Chapter 231: Wrapping Up (1)

Henry’s eyes were fixed on the glowing screen, his mind struggling to process the notification that flashed before him, a message that seemed to defy all logic...

[The dungeon has been conquered!]

[The transdimensional gates will close in thirty minutes!]

"How is this possible..." he mumbled absentmindedly.

Adrian had actually done it. He had defeated the boss monster, just like he said he would. Henry thought he would get rid of Adrian by locking him up with a seemingly undefeatable monster. But his overconfidence backfired, and now they were on the verge of losing everything.

But even then, all wasn’t lost. Adrian might have defeated the boss, but there was no way he was getting out of the barrier he had placed. It would be his win as long as the dungeon closed while Adrian was trapped inside.

’Breaking through that barrier is next to impossible. I’ve had the ghost soldiers test them out, and none of them could even make a dent in it.’

That thought brought some peace to the chaotic situation. However, Henry knew better than to leave things of logic and wanted to prepare for every scenario.

"Everyone, we need to move! Grab the experimental data from the servers and get out of here!" he shouted at everyone.

Since the fire had been spreading, they had all been working to save as much data as they could, so Henry’s order wasn’t new to them. However, the urgency in his voice forced them to work at top speed.

Following the instructions, the researchers and technicians scrambled to obey, their movements frantic as they hurried to collect the valuable data before the dungeon sealed itself shut.

But as they worked, a sudden commotion erupted behind them. Henry turned to see a massive chunk of the wall burst forth, crushing a guard and one of the computers in its path.

"Who the hell- no way..."

His eyes widened in shock as he noticed the figure smirking outside the room. As Adrian stepped inside through the broken wall, it felt like Henry’s worst nightmare had come true.

"Missed me?" he asked, looking at the men there.

"How are you alive?" Henry yelled at Adrian as if it was his mistake for not dying.

"You’re surprised? I thought you said your beloved goddess told you everything about my skills?" Adrian replied, looking genuinely surprised. "But then I guess someone like her couldn’t care less about her followers."

"...what about the barrier? How did you get out of it?" Henry asked, gritting his teeth.

"Oh, that," Adrian shrugged. "I just happened to break through the roof instead of going out the door. I thought there was no way you’d be this stupid to leave the ceiling unprotected, but it worked, and here I am."

Henry’s mind raced as he tried to make sense of the situation. Adrian had somehow accomplished what no one else could, not once but twice. It defied all logic, all reason.

"Why are you doing this-"

"No, no, no, we could have talked before you tried to off me," Adrian interrupted Henry, brandishing his sword. "There will be no talks now."

"So be it," Henry replied, wielding his own sword.

The next moment, the two charged at each other, their swords colliding. Henry had to be the strongest man in the dungeon, but before Adrian, he was slowly being pushed back.

However, Henry managed to kick Adrian away for some much-needed respite. Unfortunately, Adrian came back stronger than before. Those around the duo realised Henry would lose before Adrian if they didn’t do anything and launched themselves into the fray.

Sadly, it was the worst decision they could have made, as Adrian decimated all of them using [Minon Fury]. Blood and severed limbs scattered all around them as the men collapsed, either dead or on the verge of it.

The sight of his fallen subordinates filled Henry with rage, and he rushed towards Adrian, attacking him in a blind rage.

"Monster! You’re a monster!" he yelled, swinging his sword.

"Says the one who was busy making mindless terrorists for personal gain," Adrian replied, backhanding him into a corner. "I’ll let the world decide who the actual monster is-"

"Like hell, you will!"

Their swords clashed again and again. But despite his skill, Henry struggled to gain the upper hand. Adrian fought with a ferocity that surprised him and made him wonder if Adrian was actually a rookie, as everyone claimed.

Suddenly, Adrian disappeared from his sight. Henry got confused. He could still sense his presence, but only faintly.

"You petty tricks won’t work on me!" Henry yelled as his eyes began to glow.

It was one of the skills bestowed upon him when he became the goddess’s follower—the all-seeing eye. Henry could see them, even if faintly, as long as he had seen someone, and they were present around him.

As soon as he activated the skill, he noticed black armour and a flash of red. It seemed Adrian had equipped some gear in the short interval he had bought by disappearing.

Henry jumped in the air when he noticed Adrian going for his legs. But the moment he jumped, Adrian’s hand shot out, grabbing Henry by the shoulder and tossing him out of the chamber and into the half-burnt halls.

Henry quickly got back to his feet, only for Adrian to kick him in the face. Before Henry could shake off the pain, Adrian grabbed him by the neck and slapped him hard across the face, drawing blood.

[Gauntlet skill: Obsidian Grasp has been activated.]

[The target will remain immobilised for 5 seconds.]

Upon receiving confirmation, Adrian rained hell upon Henry. Five seconds might seem a short time, but for someone like Adrian, it was more than enough to make quick work of Henry.

By the time he was done, Henry had been reduced to a bloody pulp, unable to fight back. But just to make sure, Adrian shattered all the bones in his arms, before dropping him to the floor.

"That dungeon boss, you people did something with it, didn’t you?" Adrian asked, but Henry just smiled back, spitting out a mouthful of blood.

"Go... fuck... yourself," Henry eventually mumbled, still smiling.

"So, I guess I’ll have to find my answer elsewhere," Adrian replied, patting the man’s swollen chest before crushing it in one blow. "Oh, and don’t forget to keep a seat warm in hell for your priestess. She and everyone else from your guild will be there soon."
