’’One night,’’ he said after some thought.

Daisy glanced towards his crotch, ’’Are you gay?" she frowned when she remembered seeing him with various women while she was still working for him. He was pretty much a womanizer, ’’Bisexual?" She added after some thought.

Ryle looked at the guy speechlessly for a long time as his face turned red in the slightest, ’’You... I am perfectly straight,’’ After giving it a thought, he added, ’’Even if I am gay or bisexual, I won’t be interested in someone like you.’’

’’Good,’’ Daisy nodded, ’’Now get lost.’’

Ryle felt like he might faint. The only way to talk to this guy was to be willingly humiliated by him? Was there no other choice?

’’Why is it so hard to talk to you?" he groaned in frustration. Even Maxim was not this much of a stone.

Daisy glanced at him again, ’’I am just not interested in talking to you,’’ her face screamed ’It is as simple as that’.

Ryle nearly puked blood, ’’Why?’’ What did he do?

People made appointments to talk to him. Shouldn’t this guy be honored that he was willingly trying to talk to him?

’’You are...’’ Daisy pushed herself to her feet as she searched through her vocabulary for the right word, ’’Pushy, annoying, and way too talkative for my liking,’’ she started walking away, her gaze stopped at the burning Ferarri on the road which surely belonged to him.

Once Ryle recovered from the fresh bout of an insult thrown at his face, he followed her, ’’I am not talkative usually. You are lucky that I talk to you.’’

Ryle’s ears nearly drooped until he heard a soft ’’Why’’ from the front.

He dashed forward quickly, ’’I am not sure.’’

Daisy stopped walking as she narrowed her eyes at him, ’’Stop pestering me.’’

’’You just questioned me which I answered. When did I pester you?" Ryle felt slightly indignant.

Daisy stopped walking as she turned to look at him, ’’Since you already answered, scram,’’ she turned around to walk away.

His jaw ticked. Instead of following her this time, he spoke up, "I have an offer for you.’’

Daisy halted in her tracks, ’’And it is...?" she looked at him.

Ryle stalked towards her, ’’As you must have figured out from the scene, your previous position is quite empty right now.’’

Daisy nodded, ’’So?"

’’Join the organization again.’’

’’Why would I?" she tilted her head to meet his gaze.

’’Why wouldn’t you?" Ryle questioned.

And that made her pause.

Reasons for not taking that job would be that she never took the same job twice after she left.

And Beijing might be her only lead to Diana and her daughter so she was not willing to leave this place.

As she thought about that, she sighed softly, ’’No thanks. I am not interested in your offer,’’ she turned around and walked away, leaving a certain someone behind with a darkening face.

’’Alright, this is the place,’’ Diana glanced at the beautiful landscape from the balcony before she strode towards the living room while twirling Angel in her arms.

Ivy’s face seemed to be in a twist as she coughed, ’’This is just the fifth place.’’

Maxim, who was sitting on a barstool covered the edge of the counter when Diana did another twirl.

’’So what? See, Angel smiled at this place,’’ Diana smothered Angel’s face with kisses till the girl whined and buried her small face in her neck.

’’But Angel was sleeping in the previous four places,’’ Ivy countered.

’’My baby woke up in this one so that should be our lucky charm signal,’’ Diana squeezed the girl in her arms before looking at Ivy, ’’You are being unreasonable.’’

Ivy, the chatterbox, felt quite speechless at the moment. You sure I am unreasonable? Who decides on a new place like this?

So their house hunting was coming to an end just like that. It was awfully fast, hassle-free, and the most effortless house hunting she had ever seen.

But Diana was not as worried as Ivy. All the places they checked out were handpicked by Maxim just like he wanted and all of them were beautiful as well.

She was confused the more she looked on so Angel’s smile was a timely help for her to finalize the house.

Diana thought about something and turned to look at Maxim.

As soon as Diana moved, Angel looked around as well.

When the little girl’s gaze landed on Maxim, she stretched her tiny hands towards the man.

Maxim did not make an effort to hold her as he was focused on the little girl’s ’Aunt’.

Angel’s chin wobbled and her eyes teared up as she struggled in Diana’s arms.

Diana’s attention shifted from Maxim as she glanced at Angel helplessly, ’’What happened, Darling?"

Before Diana could start fussing around about Angel, Maxim took the girl from her arms.

And she instantly turned obedient as her head fell on his shoulder.

Diana did not know if she was imagining it but Angel seemed to have shot her a smug look too.

She was speechless. This little traitor....!

’’Done staring?" Maxim asked while Ivy sat on a distant barstool and started playing a game on her phone.

Diana pouted slightly, ’’I was not...’’ his pointed glare cut her off, ’’I wanted to talk to you about something.’’

’’I am listening.’’

Diana lowered her head, not meeting his gaze, ’’I have... kind of a request for you.’’

’’Listening.’’

She peeked at him through her lashes, ’’Promise me that you will agree?"

Maxim averted his gaze as he glanced at the wall while stroking Angel’s back, ’’What is it about?"

Diana leaned closer to him, looking at him with wide eyes as she whispered, ’’So you promise?"

He tilted his face to look at her but because she had leaned forward, their faces were barely inches away from each other’s, ’’If you keep acting cute, I might not,’’ Maxim whispered, his gaze dropping to her lips which were wet because of her constant nervous lickings.

And Diana seemed to be suddenly aware of their proximity when she felt his warm breath fanning her face. She stepped back from him and straightened her body, ’’Can you give Ivy to me?"

Maxim blinked.

Diana gulped, ’’I know I am being really unreasonable and I haven’t even asked her about this but since you both are here together, I thought I should bring this up,’’ she looked back at Ivy whose ears perked up at the mention of her name.
