Chapter 1360 - Chapter 1360 Chapter 1360 Mr. Novak is Just a Stranger
Chapter 1360: Chapter 1360: Mr. Novak is Just a Stranger Chapter 1360: Chapter 1360: Mr. Novak is Just a Stranger Penny Kalafatis revealed a smug smile, after all, she is Mrs. Novak now. Even if Willie adored Xaviera Evans, he would never berate her publicly.
“Willie, it’s all a misunderstanding, I…” Penny began to placate him.
“You condescend to greet Xaviera? Aren’t you aware of your own status?” Willie Novak glared at her coldly, the words he spit out sending chills down everyone’s spine.
Penny’s eyes filled with disbelief, “Willie… Willie …”
Willie spoke in a harsh tone, “Penny, did you say that Xaviera seduces married men?”
The crowd was dumbfounded. What exactly was going on? Mr. Novak seemed very angry and why was he questioning Mrs. Novak? Wasn’t he here to support her?
Just as everyone was left confused, Caleb Mamet suddenly scoffed, his eyes filled with a cold murderous intent, “Mrs. Novak, you have yet to answer my earlier question.”
Penny hesitated, as she turned to look at Caleb.
Despite being smitten with Willie for numerous years, the sight of the man before her made her heart pound. Caleb was more attractive and capable than Willie; the rumors she had heard about him had led to her admiration. Perhaps there was no one more captivating than Caleb in the whole world.
But what was his question earlier?
–‘Mrs. Novak, do you want to know how Xaviera entered?’
On hearing Caleb’s reference to Xaviera, Penny couldn’t help but feel nervous. Did Caleb Mamet know Xaviera as well?
Penny anxiously looked at Willie, her eyes pleading, but Willie merely turned a blind eye. Desperately, she blurted, “Willie… Willie…”
Her heart beating wildly, she realized things were spiraling out of control.
“Apologise to her!” Willie commanded.
His words, clearly directed at Penny, left the crowd, initially trying to defend Penny, dumbfounded. Mrs. Novak was the one being abused, so why was Mr. Novak ordering her to apologize to that woman?
Penny’s eyes welled up, tears streaming down her cheeks, her voice faltered, “Willie, I…”
“Mrs. Novak, did you not hear clearly? Mr. Novak asked you to apologize!” Xaviera spoke with a hint of mockery.
Penny’s face went red, her lips trembling. Sensing things going south, she raised her pitiful gaze to Willie, hoping he would come to her rescue.
Caleb at the side, impatient, turned to look at Xaviera. He gently grabbed her hand and introduced her, “Let me introduce you all. This is my wife, Xaviera Evans. As the hostess of the Mamet Corporation, she doesn’t need an invitation to the auction, and it is indeed true that Mrs. Mamet came with a married man. Only, the man whom she is married to, is me — her husband.”
Upon hearing the term “Mrs. Mamet”, Penny was taken aback. She stared at Xaviera in disbelief.
Was Xaviera married to Caleb?
“I don’t understand why, upon opening her mouth, Mrs. Novak accused me of seducing a married man. I have such an amazing husband, do I need to seduce others? Mr. Novak, why do you think Mrs. Novak would think this way? Even in the past, I never tried to seduce a married man!”
“Ah… Maybe she’s referring to you!” Xaviera sneered, “Mr. Novak, you’re married now too, but we have not seen each other in six years. To me, Mr. Novak is only a stranger. I barely know you, so how could I seduce you?”
As she spoke, Xaviera turned to look at Penny and smirked, “Mrs. Novak, just because you like a man doesn’t mean everybody else will too. You came here announcing your claim over him, don’t you find that ridiculous?”
“Xaviera!” Penny glared at her, trembling in anger.
How could she dare to say that? Penny refuses to believe that Xaviera never had feelings for Willie!
A crowd that had gathered around Penny earlier had now dissipated. They clearly understood the situation. Miss Evans was Caleb’s wife; she was not at all interested in Mr. Novak. Mrs. Novak had overreacted, suspecting others of coveting her husband.
Besides, as Miss Evans said, when she and Mr. Novak were apart, she was only fourteen. At that time, she was focused entirely on her studies, with no interest in love; even if she had feelings for Mr. Novak then, six years would have been plenty of time for those feelings to fade. Now, Miss Evans was married to Caleb and had a fulfilling marriage. There was no intention of rekindling an old flame with Mr. Novak. All this was just Mrs. Novak’s self-induced drama!
