{Champagne’s POV}

According to Duke, they did not tell Irene that her brother had been kidnapped. They just explained to her that he went somewhere with someone. They didn’t want to outright tell her that her brother had been kidnapped just some weeks after her mother was just kidnapped. It’d be too much for her.

It was safer to tell her the truth after they found Sherlock and he was back home by her side. That way she wouldn’t feel the impact of the news too much.

Getting home, it’s already past four, Giovanni and Mary were trying their best to act normal while Renny was sitting on the ground coloring in her book.

At the sight of us, Giovanni lets out some words of thanks in his mother tongue and Mary is praising God on her knees with tears in her eyes. She must have been going insane with worry.

And Irene is just... "Daddy, mummy, you’re back with Shelly!" She’s saying as she rises from her spot on the floor and walks towards her brother who already woke up as the car stopped.

"Where did you go? Daddy and Mary told you not to go anywhere with stwangers." She’s scolding her brother while Mary is still on her knees thanking God.

"I didn’t want to go. They took me yike they took mummy." He explains and Irene’s eyes and mouth widen.

"Oh no." She says with her hands over her mouth like a drama queen. "Did they spank you?"

"No. But they put something on my face when I tried to scream and when I woke up, I was with Martin and Brian."

"Who is Martin and Bwian?"

"No, no, not Bwian," He corrects his sister. "say Brian."

"Bwian."

"Yes, Martin and Brian."

"Who are they?"

"They are the two people who kidnapped me."

"Oh, Mr Grand, I am so sorry. I should never have left him outside of the ladies room. I am so sorry Champagne, I can’t even ask for your forgiveness because I know how you must feel." Mary is saying with tears in her eyes.

I can see how sorry she is.

However, it’s not Mary’s fault. If anyone is at fault majorly here it’s me for dragging Duke and the twins into my family’s mess.

"Please Mary stop this, the kids will see you." I say and try to lift her from her knees but being as big as she is, I don’t think I can move her if she doesn’t want to be moved.

"No, I lost a child. In all my years as a nanny I have never lost a child, I am so ashamed of myself. Only God knows what could have happened if you didn’t find him in time. I don’t even want to think about it. I’m scared to even imagine it. Oh, Champagne, I am so sorry. So sorry Mr Grand, please I am sorry."

Silently, Duke is staring at her and I as his wife can’t even tell what is running in and out of his head right now. I wonder what he’s thinking just staring at her like that.

"Mary, just don’t quit after this." He suddenly says. "That will be the most irresponsible thing you can do."

"Sir—"

"Get up now, before they see you." He says and stretches a hand to her, "You know they can ask lots of questions. You’ll have to explain why you’re on your knees to them if they see you."

The tears in Mary’s eyes seem to flow even more as she finally takes Duke’s outstretched hand and with the help of Giovanni, she is pulled to her feet.

And she instantly hugs me, "I’m sorry Champagne. I’m really sorry. I’m so sorry." She says.

All this apology can be given and accepted because we found him, right? If we didn’t find Sherlock, it would have been an entirely different story. Thank God we found him.

"Were they big?" Renny continues to question her brother and we turn our attention back to them.

"Yes, not as big as daddy." Shelly replies and both their little heads turn to our direction, looking at Duke as if trying to gauge the height of the kidnappers in their minds. "But they were taller than mummy though." He shrugs and we laugh and Mary walks up to him and for some reason I think he will back away from her but he doesn’t, in fact he falls into her open arms.

"Oh my blessed boy, the old fat lady is sorry. I should have kept my eyes on you. Are you okay?" She’s asking him and he’s staring at her with his head tilted to the side.

"Mary, why are you cwying?" He asks and takes his hand to her face to wipe her tears.

"Oh am I? Oh, don’t mind me. I’m just so happy to see you."

"I’m happy to see you too, but I’m not cwying." He wipes her tears again. "Big girls don’t cwy. So don’t cwy." He reminds her and wipes her tears for the last time as she nods.

"I won’t cry. Instead, I will make you all your favorite foods!" She declares.

"YAY!!"

"What about me?!" Renny is asking.

"Of course I’ll make your favorite foods too." She assures her and Renny nods happily.

"Oh, bless you my boy. I’m so happy you’re okay." She kisses the side of his face before placing him back on the ground and disappearing into the kitchen.

"I will join Mary in the kitchen." Gio says and rushes off with his eyes glimmering.

Duke and I just sink into a couch next to each other, watching Renny and Shelly discuss. I’m thankful he is fine. I really am.

Without delay, Shelly is telling his sister more details about today.

"And they gave me a puzzle to put togwether."

"What kind of puzzle?"

"I don’t know." Sherlock shrugs. "It was a big board, oh, Brian told me I would get a big elephant if I was able to put them togwether, but daddy came with the cops before I was able to put them all togwether so I don’t know if I would have gotten a big elephant." He sounds a little disappointed that his daddy came before he could put the pieces together.

"Did they play with the puzzle ayong with you?" I don’t know who is more inquisitive, Renny or her brother.

"No, they were playing with cards." Shelly explains.

Then Renny asks "Did you play with the cards too?"

"No. Just the puzzle." Shelly says and sits himself down on the floor and Renny follows suit.

"Oh, what happened after?" She asks.

"Well, I was asking them some questions while they were playing their cards and Martin hit his hand on the table and all the puzzle pieces fell out onto the table," He demonstrates how Martin hit the table with his hands.

"Why did he do that?" Renny asks with confusion written all over her face.

"I don’t know." Sherlock shrugs again. "Maybe Brian won the card game and he was angry."

"But daddy says banging on the table is bad. Did that Martin’s daddy not tell him that?" Duke laughs at that question and pulls me closer to his body. Silently, I pack my legs up on the chair and snuggle closer to him, resting my head on his chest, finally able to calm myself down.

"I don’t know, maybe he forgot." Shelly says.

"Did you not wemind him?" She asks again and Duke’s chest rumbles with laughter.

"No."

"Next time you wemind him so he will not do it again."

"Okay."

"So what happen again?"

"After the puzzle pieces flew out of the board, I had to put everything back on the board."

"Was it hard?"

"Not really."

"If I was there, I would have helped you, sowwy you got kidnapped alone."

"It’s okay. Next time I will tell them to wait and take the both of us, so we can put the puzzle pieces togwether."

"No. Uh-uhn, there will be no next time. No one is getting kidnapped again." Duke quickly rebukes Shelly’s words.

"Are you sure?" Renny is asking.

"Yes baby, we will make sure nobody gets kidnapped again." I say and they turn to each other again.

"Okay. So what happened after?" Renny continues her questioning.

"Martin told me to shut up or else he would stuff my mouth with a dirty rag."

"Huh!!" Renny gasps in shock then her expression changes to disgust.

"A dirty wag? Ewww. That is bad." She says.

"They are bad people." Shelly shrugs.

"Did they do it? Did they stuff a dirty wag in your mouth?" She’s asking with curiosity and disgust at the same time.

"No, daddy came into the room with a lot of officers and then mummy came and she beat up Martin and Brian with her bags. Mummy was funny."

And they’re both laughing and staring at me now.

Thank God.

Thank God we can laugh once again.
