Chapter 100: 100. My Dark Knight.

Public opinion can be a very crazy thing. It can be in your favor one minute, backing you up but then so easily, it can be turned around to bite you and condemn you. That is exactly what is happening right now.

Alicia was planning on using public opinions and sentiments to her advantage like she has always done. Using her beautiful face and body to entice people, using her tears and pitiful voice to make people side with her while condemning her opponent.

That was her plan. Since she’d tried to seduce Duke multiple times and failed, she was planning to make me jealous tonight. Her goal was to cause a rift between Duke and I, but when she saw that I wasn’t falling for her nonsense like I used to, she switched her plan. If she couldn’t have Duke, and couldn’t build a wall between him and I either, she would ruin his reputation by making him out as a philanderer.

Such a schemer.

However, Alicia had overlooked one very important factor. I’ve been trampled by her one too many times. I know exactly how she thinks. I know what she can do, and how low she can stoop. While she_ she underestimated her opponent.

The day after Duke told me about meeting her and how she’d tried to seduce him, I decided to collect evidence against her. I mean, having been punished a lot of times in place of Alicia, I wanted to be prepared in case there came a day where she would want to mess with Duke.

I just had this feeling that she would pull a stunt like this, so I begged Alan to help me collect footages from the plane Duke had boarded and he brought back what I asked but he also brought back a footage of Alicia walking to the trash bin Duke had dumped that coat in and the camera caught her picking it out of the trash. You’d be grateful that the cameras at that airport were so clear, I could see a pencil without squinting my eyes.

After watching the footage from the plane they had boarded I couldn’t help but applaud Duke for his patience, but then I jealously told him he could have shoved her off his body earlier than that.

We ended up having a heated night that day... if you know what I mean.

I kept the footages on my phone all this while, because I thought it might come in handy and well, it has!

So yeah, right now, I’m playing the footage from the plane for all to see and public opinion has definitely shifted. Now I can hear them no longer whispering, but actually discussing within themselves...

"That means she’s lying! Look at it, she’s clearly close to stripping in front of the man." My thoughts exactly when I watched that footage too.

"Look how hard he is trying to keep calm, such a faithful man." Indeed, but I still think he could have shoved her off his body earlier.

"She could as well just take off her clothes, oh my gosh how lewd! To a man who is already someone’s husband?" God bless you brother! To a man who is married!

"What kind of woman has no shame to go after her cousin’s husband?!" Obviously, the kind of woman standing there glaring at me like a possessed witch!

"Champagne! Th_that footage it’s a lie. Don’t believe her! I— I was only trying to talk to him and_ and—" Oh shit up Alicia, you have no way of getting out of this.

"That is so embarrassing, I mean how is she even still standing there. I think she should hide under a desk or something." You’d think she would do that, instead of standing there and biting her lips so strongly.

"Did you see any place where he puts his coat over her?" There is no such place, I’ve watched this footage on replay.

"I was waiting to see that too. Did she lie about that too?" You bet she did.

"Oh my gosh look how she’s touching a married man! She is a danger to all married men out there! Tsk." Finally! Someone who understands how dangerous Alicia is. One can never be too careful around a woman like her.

"I hope my boyfriend doesn’t come in contact with that siren!"

"And she was saying he was the one touching her. Look, she’s the one sexually harassing him. Don’t they sue women for those kinds of things too?" Awn, oh but that will be too much, she’s my cousin after all.

Oh dear, I’m having fun. And so are the reporters at the back who are clicking pictures endlessly.

"Oh, I have more videos to—"

"Champagne!!! You—" Alicia shouts walking towards me.

"Champagne that’s enough!" Aunt Evelyn rises to her feet and says firmly while stopping Alicia from moving forward.

"What are you both even talking about? I still got loads of videos to show." Yep, that’s right, I decided to collect all the footage I could find of every time Duke and Alicia ever shared the same space.

"I mean she was trying to slander my dear husband. And see, I can take any insult, but it’s an entirely different story when you mess with my man!! I will rip out your dirty undergarments and spread them out to the world if you so much as look at my husband!"

I know, I am sounding Possessive but what can I say, I promised myself I won’t let Alicia take another man from me. Especially not my Grand Duke. I’d do even crazier things to keep that man.

"Now for that particular coat..." I say and play the footage from the airport.

"Champagne!" Aunt Evelyn calls again, and this time I see her signal the guards. So she’s going to have them manhandle me.

Before that thought can settle in my head, I see Dukee rising up from his seat. Slowly, Majestically... sexily, he walks towards me.

"I think it’s time I join my dearest wife in stage." He says and I can’t stop that girlish grin on my face as he winks at me and moves on to stand behind me as if silently daring any bastard to come near me.

Damn!!! I love my husband!!! I feel like we’re acting in a very intense movie right now. I’m the strong female lead and he’s the dark knight who is crazy for me. My Dark Knight.

And as I expected, his mere gaze is enough to halt those men. Awn, I should give him a kiss after this is done.

The footage continues and shows an obviously annoyed Duke dumping his coat in the trash bin like the thing irritated him beyond all measures.

Then some seconds later, Alicia who had watched him from afar walks up to the trash bin, pulls out the coat and tucks it into her bag.

Now here comes the public opinion. Dear God, I love this. And I love that I’m not the only one enjoying this. The proud look on Duke’s face is everything right now.

"Oh my gosh, did you see that? Did you? He dumped it in the trash." Yes, he did.

"I thought it was insane when he wiped his hand and body with wipes in the plane in the first footage, but did he just actually throw away his coat because she touched him?"

"And she was claiming he was interested in her?! Hahaha! She’s delusional!"

"Exactly! The man clearly wants nothing to do with her and seeing that he had to throw his coat away and clean his body with wet wipes, he wasn’t lying earlier when he said he couldn’t stand her stench."

"I mean the man actually threw his coat into the trash. That’s an expensive coat!"

"Wait, wait, please don’t— don’t, come on please don’t— oh my gosh!! Did she really just go through trash!!"

"Alicia Gold rummaging through trash for a man’s coat and then using it to lie against him now. Wow, so the rumors about her were true."

"What rumors?"

"I heard she used to date all of Champagne’s boyfriends when they were younger."

"So she thought she would steal this man too?"

"That was really cheap. So cheap. If my daughter ever tried something like that, I would lock her up on a forgotten island somewhere."

Sometimes, I just love public opinion.

"I told you there are more videos people. I hope we’re all enjoying the movie." I giggle delightfully as I switch to a different video that shows Alicia accosting Duke in a lobby and following him even though he’s ignoring her.

"Oh, at this point she is just shameless."

"Look at how she’s wagging her tail. What a loose woman!"

"I didn’t expect this from a member of the esteemed Gold family."

"I always knew Alicia was a flirt, but at least she should have controlled her urges in front of her cousin’s husband!"

"I have no other words to describe her but cheap."

"She is just so—"

Everyone’s talks cease. And all eyes turn from the screen to the direction where the heated sound just came from and Alicia is on the ground with a hand on her face while Aunt Evelyn is hovering above her with rage in her eyes.

That’s the first time Alicia has been slapped in front of me.. I’m really really having fun!!
