Chimaera's Conquest: The Legend Of The Devourer -
Chapter 81: Deception (1)
Chapter 81: Deception (1)
[The entity, Sin of Sloth, is baffled by the User’s decision and has turned red!]
’Meh, whatever,’ Adrian shrugged and closed the prompts before him.
He was indeed interested in owning the weapon before and would have done so after killing Malachi. However, he couldn’t get past how easily the entity to whom Malachi had sworn absolute loyalty disowned him.
Adrian just couldn’t wrap his head around it. The way entity sold Malachi out to him by revealing the truth about the weapon and the only way to kill him.
All because he wasn’t good ’entertainment’ made Adrian question if he ever wanted to side with them, knowing the demon could similarly betray him for no reason.
That said, Adrian couldn’t risk denying the demon and having her exact revenge on him by offering the weapon to someone else. While he wasn’t tempted to accept the deal, he knew there were plenty of miserable souls who wouldn’t hesitate.
That’s why it was important for him to get rid of the rapier altogether, even if it meant angering the Sloth. Moreover, if Adrian continued to accept the gifts and strictly obey the entities’ commands, they would eventually lose interest in him.
’What they want is entertainment, so that’s what I’ll give them.’
Adrian shrugged and turned to leave, but something happened that left him questioning his decision to destroy the sword.
[The entity, Sin of Sloth, giggles like a child and opens her eyes to see who pleased her.]
’Pleased her...?’
Adrian was confused. He thought the demon would be angry at him for destroying her sword and that she was red from anger. But it seemed she turned red, feeling something on the opposite end of the spectrum.
[The entity, Sin of Sloth, shows off her flushed cheeks and is overjoyed to finally find the person she’s been searching for for a very long time.]
’...she just had to be one of those...’
Adrian felt fine around most folks, except for two types of people. One of them starts with a big ’M,’ and they find joy in being hurt and humiliated. The fabled masochists!
Adrian expected the Sloth to be mad after breaking the sword, but it seemed he unknowingly played with her heartstrings, and now the demon was after him like a stalker.
[Other entities are growling at the entity, Sin of Sloth, reminding her of her status. But she isn’t having any of it and sponsors 15 stat points to the User and offers to be their sugar mommy.]
’...maybe she isn’t as bad.’
Ignoring the prompts, Adrian opened his status tab, only to see he had gained two levels since the last time he checked.

Adrian had plenty of points to use but chose to wait and not spend them at once. He felt content with his current stats. Plus, keeping some points unallocated was always a good idea. He never knew when or how he might need them for something specific.
’Things are going a bit too well...’ Adrian thought as he returned to Akila. ’Something bad is going to happen, isn’t it?’
After many years, Adrian had learned a hard truth in his life—whenever things started going smoothly for him, trouble wasn’t far behind, ready to reset the score to zero.
He remembered the recent days as a prime example. After more than a year, he reunited with Vesper, only to face an attack that led to losing her once again.
Then, he encountered the Banurs and proved his worth to them, only to transform into a raging monster and fuck up everything. Then how could he forget about the mess with Red and almost get killed because of it?
That’s how he knew trouble was brewing somewhere, and boy was he right. Silka, Leno’s mother, grabbed her blade and rushed towards Adrian the moment she saw him.
"YOU TRAITOR!" she yelled.
She had heard how some suspected Adrian to have secretly helped the outsiders and made a plan to avenge her son’s death.
While Silka didn’t know if Adrian was involved in the mess, she didn’t care. All she wanted was her misplaced revenge, and she thought it was the right time to act. Killing Adrian amid chaos seemed like the perfect opportunity; consequences be damned.
Adrian noticed her as well but didn’t react. But someone else did.
A’Mila, as quick as lightning, notched an arrow and shot it at Silka. The arrow lodged itself between Adrian and Silka, stopping her furious charge.
"What are you doing?" Silka roared, hiding her frustration at failing to kill Adrian behind anger.
"That’s what I want to know," A’Mila replied, lowering her bow. "What were you trying to do to my servant?"
"Your servant betrayed us!" Silka shouted. "He brought those outsiders here, thinking they’d beat us. But when he saw we were winning, he switched sides and took out the enemy leader before we could question him!"
A’Mila sighed, shaking her head. Even if what Silka said was true, it didn’t mean she could handle things alone. The council was there for a reason—to ensure decisions were made together.
A’Mila wasn’t going to admit that openly, though, giving Silka a chance to persuade the others in the council. Instead, she decided to divert everyone’s attention and swiftly questioned Silka’s intentions behind her actions, because she knew precisely what Silka wanted to accomplish.
"That’s a bold claim you made," A’Mila demanded. "I hope you have evidence to support your claims, then?"
