Chapter 1121 - Chapter 1121 Chapter 1121 I Dont Believe a Single Word
Chapter 1121: Chapter 1121: I Don’t Believe a Single Word Chapter 1121: Chapter 1121: I Don’t Believe a Single Word Xaviera Evans looked into Caleb Mamet’s deep eyes, suddenly feeling a bad premonition. In the next second, he sneered and slowly approached her, standing on the lower stair, looking up at her with raised eyebrows, asking, “How does Mrs. Mamet know about the Drew family’s visit to their ancestor’s grave?”
Xaviera’s body instantly stiffened, her heart in turmoil.
Caleb looked amused but not quite smiling, “Since Mrs. Mamet hasn’t been out recently, how did you know that Mr. Drew was unconscious and learn about the Drew family’s event?”
Xaviera was at a loss. It wouldn’t be difficult for Caleb to find out about these things, but she had been busy with school matters recently and hadn’t logged into her Black Tide account. So how could she explain that she knew about the Drew family’s situation?
Xaviera chuckled awkwardly, “Caleb, I am Black Tide! What’s so strange about me knowing these things? I haven’t logged in recently, but my identity is still there. I don’t have to investigate personally to learn what I want to know, someone naturally reports to me. And the people in Star knew about the grudges between me and the Drew family, so as soon as there’s any news from them, they would inform me first thing.”
She thought her reasons were sufficient, but Caleb just looked at her flatly for a long while before retracting his gaze and laughing softly, “Mrs. Mamet makes a valid point, but…”
Just as Xaviera breathed a sigh of relief, Caleb’s words made her heart jump again. The next second, she heard his teasing voice with a hint of amusement, “But… I don’t believe you.”
Xaviera’s mouth twitched slightly, her eyes widening. What’s the point of listening to me if you don’t believe me?
As if Caleb hadn’t noticed her angry face, he still smiled gently, “Mrs. Mamet’s attempts to deceive me are quite adorable, it’s just a pity that I don’t believe a single word.”
Suppressing her urge to explode, Xaviera gave a hollow laugh, “Caleb, what I’m saying is true.”
Caleb took her hand and led her down the stairs, sitting together on the sofa. “Do you really want to know about the Drew family?”
Xaviera knew she couldn’t fool Caleb and stopped pretending. With a nod, she admitted her intentions.
“Then come closer.” Caleb beckoned to her.
Curious and without any defenses, Xaviera leaned closer to Caleb, half her body leaning on him. Her big, expectant eyes gazed at him, “Go on.”
The man’s hot breath sprayed on her nose, his sandalwood scent entangling her senses, intoxicatingly addictive.
He straightened up slightly, his lips inadvertently brushing her earlobe with a faint, cool touch. Xaviera shuddered as her heart raced, then heard his magnetic voice next to her ear, “No rush, I’ll tell you next month.”
As he finished speaking, he pulled away from her with a smile, the ambiguous atmosphere between them dissipating instantly.
Xaviera clenched her teeth and fists, thinking, ‘Does this bastard think it’s fun to tease me like this all the time?’
One minute later, Xaviera stormed upstairs in a huff. Upon returning to her bedroom, she became increasingly frustrated. She knew Caleb suspected her of secretly investigating but how could he even know about the two people she had planted in the Drew family? Even her senior fellow Albert didn’t know!
Perhaps Caleb didn’t actually know and was merely guessing, but how could he suspect her of poisoning Sir Drew? Even the Drew family themselves were unsure if Sir Drew was truly unconscious or faking it. Where did Caleb get his information from?
No matter what, she had to make sure everything was arranged before the visit to their ancestor’s grave so that Boyd Drew’s plan would fail. She picked up her phone and sent a message, then waited for her subordinate to report on the situation.
“Miss, Sir Drew is still unconscious and won’t wake up for a while.”
Xaviera smiled with satisfaction upon hearing the report. She then informed her subordinate about Caleb’s suspicions. After a moment of silence, the other party replied, “Miss, you’ve been married to Mr. Caleb Mamet for so long, and he’s already guessed everything you’ve done. Why don’t you just tell him? After all, you’ve done everything for him!”
“No! Absolutely not!” Xaviera refused without hesitation.
“But…”
Xaviera interrupted with grievance, “Remember! I am the vulnerable and helpless Mrs. Mamet! I’m kind-hearted and weak. There’s no way I could poison anyone! Mr. Drew’s unconsciousness has nothing to do with me!”
The subordinate was speechless. They could understand Miss though, after all, she had been pretending to be weak for so long and certainly wouldn’t want to ruin her image in Caleb’s heart.
