Crashing into an Old Flame
Chapter 315: Fiancé

Chapter 315: Fiancé

The next day.

’’Oh no,’’ As soon as Diana entered the car, she slapped her forehead, ’’I think I forgot my phone and some other things in our room.’’

’’I will go and get them for you,’’ Maxim suggested.

"You can’t find them all. I will be back in two minutes,’’ she was gone even before she finished speaking.

Maxim glanced at her retreating back till she was out of his sight.

Once she was gone, he leaned back on the seat and gently tapped the steering wheel, his gaze falling on the compartment box in the car.

Something flashed in his eyes.

He sat up straight before opening the box. A folded tissue laid there idly.

It was the very same tissue that Diana’s father had dropped in his pocket quietly before he left.

Maxim picked it up before opening it. The sight of an elegant cursive handwriting greeted his vision.

’I never once wanted to make things difficult for the both of you. Ever since the first time my daughter mentioned your name with that peace on her face, the confidence in her voice, I knew that you were the right man for her even though I had yet to meet you. Maybe it’s because of the childhood she had, I know my daughter would never settle for anything less when it comes to love or family. You both have my blessings.’

The letter, on one hand, gave Maxim a little bit of relief that at least he was not upset with Diana and that meant she was not on bad terms with her father but on other hand it gave rise to more questions.

If Diana’s father had been fine with their relationship all along, then why did he pretend like he did not like the idea of them being together? Just because his wife wanted that?

Maxim did not delve much into it.

As the car door opened, Maxim placed the tissue back in the box and closed it.

"Daisy is staying over for some time here,’’ Maxim spoke up.

’’Huh?" Diana was surprised. There was not a lot of luggage with them but whatever was there had been packed as they had to leave today.

Diana was busy with the packing so she had asked Maxim to confirm with Daisy and Ivy where they would be joining them.

But she was not expecting that Daisy would stay here.

Maxim nodded, ’’It’s because of Ryle.’’

Diana’s brows tugged together.

’’Apparently, he has some work in Beijing so he would not be able to leave now and Daisy has to tag along with him as well.’’

Diana sighed as she leaned back into her seat.

’’Don’t worry.’’

"I am not worried about just Daisy,’’ Diana mumbled.

’’Hmm?"

She arched a brow, ’’I am afraid of who will go down first if the both of them stay together,’’ she never had a right feeling when she saw Daisy and Ryle together.

’’It will be fine,’’ Maxim consoled.

Diana settled in her seat and turned to look at him.

She opened her mouth to speak but before she could say anything, something caught his attention from the angle she was sitting in.

Diana reached her hands towards his shirt and started unbuttoning it.

’’Ana,’’ Maxim gave her a look, ’’I know you want it but wait till we are home.’’

’’Shut up,’’ Diana could not even bother looking at him as her fingers moved faster. The moment she parted his shirt, a gasp escaped her mouth.

She looked at the ink on his chest in disbelief.

A tattoo.

There was a tattoo on his chest, right above his heart. She grazed her finger across it, feeling his racing heartbeat.

Her name.

Her name sprawled in beautiful cursive with a small heart at the end.

"Maxim..." She breathed.

’’You... Why..?"

He rolled his eyes, grabbed her wrist and tugged her closer, "You carved a heart for me on your hand. It is only right that I carve your name right here, next to my heart where you scribbled it randomly. There is no why to it?"

"Copycat,’’ she whispered.

"I only copy you."

Diana scoffed, "No woman is going to look at you in the future after what you’ve done."

"Oh, baby. Trust me I am the one not looking at any other woman," he smiled, "Every single part of me has belonged to you since the day we met."

Her vision blurred. This silly silly man.

He was making her fall for him even deeper and she felt like she was floating on clouds.

3 months later.

’’Ana, enough of this. Are you opening the door or shall I tear it down?" Maxim was on the verge of losing his calm.

’Click’

The door opened from inside and Diana stepped out with frustrated look on her face, ’’I am so done with you. What are you threatening me for?"

Maxim arched a brow as he checked the time on his watch, ’’Do you think you are being fair to me?" he glanced back at her, ’’It has been 6 hours 27 minutes and a couple of seconds since you locked yourself in to work on your book?’’

’’So?"

"We decided that your working time won’t exceed 5 hours,’’ Maxim stated, a bit exasperated at her cluelessness.

’’So what?" Diana deadpanned. When he gave her a blank look, she sighed and stood on her tiptoes before kissing his lips, ’’I am not this motivated usually. There are times when I barely write because my mind seems blank. So, whenever I am motivated, I try to write as much as I can.’’

’’What motivates you so much all of a sudden?" Maxim asked, barely pleased with one kiss as he stole another kiss from her lips and wrapped his arms around her waist.

’’The sight of my handsome boyfriend, loitering around in our home,’’ she had officially moved in to Maxim’s place three months ago and recently he had been busier than ever, but the past few days she had been getting to see more of him and have more of him as he took some time off from his work.

’’Fiancé, you mean,’’ Maxim immediately corrected as he held her hand and intertwined their fingers, turning them to show her the rings sitting on their fingers, ’’If the diamond is too small for you to see and remember my position in your life, I can get you a bigger one.’’

This petty guy. Diana chuckled, ’’Fine fine, I remember. My fiancé,’’ she kissed his chin softly.

It still felt so unreal how they got engaged two days ago.

Ever since they came back, there has never been a day without Maxim uttering things like ’Marry me, be my wife, this and that’ but Diana never really took his seriously until two days ago where they were sitting and watching a movie and she was in her pyjama, having wine, almost on the verge of tears as the protagonist was dying when Maxim suddenly got down on his knee and said that he wanted a upgrade to his status in her life.

She was as confused and shocked as she could get.

’I feel so greedy, Ana. Being your boyfriend is a blessing to me yet I want you all to myself. I want a upgrade to my status. I want to marry you, to be your husband, to refer to you as my wife when someone talks about you and I want to girlfriend you up for my whole life. Will you do me the honors? Will you marry me?’ were his exact words and it was not even bizarre how she remembered it word by word.

It was Maxim Warner and by this time, she had come in terms with the fact that she remembered every little thing that he uttered just like he did.

"What are you doing here?" Diana looked up at him, ’’I thought you were cooking for everyone?"

A/N: Through all it’s ups and downs, this book is approaching it’s end and while I feel nostalgic, I feel happy as well, realizing how these two people started and how they have come so far, along with all your support.

I want to inform you all that this book will have some loose ends, such as the backstories of their parents and everything but that will be for the later book in the series. Because this book was all about Maxim and Diana so it mostly revolved around them.

Thank you for all your love and support so far <3
