Ch. 30 - Is ChuaChuan Too Much?

"Shiyu, don't you think Chuan Chuan is too much? I made him breakfast this morning, and after eating, he just kicked me out!"

"I think he just found me annoying, a third wheel. He definitely wants to make a move on that girl!"

In Luo Xi's room, the girl sat on the edge of her bed, clutching her pillow, talking on the phone.

On the other end of the line, her best friend, An Shiyu, replied with an "eh" after hearing Luo Xi's complaints. 

"Well, if Ye Chuan is trying to chase that girl, you are a third wheel."

"B-but at least…" Luo Xi's voice softened as she stared at her toes. "He could have offered me a cup of tea."

"Melodramatic," a cold voice sneered from the phone.

"Hey! That's mean!" Luo Xi's eyes widened. She hadn't done anything wrong; she just felt that Ye Chuan shouldn't have dismissed her so quickly.

"I haven't seen you react this way when Ye Chuan dated other girls before. Why are you so upset this time?" An Shiyu asked. "Did that girl offend you?"

"It's different! Before, ChuanChuan only dated those girls for free meals. He wasn't serious!" Luo Xi immediately said. 

"This girl is not only rich but also very beautiful, and Chuan Chuan is taking such good care of her."

"Oh, I get it. You knew those other girls were just flings, nothing serious, but this rich beauty is giving you a sense of crisis, right?" An Shiyu said.

Luo Xi felt that An Shiyu had a point, though she didn't know where Ye Chuan's confidence came from.

"Shiyu, you really think Chuan Chuan will be okay?"

"Who knows? He won't die, at worst, a broken leg?"

"That's still very dangerous!" Luo Xi said.

Just then, she heard the doorbell ring—

"Ding dong~"

"Someone's here, I'm hanging up," Luo Xi said, getting up.

"Okay."

After hanging up, Luo Xi went to open the door and saw a familiar figure standing outside.

It was Ye Chuan, wearing a clean t-shirt and a smile.

"What are you doing here?" Luo Xi immediately turned away after seeing Ye Chuan. 

"You already kicked me out, why waste your time coming back?"

"Want to have a feast?" Ye Chuan asked.

"You should be enjoying your time with that pretty girl, I won't bother you. I'm just a cook, here to make a meal and then leave," Luo Xi continued muttering.

"There's a new hot pot place that opened recently, it's supposed to be pretty good."

Luo Xi turned around. "I'm just a burden to you."

"I'm treating you, let's go now," Ye Chuan smiled.

Luo Xi pouted and tugged at Ye Chuan's sleeve. "You still need to see a doctor, you should save money. Let's eat at my place."

"I'm cured," Ye Chuan said.

"How is that…" Luo Xi looked at Ye Chuan's face and froze. Before, his complexion was pale and sickly, but now it was rosy, and he looked much more energetic.

How was that possible?

Luo Xi was in disbelief. And for some reason, even though nothing seemed to have changed, she felt that Ye Chuan had become even more handsome.

She reached out and touched his face. "Did you put on makeup?"

"All natural, okay?" Ye Chuan said.

"But you didn't look like this this morning?"

"Don't you know guys look different after washing their faces?" Ye Chuan chuckled.

Luo Xi looked at Ye Chuan, puzzled, unable to pinpoint what was different. Finally, she said, "Are you… having a final burst of energy before you die?"

"..." Ye Chuan rolled his eyes.

"I'm just feeling better. Come on, beautiful Luo Xi, let's go get some good food." Ye Chuan turned around and pulled Luo Xi along.

Luo Xi stared blankly at Ye Chuan, then finally replied with an "oh."

They took a taxi, and Ye Chuan led Luo Xi to a restaurant. The upscale decor clearly indicated that it wasn't cheap.

"Chuan Chuan, these seafood restaurants are expensive, we can't afford this," Luo Xi whispered to Ye Chuan.

"Let's go, I said I'm treating you."

Seeing Ye Chuan walk in, Luo Xi had no choice but to follow.

If anything happened, she would just use her own savings to pay.

"Hello, how many?" the waiter at the door asked.

"Two, we'd like a booth."

"Alright, please follow me."

After they were seated in a booth in the main dining area, the waiter brought them menus.

Luo Xi's eyes widened as she saw the prices on the menu. "Chuan Chuan, this is super expensive! Look, one set meal is 588 yuan, and the couple's set is 1288."

"Chuan Chuan, I'm not mad anymore, let's just sneak out… I'll cover for you," Luo Xi whispered in Ye Chuan's ear.

She knew Ye Chuan had a few thousand yuan from the rent, but this was way beyond their budget.

"It's fine." Ye Chuan called the waiter and ordered the 1288 yuan couple's set.

"Chuan Chuan!" Luo Xi immediately tugged at his arm.
