Chapter 1094: Chapter 1094: Boyd Drew Does Not Abide By The Gambling Agreement Chapter 1094: Chapter 1094: Boyd Drew Does Not Abide By The Gambling Agreement “That Winifred Drew is too much, always taking advantage of poor Miss Evans!” The crowd stared at Winifred with disdain in their eyes.
At this point, Winifred was practically fuming. Xaviera Evans and Caleb Mamet were teaming up against the Drew family, and Winifred was hardly powerless. In fact, she was the most scheming woman!
Xaviera left the office building and headed straight to a luxury car parked at the entrance. Caleb opened the door, and Xaviera handed him her phone, smiling, “I recorded everything Winifred said. Take this and show it to the Drew family. What do you think their reaction will be?”
In the eyes of everyone, Winifred was the daughter of the Drew family. She had set traps for Xaviera time and time again, presumably on Sir Drew’s orders, in order to force Caleb back into the Drew family.
Caleb’s eyes were full of laughter, and he playfully raised his eyebrows. “Mrs. Mamet is truly brilliant.”
Xaviera moved closer to him, a shy expression on her face. “Is praising me all you’re going to do? Don’t I get something more?”
She had been thinking for a long time; Caleb owed her a favor this time. She had to make full use of it and maximize its value.
As she hesitated, Caleb slowly spoke, “How about I personally cook a meal for Mrs. Mamet?”
Xaviera was momentarily stunned, then broke into a delighted smile. She had tasted a meal cooked by Caleb before, and it was heavenly. Unfortunately, she hadn’t had enough last time. This time, she was determined to eat her fill.
Two hours later, Xaviera left the dining table with a full belly, slumping onto the couch. Caleb, on the other hand, took a phone call and rushed out.
After a long time, the butler approached her and hesitated before saying, “Madam, have you heard about the Drew family’s situation? Sir Drew has fallen ill; they say it’s from anger building up in his heart…”
Xaviera raised an eyebrow, “Could it be because of me and Caleb?”
The butler nodded, “Yes, it’s because of that 5% stake. People outside are talking about how you and Mr. Caleb Mamet made Sir Drew ill, and Mr. Drew is stirring up trouble and spreading false rumors.”
Xaviera remembered the bet she had with Boyd Drew several months ago regarding whether she could ride a horse. She had won the bet, earning a 5% stake in the Drew Corporation.
On the surface, a 5% stake may not seem like much, but if converted to cash, it would be more than an ordinary family could spend in a lifetime. Fair is fair, and the Drew family should have handed over the shares, but they had been dragging their feet.
Xaviera knew it was difficult to pry that 5% stake from the Drew family’s hands. There were complex procedures for transferring ownership of shares, which they could keep delaying. As the president of the Drew Corporation, Boyd needed to sign off on all documents and procedures. If he didn’t cooperate at any stage, the process would stall.
Months had passed, and the situation should have been resolved, but instead, news of Sir Drew’s illness had surfaced, likely as an excuse for the Drew family to renege on their promise.
A senior executive from the Drew Corporation visited Sean Price, and after spewing a bunch of nonsense, essentially argued that the bet was a joke and not a genuine wager. Even if Xaviera had lost, Mr. Drew wouldn’t have demanded Mr. Mamet’s shares.
— Mr. Caleb Mamet and the Drew family were related, and there was no need to cause ill feelings over a 5% stake. Donating the Drew Corporation’s shares to Xaviera required a complicated process, including discussions and decisions by the board members and shareholders. Furthermore, too much time had elapsed since the bet — it should just be forgotten.
— Caleb had only just reunited with the Drew family, so now was not the time to pressure Boyd to relinquish the 5% stake. Sir Drew’s health had taken a turn for the worse, and pursuing the matter would negatively impact Caleb and Xaviera’s reputation.
Xaviera scoffed at the butler’s description, realizing that Boyd Drew had intended to break the agreement all along. Now he was merely finding new excuses not to hand over the shares.
It was clear that the Drew family couldn’t take the consequences of the wager and weren’t abiding by its terms. Now they had the audacity to guilt Caleb morally. They insinuated that if Caleb remained aggressive in his pursuit, he would be deemed unfilial.
Xaviera asked casually, “Are the Drew representatives still at the Mamet Corporation?”
The butler replied softly, “Mr. Mamet is attending an important meeting at the Huzo Building, so Sean Price didn’t want to disturb him. However, the representatives from the Drew family went along, and it seems they intend to cause trouble. When the meeting is over, who knows how Mr. Mamet will handle the situation. Mr. Price called to ask if you want the Drew family members to be kicked out?”
