Chapter 36 - 26: Leave Him? _2

Chapter 36: Chapter 26: Leave Him? _2

His handsome face was close to hers, his hot breath fanning the tip of her nose. His gaze was chilling, his voice intoxicating. "Can’t satisfy you, hmm?"

"Wha...what?" Knowing what he meant, she feigned ignorance.

His narrow eyes thinned into slits. "Playing dumb?"

She nervously pressed her hands against his chest. "I’m not..."

His dark eyes flashed with a strange light. "Being dishonest?"

She guiltily looked away.

The next second, "AH!" She screamed in pain, realizing he had just bitten her lip forcefully.

He clearly had the air of teaching her a lesson, his voice cold. "So, you feel pain, yet you dare to speak to the media like that? Do you know what men fear most?"

She pursed her throbbing lips, her voice laced with grievance as she mumbled, "Being... questioned... about their abilities."

He lowered his body. "Hmm, so you do understand. Why weren’t you scared when you did it? Afraid only now?"

She couldn’t help but retort, "You ruined my reputation first, and now you’re playing the victim! Didn’t you consider that I still have to get married someday? After what you’ve said, who would dare to have me?"

A wicked smirk touched his lips. "My men only said those things because you’re always unwilling to cooperate with me in *that* regard."

Yes, she had been cold to him for the past two years, even though he had always been passionate towards her.

She turned her head to the side and said, annoyed, "Our marriage isn’t a normal one. Why should I cooperate with you?"

His gaze darkened, and he said quietly, "I don’t like sharp-tongued women!"

She fired back directly, "I don’t need you to like me!"

He sneered.

She fell silent.

He immediately turned her face back to his, gazing into her eyes, dark like black grapes, and asked, "Why so quiet?"

She seized the chance to push him away, a hint of desolation in her expression. "Stop messing around. Let’s just call it even..."

With a swift movement, his large hand pulled her back into his embrace. A cunning glint returned to his eyes as he stared at her. "Who said we’re even? We still need to settle the matter of those thirty million."

She said confidently, "You gave me the card."

"Then you at least owe me some interest."

"What interest?"

"For example, like this..." He leaned down and gently pecked her lips.

She flushed with anger and embarrassment. "Hey! Don’t get handsy with me! Don’t forget, we’re not married anymore..." In her view, the two of them had no relationship after laying their cards on the table.

He buried his face in her neck, his hot breath tickling her skin as he mumbled indistinctly, "The marriage certificate is still there."

"You..."

She didn’t even have time to finish her sentence before he sealed her lips with his.

After that, no matter how much Rebecca Quentin resisted, all her clothes still ended up scattered on the floor.

Amidst the chorus of their panting, she finally managed to force out, "Mmph... Nnngh... The child..."

He didn’t respond. He carried her to the chaise longue in her room, sat down, and settled her onto his lap. Then, with a force that was both domineering and gentle, he entered her.

In the evening, Rebecca Quentin was awakened by Isabella Joanna.

Overcome with exhaustion, she could barely open her eyes and responded to her friend in a daze, "Isabella, stop bothering me, I’m so sleepy..."

Isabella Joanna climbed onto the bed and lifted the blanket.

Seeing Rebecca Quentin naked, Isabella Joanna gasped and hastily pulled the blanket over her.

Rebecca Quentin finally awoke, clutching the blanket tightly.

Isabella Joanna muttered, "Rebecca Quentin, you wretched girl! To think you’d even lie to me! Hmph!"

"What’s wrong?"

"I saw Howard Geoffrey leave just ten minutes ago."

Rebecca Quentin’s cheeks flushed red, and she awkwardly replied, "Oh, really?"

"I timed it. He was in the room with you for a full five hours. Don’t think I don’t know what he was ’punishing’ you for in there."

"..."

"Damn you to hell, I ought to strangle you! You actually said he couldn’t perform? Then pray tell, who was screaming their head off in the room for the last five hours?"

Rebecca Quentin was speechless with exasperation.

「XX Private Hospital.」

The doctor came out of the ward and, seeing the visitor, bowed respectfully. "Mr. Geoffrey."

Howard Geoffrey nodded. "Is she all right?"

The doctor reported truthfully, "According to the consultation results from several American experts, we can attempt to use the newly developed American GRO universal blood to replace the MNSsU blood type. However, it hasn’t been clinically approved, so the surgery’s success rate is only twenty percent. Due to the significant risk, we need you, Mr. Geoffrey, to sign the surgical consent form on behalf of Miss Quinn. Of course, in our medical opinion, proceeding with the surgery still offers her a slim chance of survival."

Howard Geoffrey said, "I don’t care if this surgery only has a twenty percent chance of success. I want her standing before me, whole and unharmed."

The doctor bowed. "We will do our utmost."

Howard Geoffrey then entered the ward.

Overhearing the conversation between the doctor and Howard Geoffrey from a distance, Roye couldn’t help but exclaim, "Miss Quinn’s life is hanging by a thread! May she be blessed to pull through this ordeal!"

Jason Wood leaned against the wall with his arms crossed, praying silently.

After a moment of silence, Jason Wood asked, "Where did the Boss just come from? Miss Quinn has been asking to see him."

Roye whispered, "The Quentin residence."

Jason Wood’s eyes widened. "The Boss went to see Miss Quentin?"

"Yes! He was with Miss Quentin at the Quentin residence for over five hours!"

Jason Wood leaned closer to Roye’s ear. "What did they do?"

"That I don’t know, but when the Boss returned, he had scratch marks on his arm..." At this point, Roye’s eyes widened in realization. "The President couldn’t have... done *that* with Miss Quentin at her place, could he?"

Jason Wood nodded.

"Heavens! How could the President do this to Miss Quinn? Especially after everything Miss Quinn has done for the President..."

Jason Wood shot Roye a look. "What do you know? The Boss always has his reasons for everything he does. Even if he was with Miss Quentin, it’s definitely not because he has feelings for her."

"Then why?"

Jason Wood beckoned with his finger. Roye immediately leaned in close, and Jason Wood whispered the explanation in his ear.

A few seconds later, Roye stood frozen to the spot, speechless for a long moment.

Jason Wood sighed. "Although I pity Miss Quentin somewhat, she can only blame her bad fate. After all, she’s Alexander Quentin’s daughter."

「Greent Forest Cemetery.」

Rebecca Quentin took off her sunglasses and placed the bouquet she was holding in front of her father’s tombstone.
