Maxim was about to follow her when she suddenly stopped in her tracks and turned to look at him, ’’Since you want me to have some privacy as I read, then take the other table, read some book, or just sit idly,’’ she waved her book at him and took a seat.

Maxim sulked but Diana did not pay attention to him.

This place was the replica of the shop except that since this was the underground space, it was quieter and more peaceful. The space was dimly lit.

As for Maxim who was treated like air, he never once looked at the book in his hand. With his elbow propped on the table and head being supported by his fist, his gaze remained fixated on Diana.

He pursed his lips and looked around, feeling slightly jealous of the books that held her attention longer than he did.

In the end, he pushed himself to his feet and left his book on the table. He grabbed a chair with one hand before making his way towards her.

Diana was completely focused on the book in her hand until Maxim sat beside her, pushing the other chairs away and inevitably breaking the silence in the space.

His chair was positioned slightly behind hers.

Diana’s eyes widened and she wanted to close the book on instinct but he pressed a palm on the page, ’’Read. I won’t disturb you.’’

She gulped. It was not that she was afraid of being disturbed by him. She had just said that to irritate him.

But right now, with him sitting behind her, she did not how to proceed with what she was reading. With his chin positioned still comfortably positioned on her neck, Maxim started reading the contents on the page. Aloud.

Diana’s legs pressed together. The fingers holding the book trembled slightly, almost losing the grip.

His hair was grazing her cheek making her breath fasten. And every time he spoke, his warm breath tickled her skin.

And then he did not seem to have any intention to stop.

Diana closed the book and slammed it on his chest, her breathing frantic as her face flushed red, ’’I will just gift this book to you, you pervert!" her voice somehow came out hoarse and frustrated, not as angry as she had wanted to sound.

She faced forward, not once turning to look at him.

Maxim grabbed the book that was slammed at him. Flipping through the pages randomly, he placed the paperback on the table and looked at the woman who was avoiding his gaze.
