Chapter 22 - 022: Sir, please get on the car

Chapter 22: 022: Sir, please get on the car

"You just need to be clear about it yourself," said Jin Jixiang. "I also want to believe that a child brought up by the old chairman has a sense of propriety in their actions."

With that, Jin Jixiang got into the car, accompanied by his secretary.

Hearing this, Ning Guiwan curved her red lips into a faint smile.

An outsider was willing to trust her, yet her own biological father did not.

Ning Honghua called just as she was driving out of the Tianchi Group’s underground parking garage.

Seeing the caller ID, she already guessed what he was going to say.

Sure enough, as soon as the call connected, Ning Honghua didn’t beat around the bush. "Go to the hospital and apologize to Qinghan."

Ning Guiwan laughed, her smile exceptionally bright. "Okay."

However, the beautiful eyes reflected in the rearview mirror were as cold as frost.

An hour later, Ning Guiwan appeared at the door of Ning Qinghan’s hospital room. She wore a red dress with a high slit, revealing her snow-white, straight legs as she moved. The extreme contrast of red and white was very eye-catching.

Quan Xiangru was feeding Ning Qinghan soup. When he heard footsteps and looked up, his breath hitched for a moment.

Ning Qinghan’s eyes were red and swollen; she had obviously been crying heavily. Upon seeing Ning Guiwan, her expression changed instantly, especially at the sight of Ning Guiwan’s alluring, swaying figure. Her gaze was practically murderous.

"What are you doing here?"

Though she spoke to Ning Guiwan, her eyes darted to Quan Xiangru.

Quan Xiangru was also looking at Ning Guiwan, a different kind of light in his eyes.

This girl had changed so much. She used to be warm and cheerful, yet also pure and innocent. Now, from head to toe, even every strand of her hair seemed seductively flirtatious.

Suddenly, his hand felt empty.

When Quan Xiangru came to his senses, he realized Ning Qinghan had thrown the bowl he was holding.

It flew straight towards Ning Guiwan.

"You murderer! I don’t want to see you! Get out!" Ning Qinghan roared furiously.

Ning Guiwan must have dressed this way on purpose to seduce Quan Xiangru!

When the bowl of soup flew towards her, Ning Guiwan didn’t dodge. It struck her left shoulder, sending a sharp pain through her. She frowned slightly and looked down at her dress, now stained with a large patch of soup.

"Xiaowan!" Without a second thought, Quan Xiangru stood up and hurried towards Ning Guiwan, his usually gentle tone now laced with obvious concern. "Are you okay?"

Ning Guiwan looked up, a flicker in her eyes. After a moment of silence, she slowly raised her hand. Her slender fingers, seemingly boneless, slid over Quan Xiangru’s collar. Her voice was soft. "Brother Xiangru... in what capacity are you concerned about me?"

Quan Xiangru stared at her enchanting eyes and brows. He opened his mouth to speak, but his throat felt constricted. In the end, he could only murmur her name.

"Xiaowan..."

"Brother Xiangru!" Ning Qinghan’s eyes were bloodshot with fury.

Ning Guiwan, as if startled from a dream, abruptly withdrew her hand. A slow smile spread across her face. "Brother Xiangru, could you go buy me a new dress? Look at the one I’m wearing..."

She looked down at her clothes, an innocent look on her face. "I can’t wear it anymore."

Quan Xiangru glanced at Ning Qinghan, clearly uneasy about leaving these two troublesome women alone in the same room.

Ning Guiwan smiled reassuringly. "Don’t worry, I won’t do anything to your fiancée. Besides, I happen to have a few things I’d like to say to her in private."

"I have nothing to say to you!"

Ning Guiwan smiled. "Then, would you prefer I go shopping for clothes with Brother Xiangru?"

Ning Qinghan’s face turned ashen.

"What exactly do you want?" As the hospital room door clicked shut and Quan Xiangru’s footsteps faded into the distance, Ning Qinghan could no longer maintain her composure. "Ning Guiwan, there are so many men in this world! Why must you cling to *my* man?"

"I should be the one asking you that." Ning Guiwan slowly walked to the bedside, towering over Ning Qinghan. A smile played on her lips, but her eyes were cold. "Four years ago, you framed me for a miscarriage. Now you’re pulling the same trick. What exactly are you trying to achieve?"

"You and Ning Rongyue wanted to become part of the Ning family, and you succeeded despite my disapproval. You coveted my boyfriend, climbed into his bed behind my back, got pregnant with his child, and became his fiancée. What more could you possibly want?"

"You’re spouting nonsense!" Ning Qinghan grew agitated and tried to sit up abruptly, but the movement pulled at her lower abdomen, causing a sharp pain. Sweat beaded on her forehead, and her lips instantly turned deathly pale. Clutching her stomach, she took a moment to recover before looking up to glare hatefully at Ning Guiwan.

"Still trying to deny it! Someone saw you with their own eyes back then! You snuck into my room and swapped my medication with abortion pills!" Ning Qinghan clenched her fists, the veins in her neck bulging.

Ning Guiwan didn’t wait for Quan Xiangru to return. Still wearing the red dress, now splotched with soup stains, she left Ning Qinghan’s hospital room, Ning Qinghan’s final words echoing in her ears.

"So what if I plotted against you yesterday? I just hate you! I wanted Dad to kick you out so I’d never have to see you again! But I never thought of using a child to frame you—I didn’t even know I was pregnant!"

"But that child you caused to die four years ago... Ning Guiwan, just you wait! I will definitely avenge that child!"

A bitter laugh escaped Ning Guiwan. She stood at the entrance of the inpatient building, looking up slightly at the dark, oppressive clouds stacked layer upon layer overhead.

She had some understanding of Ning Qinghan’s character. Malicious, yes, but not deeply scheming; her thoughts were always transparent, revealed in her expressions and words. The hatred in Ning Qinghan’s eyes over the death of her child didn’t seem feigned. It seemed things... weren’t as she had originally guessed. How interesting.

As Ning Guiwan walked towards the parking lot, mulling things over, a group of reporters suddenly sprang from nowhere and surrounded her.

"Third Miss Ning, we heard that you pushed Second Miss Ning, causing her miscarriage, because you covet her fiancé. Is that true?"

"If so, then was her fiancé also the reason you caused her miscarriage four years ago?"

"Someone claims to have seen you seducing Second Miss Ning’s fiancé at a party. Can you tell us how far your private relationship has progressed?"

A barrage of tricky questions assaulted her. Ning Guiwan stood her ground. After the initial surprise, she quickly regained her composure, betraying almost no sign of panic.

She was no longer the naive young girl from four years ago who would have been flustered by a media circus.

But reporters were notoriously persistent, especially entertainment reporters. Ning Guiwan’s brow slowly furrowed as annoyance began to set in.

Just as she was trying to figure out how to make a quick escape, a black car screeched to a halt beside her.

Several men in black emerged from the car. They forcibly pushed their way through the crowd and extricated Ning Guiwan from the reporters’ encirclement.

Ning Guiwan looked at these familiar-looking men. One of them said to her, "The gentleman is waiting for you in the car."

Not far away, a Cullinan was parked.

Ning Guiwan glanced at it, then looked away and headed towards her own car.

The man who had spoken blocked her path. He wore sunglasses, and the part of his face visible below the bridge of his nose was devoid of emotion, making him appear very stern. "The gentleman requests that you get in the car."

From the look of him, she had no choice but to get into this ’gentleman’s’ car.

Ning Guiwan looked at him for a long moment, then turned and walked towards the Cullinan.

The bodyguard followed close behind, opening the car door for her as they reached it.

Inside the car, Quan Yu sat by the window, legs crossed. The window was half-open, and the incoming breeze gently rustled his neatly styled hair. Beneath a full forehead, his brow bone was prominent. His deep brown eyes, cool and calm, met hers.

However, when his gaze fell upon the stains on Ning Guiwan’s dress and the conspicuous bruise on the pale skin of her left shoulder, his eyes darkened.

Then, as his eyes drifted to the expanse of her pale thigh, revealed by the high slit of her dress due to her posture, his gaze darkened further.
