Chapter 90: 90. Who do they take after?

After getting home, we had to answer a ton of questions from the twins. They wanted to know where we’d been, what we’d been doing, what we ate, if we bought anything for them?

Telling them where we’d been was not a problem, telling them what we ate, and what we bought for them was not the problem at all. The problem came with the question of what we were doing.

I think Mary somehow already figured out the answer to that question because she just stood in one corner, smiling and raising her brows teasingly at me.

Well, we skipped the major details of what we were doing at that beach house because every part of our stay there contained PG contents... In fact it was more than PG, it was full blown R-21.

After their curiosity was soothed, they went on to tell us every little thing they did while we were away, from what they did to how they did it, even to how they were punished by Mary when they did something wrong. They told us every single detail.

The roof of the house almost came off when they all finally noticed our rings. Since Duke and I were going to spend the rest of the day at home, we allowed Mary to clock out earlier than usual.

I made dinner that evening much to Duke’s happiness. But Alan, who stopped by while we were in the middle of dinner, seemed more happy to have walked in at the right time.

He offered to add himself to the dinner table and we all agreed.

The twins’ mouths kept on running even at the dinner table. They had so much to tell especially since Alan was present now. They told him everything that happened while he was at work, even repeating to him how Mary had punished them for going back to take more cookies even though she already gave them five each.

And what was this almighty punishment that they were telling the whole world about? She made them kneel down with their eyes closed and their hands stretched out in front of them, for what according to Gio wasn’t even more than three minutes.

We gladly listened to them through dinner, after dinner, till Alan left and up till the point that they both fell asleep on our bodies on the couch.

"I wonder who they take after to talk this much." I chuckle while stroking the dark curly hair of Shelly whose head is on my thigh.

"I wonder too. I think it’s Alan." Duke says and I laugh. "No seriously, he might seem like he doesn’t talk that much but he does. He really does."

"I’d say it’s Rey." I say.

"Rey? He doesn’t talk too much though." Duke says, I mean are we talking about the same person? Rey? His twin? Doesn’t talk?

"You have no idea what you’re talking about. He’s talkative." I counter.

"No, he really isn’t. You should see Rey around people he doesn’t know, he’s worse than Alan. The Rey you met was the homey Rey. I guess you will be right in the sense that he is quite talkative when he is at home and around us. But trust me, the moment Rey steps out of our family circle, or someone he doesn’t know joins the family circle, he becomes an arrogant and rude mute!"

"I don’t believe you." I say. I mean he was meeting me for the first time back then, but he was totally friendly with me.

"You say if someone joins the family circle Hee becomes mute, but he was totally sweet with me."

"That’s because I’d told him everything about you already. And not just me, I’m sure mom and dad would have had a lot of information about his twin brother’s wife. And also, do not trust the toxic air between him and Alan, those two are actually closer than you will think. They call or text each other every single day."

"Ah, I see."

"Yeah, so technically he already considered you family before he even saw you. Coupled with the fact that I already warned him not to be rude to you, the only thing is he took my words of being friendly to you extremely and he was being overly friendly."

I can’t hold back the laughter, so I place a palm over my mouth instead so as not to wake the twins sleeping. "You’re such a jealous man." I say.

"Hmph, says the woman who had jealousy written all over her face earlier this afternoon."

Ah, why did he have to remind me of that. I had completely forgotten about it. But how dare she, Alicia really needs to be taught a lesson to stay away from other people’s things.

"See, see, right now, you are doing it again." He points at my face and I’m staring at him. Wondering why he’s pointing, "You’re looking irritated, annoyed, angered, utterly pissed and disgusted, like you stepped on shit. You look like you want to pound someone to pieces."

I try to straighten my face and when it straightens I realize I truly had an irritated look on my face. I didn’t even realize when my expression had morphed into that.

"I do like the fact that you’re jealous." He says with a soft laugh and I just eye him.

"Why do you have to look so desirable?" I mumble to myself.

"Well, I don’t think it’s a matter of what I look like. I think that cousin of yours would have wanted to steal me from you even though I looked like a fish."

"Well, she did steal my pet fish once, so you are right." Indeed, Alicia is just like that. As long as something belongs to me, she wants it, no matter what it is, however, "It doesn’t help that you are so good looking though, you’re too perfect. Financially and physically. She gets even more desperate when I have something that is actually worth something. The more valuable it is, the more she wants it."

"I see. No wonder she has been putting in so much effort to get my attention. I later found out that not only did she pay someone to tamper with my plane, she also bribed one of the airport personnel so they could give her a seat right next to me."

"Really? That is low, even for Alicia."

"That’s what you think. For people like her, there is nothing like stopping too low. They would do anything to get what they want."

"I guess you’re right. The fact that she could send a man into my life, have him pretend to be in love with me, have him propose to me and then make him do unimaginable things to me proves that she is beyond insane."

"Exactly and when dealing with a mad person, sometimes all that is needed is someone with a higher grade of madness."

"Indeed. That’s why I really can’t wait for that birthday party. Because by then if everything goes as planned, I’d have successfully stolen five money making projects, leaving the entire gold food in a bit of an unpleasant place because it would mean they have no plans for the year."

"True. And also, the launching of our new chocolate bar should be happening on that very day if I’m not mistaken. They will see a product that looks just like their own but at the same time is completely different and improved, thanks to your brilliant ideas of course."

"Oh it was nothing!" I smirk and giggle wickedly at the same time. "If they were going to kick me out, they should have kicked me out with my products. It’s annoying that the products I developed are the ones selling the most and yet I’m not given any credit. They just kicked me out like some kind of street cat!"

"Well, it is payback time."

"Indeed. It will be my big birthday present to my aunt who loves me so much."

"Oh I do hope she will enjoy her party."

"So do I, because after that day, her days of peace and pleasure are over. I will slowly eat at Gold group until I gobble the whole thing up."
