Chapter 35: President Yin’s model wife
The "garage" could qualify for a museum. If museums showcased expensive and rare cars.
A custom Wraith with diamond inner roof. Lin wei supposed it worked the same way her old beat up scooter does.
They both move_her scooter reluctantly_and this one she didn’t know.
The twins stared at her expectantly.
"So uh..what do we do now?" She asked them.
Garry’s expression was that of disbelief.
"What do you mean? We’re running late already."
Lin wei waved frantically, "look I know okay? I’m just not sure if these cars are for driving."
"What else would they be for?" Harry chimed in.
"Fine. Get in," she ordered them.
She send a quick prayer to whoever was up there. Her driving skills were a bit rusty and she wasn’t even sure her wobbly feet deserved to step inside something so gorgeous.
It was Garry’s groan that prompted her. She squared her shoulder determinedly and slid into the car.
Her ass encountered the softest leather and her mouth formed a O.
"Give me the address of your school. I’ll punch it in."
"It’s already there." Garry’s tone and eye roll said "don’t be a dummy."
The drive to their school was chaotic with Lin wei trying to calm the twins down.
"I don’t think I have my assignment," Harry mused out loud.
Garry snorted and Lin wei panicked. What was she to do now?
"I think it’ll be better if we turn back around," Harry held up a piece of...sock and grimaced apologetically, "my socks are mismatched."
Lin wei smacked her forehead.
"Nobody’s gonna know. It’s fine,"
Harry’s eyes was suspiciously shinny. Oh no, he wasn’t about to cry now was he?
A sniffle here, and another hiccup there.
"I’ll get you a new matching socks I promise," the words had no effect because Harry’s face crumpled further.
"You should be more worried about your assignment." Garry supplied unhelpfully.
"Don’t be a dummy. Matching socks don’t matter_"
"They actually do." Lin wei hurriedly intercepted.
"Youre the stupid one with your big fat head_"
She took a deep breath. Reminding herself that the continuation of her mother’s chemotherapy treatment depends on making these two kids happy.
"Oh shut up!" She yelled and instantly regretted her decision. What was she thinking?
They lapse into a shocked silence, each gazing at Lin wei like she had two heads.
"I’m so sorry," she whispered, horrified at her own out burst.
The twins did not reply, probably because Lin wei was already outside their school gate.
Guilt and curiousity aren’t a good combination because Curiousity always wins out. Leaving Lin wei in a forgetful trance and only focusing on whatever the hell has the misfortune to catch her fancy.
And this time, it was the sheer size of the school building. With it’s huge white stone wall, it had a curved piazza right before the gate. It’s shinning golden emblem and the three stone statues that graced the well mowed lawn.
The cobbled stone did a lot to give this place an ethereal vibe that was associated with the Victorian era.
It could pass for one of the building in Architectural digest.
She was still staring with her mouth agape, at the range of expensive cars that lined up the school gate to drop of their students.
From elementary students to high school students.
Children of business tycoon and corporate heirs attended the most prestigious school which was this.
In her awe-inspiring trance, it took a while to notice the videographers and camera men approaching the black sleek cars she knew not of the name.
"That is president Yin’s new model wife! I heard he’s fifty years her senior." Someone_dressed in a gorgeous limited edition of Chanel summer collection _was saying.
"A gold digger!"
"No, she was forced into the marriage I hear." Another giggled.
"I think she was used as a collateral." Someone chimed in.
Lin wei noticed how these women looked like they were dressed for some runaway with their flowy dress and designer bags. Each one sporting a gaudy accessories that costs more than Lin wei could scrape together in a decade.
What was this place? A place where people come to show off their influence, yet assert their dominance?
It...it couldn’t be that this place was hierarchical?
"She’s here." Garry said grudgingly.
Finally, her guilt made an appearance at that sulky voice. Garry and Harry were staring at the approaching lady, whom Lin wei was sure she’d seen in a magazine or three.
"Do you know her?" She asked, her eyes glued to the lithe approaching figure.
"She’s in the same tier as us. Always trying to get Daddy or uncle Lu talk to her. She’s just..." Harry struggled to find the right words.
But by then, the lady was already in front of them.
The place was agog with murmurs as everyone waited to see how the tea was going to spill.
The only thing Lin wei was sure of spilling was her own drool.
Whatever she thinks of this lady’s beauty at that distance (absolutely gorgeous) it was so unqualitative.
Her heart shaped face was framed with two wisps of hair, her perfectly bridged nose and rosebud lips painted a light shade of pink.
She had a diamond stud earrings on and that was it.
No gaudy jeweleries and yet her radiance was almost blinding.
Lin wei wanted to weep. In her own cobbled together 15$ sham dress and layers of makeup on her face, she looked and felt, like a dirty beggar compared to her.
Tension was thick in the air as everyone stood rooted to the spot, each one eager to hear them talk.
Talk the talk that was going to make headlines of the news if the rapidly flashing lights of the camera was any indication.
The lady opened her mouth, Lin wei mentally prepared herself to return her greeting, but was shocked.
"Harry and Garry Wang! It’s the Wang twins. Oh my gosh. Just look at you adorable babies," she drew them in for a hug.
Murmurs rose to a crescendo.
"Did she say Harry and Garry Wang? Like Ezekiel Wang’s son?!" She screeched.
"It’s them. The Wang twins." From one mouth to another.
Fierce whispers and quick theories were being formed.
"Too nice." Harry whispered, finally having found the word he needed to describe her.
