Chapter 287: I am Alice Chen
Chapter 287: I am Alice Chen
Diana glanced at her indifferently, ’’Then tell me, how did you find me?"
Alice crossed her arms in front of her chest. A frown marred her beautiful face, displeasure over Diana’s attitude was fairly visible.
’’Your grandmother had already seen you in front of the police station during your early days there. And she had recognized you. But she did not remember to tell me about it until recently. Then you retrieved your documents from the medical school, it did not take me much effort.’’
Diana nodded, ’’What do you want me to do?"
’’I know everything about you. The people around you. And things that you have been up to during these months.’’
Diana’s face paled.
’’You had the audacity to get yourself a small job in some hospital? You stayed in a filthy studio room and you even sold your accessories to make a living. Was it worth it?"
Diana let out a breath that she did not know she had been holding. The thought of her mother knowing about her relationship with Maxim put her on the edge.
She did not know what the consequences would be if her mother knew about Maxim. Or Hazel. They were the last people that she wanted to implicate in the chaos of her family.
Both Hazel and Maxim had already gone through their worsts in life. And the least she wanted was for her mother to drag them into the webs of socialite circles for her vendetta.
Diana glanced at her mother indifferently before she turned to look at the bodyguard who had brought her there, ’’My phone,’’ she reached out her hand towards him.
’’Young Miss, I have yet to get it fixed...’’
’’Give it to me. I don’t need you to do it,’’ Diana narrowed her eyes, ’’For someone who dared to lie to me with such precise acting, you are not trustworthy.’’
One of the servants standing behind Alice stepped forward, ’’Young Miss, Madam really...’’
Alice glanced at the maid, her gaze solemn.
The maid stopped talking immediately.
’’Go to your room and get changed,’’ Alice turned to look at Diana, ’’The further you stay from a phone for now, the better it is. Before I decide the way to go about your future, stay in the mansion, and don’t take a step out.’’
’’You want to decide my future for me?"
’’I want to ensure a happy life for you. In every possible way,’’ Alice said like there was nothing wrong with her statement, ’’Go to your room. Now.’’
Diana inhaled a deep breath as she looked at her mother.
Months of not seeing each other yet there was not the slightest change in the person standing in front of her. There was not the slightest remorse on her face.
Diana turned around and went upstairs, walking past the servants who stepped forward to bow to her.
Alice looked at her retreating back before she approached the staircase.
Her footsteps halted for a moment as she looked at her bodyguard from above her shoulder, ’’Arrange a new phone from her. Destroy this phone.’’
’’Yes, Madam.’’
Alice made her way back towards her room, followed by the maids. A trail of blood was barely noticeable from the side of her left thigh.
’’Madam, you are bleeding again,’’ One of the maids stepped forward towards her, ’’You have just been discharged from the hospital and the doctor has asked you not to put much strain on your leg...’’
Alice poured herself a glass of whiskey before she sat on the bed, swaying the glass in her hand, ’’You have more to say,’’ she placed a finger on her black dress before she slid it up, revealing a deep cut that stretched from the side of her knee all the way to her thigh. Some of the stitches had reopened, making the wound bleed.
The maid hesitated for a moment before she opened her mouth again, ’’Madam, young Miss misunderstood you. Why did you not let us tell her about this?"
Both the maids could not understand why the woman had to be the bad person in front of her daughter when this misunderstanding could have been cleared.
The Chen Mansion had an extensive garden that was remodeled every season with new styles.
During the renovation this year, Alice was there to check the progress but she ended up injuring herself with a huge wooden plank.
And she was taken to the hospital where she stayed for a night. Other than an indifferent visit from her husband, she got nothing else.
The moment Alice was informed that Diana was coming back, she got herself discharged and came back to the mansion and assigned the maids to clean the house and Diana’s room properly.
Since they were Alice’s personal maids, they had witnessed all of this with their own eyes. And when they saw how coldly Diana treated Alice, they could not help but pity Alice.
They had been serving Alice for so long and to some extent they were aware of the bitter relationship between their elder young miss and Madam.
But they had never seen their little miss going against her mother so blatantly before other than that fateful day when she ran from the mansion.
’’Madam, you should have let us speak to Young Miss. She would have understood...’’
’’What could she have done? Heal me?" Alice raised a brow, ’’Since she cannot do anything about my wound, why bother showing it to her? Futile.’’
’’But madam...’’
’’Shh...’’ Alice pressed a finger on her lips as she looked at the maid, her other hand tilting the glass in her hand, pouring the whiskey on her bleeding wound, ’’I am Alice Chen. I don’t flaunt my weakness.’’
The maids shivered as they stepped back, their eyes closing in instinct to avoid watching the painful sight.
