Conquering His Cold Heart
Chapter 434 - 434: Resolution

Anastasia and Tilla were inside Tilla's bedchamber. Anastasia was quietly sitting on the sofa whereas Tilla was lying down on her bed.

It was already dusk by now and the two of them had exhausted the topics to talk about.

Vincent, on the other hand, had disappeared from the mansion after talking with Anastasia in the morning.

His heart, however, weighed heavy, bound by the secret of Anastasia. He had promised her that he wouldn't be the one to let the secret out to Caspian. He wanted Anastasia to be the one to confide in Caspian and make things right.

"Anna…" Tilla finally broke the silence in the room and asked, "Are you planning on staying here tonight? If so, I shall ask Penelope to prepare everything for you." As it was getting dark and Anastasia wasn't showing any interest in returning to the castle, Tilla wondered if she had planned to stay the night.

However, Anastasia shook her head as her eyes kept on staring aimlessly outside the window.

The room was filled with silence again.

Tilla's heart was starting to get restless by the second. Just like Caspian, she also didn't want Anastasia to travel at a time when vampires enjoyed taking strolls.

But at the same time, Tilla couldn't exactly ask Anastasia to leave since she was the guest.

After thinking for a while, Tilla asked Anastasia somewhat indirectly, "Then, shall I ask for some tea to warm you up for the travel? It's getting pretty windy out there."

Anastasia was still staring out of the window without even blinking. Her mind was full of noises that wouldn't settle down. Still, she managed to process what Tilla asked of her and answered, "Very well. A cup of tea would be nice before I go."

Tilla sighed and immediately pulled a rope that was hanging down beside her pillow. The bell that was attached to the rope rang somewhere outside.

And almost instantly, Penelope appeared in the room. "Yes, mistress. Did you need anything?" she asked with a bright smile.

Tilla smiled back at her and asked politely, "Miss Penelope, will you please ask the maids to bring a nice and warm cup of tea for the Queen?"

"Oh, with pleasure!" Penelope gave a nod to Tilla, and she also gave a polite bow to the Queen before disappearing from the room.

Tilla then looked at Anastasia's gloomy face. She had tried to brighten up her mood throughout the day. However, Anastasia would return back to the same sad mood after a few minutes or even seconds.

"Anna, please don't overthink the matter too much!" Tilla asked in a defeated tone. "The King loves you dearly. He will listen to your reasons and he will forgive you. Besides, it was not your choice to get sick. All you did was conceal it from him for his own good. I bet he will understand."

Anastasia heaved a deep sigh. And although she tried to hold in her emotions, tears instantly welled up in her eyes.

"Still… understanding why I concealed it from him doesn't mean that his pain will be any less." Anastasia grabbed her head with both of her hands and looked down. "I can't see him in pain…" a whisper came out of her trembling lips.

Tilla pushed herself up and rested her back on the stack of pillows. She looked at her broken friend and said firmly, "But you will have to. There's no other choice, is there? Better to see him in pain than see him hate you."

Anastasia looked up at Tilla as if she was asking her friend to take back her words.

However, Tilla made it even clearer, "Just imagine what he will go through if he found out about your condition from someone else."

Anastasia's heart dropped just imagining Caspian finding out about her illness from someone other than her. It would be a disaster.

And Tilla affirmed what she was thinking by stating the bitter truth, "He will interpret things in his own way and he will probably think that the whole relationship between you two was nothing but a sham. He might think that you lied to him for some kind of political gain for your father or something even worse."

"But I did lie for my own gain…" Anastasia pulled her hair and grunted. The discomfort in her heart was about to swallow her whole. And all she wanted to do was scream and run away from there.

However, Tilla was there to hold her hand. "You don't want things to go that way, Anna," she said in a much more polite tone. "Gather up your courage and face him. When he will embrace you in his arms and say that he loves you no matter what, you will know that all your worries were for nothing."

Tilla said those things with such confidence that Anastasia felt her burden getting somewhat lighter. She also recalled how Vincent believed that Caspian would forgive her.

Their words of comfort did indeed offer her some boost in courage that she desperately needed.

"Alright." Anastasia took a deep breath and wiped her eyes. She then hardened her resolve and finally said with confidence, "I will see a good time and say everything to Caspian. He deserves to know the truth. And soon."

Tilla softly smiled upon seeing her friend finally making up her mind. "Yes, he deserves to know the truth from your mouth. I hope that you won't back out at the last moment. The more you delay, the harder it will be for both of you."

Anastasia understandingly nodded her head. She slowly got up from the sofa and began to straighten the creases of her gown. And as she did so, she said, "I had promised Caspian that I would be home before dark. I should probably get going."

Right at that moment, there was a soft knock on the door. A maid soon walked in after getting Tilla's permission. And she said in a sweet voice, "I've brought the tea."

Tilla looked at Anastasia and asked, "Tea is already here. Why don't we sit down and have it before you leave?"

Anastasia had already forgotten that she had said yes to the tea. However, since it was already brought to the room, she agreed. "Okay. I will leave right after."
