Chapter 247: Chimaera Tamer (1)

Chapter 247: Chimaera Tamer (1)

However, the man in the turban stepped up before Adrian could step towards Tim. Adrian didn’t know what relationship the two shared, but placing himself in the middle to shield Tim spoke volumes.

"So this is the brat Victor couldn’t tame?" The man in a turban scoffed. "He doesn’t look any special to me? Victor had created better Chimaeras than him-"

Although Adrian wasn’t paying much attention to what the man had to say, the last line caught his attention. He recalled what Victor was mumbling about before his death, something along the lines of asking for a tamer’s help.

"So it was you?" Adrian mumbled, taking a good look at the nomad. "What’s your name?"

Hearing Adrian’s question, the nomad laughed, retrieving his whip as both prepared for the imminent clash.

"What the point of letting you know my name?" the nomad scoffed. "After all, slaves don’t address their master by name."

Adrian didn’t bother talking back. He quickly checked the nomad’s stats and was surprised... at his weakness.

’So that’s why he’s wearing a turban,’ Adrian thought and smiled.

However, the fight would be more challenging than the system predicted. After all, it wasn’t like Adrian was going against Garath alone. Tim was there with him, and although weaker than Garath, his presence, along with Garath’s summons, would make things difficult for Adrian.

From the corner of his eyes, Adrian looked sideways. The team was rapidly taking down the beastmen. However, their sheer numbers would stop them from intervening in the fight.

While Sophia was eager to help, she wasn’t as strong as Garath, and god knows what kind of summons he’d bring out. Besides, if she joined the fight, Adrian would be distracted, and he couldn’t afford it.

Using [Blood Mist] wasn’t an option either. With the unpredictable weather of the forest, there was no saying where the winds would carry the mist. Adrian could end up poisoning his friends.

’Even then, Garath has poison immunity, and so does Tim,’ Adrian sighed inwardly. ’How the hell does everyone I’ve met recently have poison immunity? Who’s the supplier handing out these ridiculous powers?’

"What happened to your loud mouth!?" Henrio yelled from a distance.

Watching Adrian hesitate, Henrio thought he was scared of the guns he’d hired to clear the dungeon. He failed to realise that Adrian wasn’t scared but was considering ways to deal with the mild inconvenience in his path.

"You’re nothing but a coward, Adrian!" Henrio sneered. Garath and Tim’s presence had undoubtedly made him bolder than usual. "A scared little cat, worried about taking a real fight."

Adrian sighed deeply, shaking his head in frustration. He tried to ignore Henrio’s taunts, but the man’s relentless insults started getting on his nerves. It was becoming impossible to think with Henrio’s jeering laughter constantly in his ears.

"You hear me, Adrian?" Henrio continued, laughing loudly. "You’re pathetic!"

Adrian clenched his fists, trying to keep his temper in check. After all, he didn’t want to make sudden moves that would get his enemy’s attention. But Adrian also knew he had to do something about Henrio.

Finally, unable to take it any longer, Adrian picked up a small stone from the ground. Without a second thought, he threw it at Henrio with all his strength.

Henrio was still laughing when the stone hit him. His laughter cut off abruptly, and a look of shock crossed his face. Blood gushed out of his mouth, and he looked down in horror.

The stone had made a hole in his chest as if it were a bullet, not a pebble, crushing his heart. Henrio collapsed to the ground, dead before he hit the dirt.

"Finally, some quiet," Adrian shrugged, shaking the dirt and mud off his fingers.

He then turned his focus to Garath and Tim, who were standing a few feet away. The look of shock on their faces was unmistakable. They were clearly taken aback that Adrian had just killed their employer, and they hadn’t even had a chance to react.

While Garath had an unreadable expression, Tim was clearly taken aback as he wasn’t expecting Adrian to be that strong.

"What? You got something to say?" Adrian asked calmly, his eyes cold as he looked at the two men.

Garath stared at Adrian for a moment before breaking into a slow clap. It took Adrian by surprise as it was the last thing he was expecting from them.

"Impressive," he said with a twisted kind of admiration. "It’s rare to find someone with your kind of... potential."

"I’ve been looking for a challenge," Garath continued, stepping forward and cracking his whip. "Someone worth hunting. And it looks like I’ve found my prey."

"And here I thought you’d be too scared to move," Adrian taunted, shaking his head with a cold smile. "But don’t worry. By the time I’m done with you, you won’t be moving at all."
