Chapter 53: Money energy.
Hatake was caught off guard.
The punch came in a flash—fast, brutal, and completely unexpected.
The force behind it made him question, if only for a moment, whether Caleb was truly human.
Naya and Julia were just as stunned, both caught off guard by the speed with which Caleb had closed the distance.
’No one kisses my girl and gets away without a punch,’ Caleb said, flashing Naya a confident smile.
Naya froze. For a second, it didn’t register—then his words echoed in her head.
Her eyes widened slightly as a wave of red crept up from her chin, coloring her face like a ripe tomato.
’W-What are you saying?!’ she snapped, flustered. But her expression betrayed her, the embarrassment written all over her face.
’I said what I said,’ Caleb replied smoothly, locking eyes with her.
Naya went quiet. Her heart was pounding, each beat like a drum in her ears. But looking into his eyes... she felt a sudden calm wash over her. A strange sense of safety.
’Now I know what felt different about his eyes.’
Every time she looked into them, she saw it—the warmth, the care, the genuine emotion. That quiet, steady confidence. That playful spark.
Everything felt whole in those green eyes of his.
’Damn it! I blushed! I said I’d be the one to make him flustered!’ she thought, clenching her fists in frustration.
Once again, she’d fallen for Caleb’s reckless, irresistible charm.
A burst of laughter came from the side.
Julia couldn’t hold it in anymore.
’I won’t lie... you’re lucky you got a simple girl. Lines like that wouldn’t work on me,’ Julia teased with a smirk.
Caleb didn’t respond. Instead, his attention snapped toward the sound coming from the side.
Hatake stood tall again, glaring at Caleb with bloodshot eyes.
"You know, for a brat... you pack quite the punch," he growled, snapping his dislocated jaw back into place with a crack.
The atmosphere thickened as all three turned their focus on him.
"I don’t think it’s fair, three against one," Hatake sneered, stretching both hands outward. "So let’s make this a fair fight..."
The skin on his palms tore open, and silver jelly oozed out, slithering to the floor.
Upon contact with the ground, the jelly began to shift and mold, forming into two identical copies of Nathan.
"Let’s see how long the mirror energy in your cards will last," Hatake said coldly.
"Caleb, be careful..." Julia warned, concern flashing across her face as the two clones took shape.
"Don’t worry about me," Caleb replied, his eyes locked onto the enemy. "I retained some of the card’s abilities. I’ll manage."
Julia gave him a lingering look. "Alright then... but please, stay safe."
Caleb nodded.
In the next instant, Julia vanished into black shadows, reappearing beside one of the Nathans.
She launched a punch, but it was caught mid-air. Without hesitation, she drove her knee hard into its crotch.
A sharp, sickening crack followed.
She didn’t hold back.
The impact was so strong it forced the clone to double over in pain—only to meet a second brutal knee, this time to the face.
The clone was sent flying, blood spilling from its nose as it crashed into the far wall.
"If you’d chosen a female body, maybe you would’ve dodged that one," Julia said with a wicked grin.
Caleb flinched at the sight. For a moment, he felt phantom pain echoing in his own groin.
His balls shriveled in terror.
’Damn... she really is crazy,’ Caleb thought.
He didn’t have time to dwell. A hand came swinging toward his face.
Caleb tilted his head, narrowly avoiding the blow, then followed up with a quick kick.
But Hatake was fast, dodging effortlessly and stepping back.
’He’s fast. And he hasn’t even started using his full abilities,’ Caleb thought, reading Hatake’s movement.
The others weren’t having an easy time either.
They were holding their own—for now—but he wasn’t sure how long that would last.
Suddenly, a glowing ball of flame came flying straight at him.
Caleb rolled to the side, narrowly avoiding the attack.
"You’re decent in combat," Hatake said with a cruel grin. "But you’re never going to win. You all run on limited energy..."
He raised his arms, his eyes glowing with malice.
"...But I don’t."
’He’s not wrong,’ Caleb thought, glancing at Naya and Julia.
Both of them were fully engaged, unleashing their abilities.
The air had turned icy cold as Naya fired off jagged spikes of ice like darts, rapid and relentless.
They flew so fast the clone could barely dodge.
One spike came after the other, a constant barrage—like a machine gun made of frost and fury.
But Caleb noticed something.
With each spike, the next came just a bit slower. Her energy was fading—draining with every shot.
Julia, on the other hand, was doing far better.
Her ability was irritatingly effective. She vanished and reappeared at will, like a ghost—flickering in and out of sight, impossible to pin down.
The clone didn’t stand a chance. Blood dripped from its nose as it struggled to keep up,
barely dodging Julia’s attacks.
’Soon enough the energy from the cards will deplete, they won’t be able to fight as they are now, but I can still use mine’ Caleb thought as he observed the two.
Then Caleb heard the voice behind him.
"You focus on others a bit too much," Hakate said as he approached.
Before Caleb could react, a heavy fist slammed into his cheek.
Pain exploded in his jaw as the taste of blood filled his mouth.
"That’s for the punch from earlier," Hakate said coolly.
He didn’t relent as he went in again, throwing another punch.
But his body froze mid-pucnch.
He felt the chilling ice cold coming from beneath him.
It spread fast like a plague.
Climbing up like a snake.
He looked down and he saw his legs frozen in place by a thick block of ice.
{$10,000 Used! Absolute freeze activated!}
"You were wrong about one thing, yes I run on limited energy, but I don’t think my money will be finishing anytime soon"
Caleb smiled back with a smug grin.
