heat of the moment or maybe he was irked because she interfered in his matters.
But, who cared? She was going to hold a grudge and be petty about it hmph!
’’Angel is Daisy’s biological daughter,’’ she looked at his face once she made the revelation.
The corner of his lips twitched, ’’Are you....’’ he paused for a moment as if he was looking for the right word, ’’...cracking a joke?"
Diana rolled her eyes, ’’Trust me when I discovered this, I had the same reaction as you.’’
Daisy’s daughter? Daisy ’man-hater’ Chen’s biological daughter?
She did not know whether she was shocked at the fact that her sister who hated men in general had a child whom she kept hidden for months after giving birth in secret or whether she wanted to look for the brave man who participated in this Angel making process by putting his soul on stake.
What sacrifices did he make to sleep with the she-devil?
God knows.
When she looked at Maxim, she noticed that he still looked at her like he was waiting for her to say that she was joking, ’’I am not joking. It’s true,’’ she said. At least, someone’s reaction was just like hers.
Meanwhile, her parents’ reaction was the most epic. At that moment, they looked like the world was coming to an end and god assigned them the duty to save it.
Maxim’s face cringed at her words.
Diana closed her eyes in annoyance, ’’Just look at you. You are easily convinced that I am Angel’s mother but you can’t trust me when I say that her real mother is Daisy,’’ But his reaction was not as abnormal though.
Anyone who knew Daisy would have the same reaction when they discovered that she had a daughter.
Maxim glanced at the baby girl who was softly snoring against his neck.
It was not that he did not trust Diana’s words.
If Diana told him that her elder sister was behind the bars after murdering a few men, he would not have blinked twice for that was something Daisy Chen was capable of.
He could not imagine that hellion of a woman treating this sweet child with love and care.
But then, he never imagined Diana would one day be at his workplace or even tell him that she was seeing him as a man now.
So, the Chen sisters made the impossible possible.
’’Where is she now?" What was Diana doing here with Daisy’s daughter?
But his question was met with silence.
He tilted his face to the side and was met with the sight of a sleeping Diana.
Her blonde hair cascaded in front of her face as her head slowly tilted off to the side.
She kept straightening her neck in her sleepy state but her head would start drooping to the side again.
Angel’s blanket which was lying on Diana’s shoulder slowly slipped off to her waist, revealing the thin nightgown that barely covered any of her skin.
Maxim’s breathing turned uneven as his gaze trailed from her neck, down to her collarbone, and...
