Chapter 210: Make You Suffer (2)

Adrian raised his arm to do the one thing he had been itching to do for the last few years and beat the shit out of Joseph. However, a familiar voice rang out just before he was about to hit him.

"Adrian, is that you..."

Adrian turned to see Ava, his mother, standing in the doorway. Her eyes darted between her two sons and then her bruised husband. It didn’t take a genius to know what might have gone down there.

Ava knew Joseph and Jacob might have done something to anger Adrian, and now they were in that state.

Still, as their mother, she couldn’t see Adrian harming his little brother, no matter what he might have done to him. However, Adrian didn’t think the same and saw her as a mere enemy. Nothing more.

Adrian’s gaze softened for a moment as he saw his mother, torn between his desire for vengeance and his love for her. But then, his expression hardened once more when he realised she wasn’t any better than them.

"Of course, you’re here as well. I almost forgot about you for a moment, egg donor," Adrian scoffed, refusing to acknowledge Ava as his mother. "What do you want now? I’d have to disappoint you if you came here to beg for your son’s life."

Although the words stung Ava, she knew she had to push through and make Adrian see sense before he did something he might regret later. Unfortunately, Adrian wasn’t in the mood to listen to reason.

All Adrian saw was blood he was out for, and nothing would stop him from getting what he wanted. Not even his sorry excuse of a mother.

"As big of a failure you are," Adrian taunted Ava, walking up to her and dragging Joseph with him. "I’ll give you the benefit of the doubt before I put you in your place. Do you know what they tried to do to me?"

"No, Adrian, I swear I had no idea," Ava shook her head. "But please, don’t hurt them. Let’s find another way to solve this mess. Like the family you wanted us-"

"Yeah, I wanted a family. Look where it got me!" Adrian screamed at the top of his lungs. "It took me years to realise this was never my family. It was always yours. My only family died with my father all those years ago!

Yet I fooled myself into thinking someday, some-fucking-day, everyone would come to their senses, and we’ll be happy!"

With nothing holding him back, Adrian continued unleashing everything he ever wanted to say to them, especially his mother, but never got the chance to.

"I used to make excuses for you when you never showed up during my time of need, but you were always there for Joseph or Jacob. Do you have any idea how hard it was for me to be constantly ignored by the one person I cared more for than my life?"

"While you were busy playing a happy family, I was left isolated all that time. Even when I created my own happiness, being the bitch you are, you took it all away from me and handed it over to your golden child! Do you realise how fucked up that is!?"

Hearing all this, Ava couldn’t take it anymore and burst into tears. She knew she had been the worst mother to Adrian. But the realisation came too late. He had moved past caring for them.

If only they had left him be, then he wouldn’t be here breaking man after man to teach them a lesson that the morons were hell-bent on not learning.

He wanted to make his time on earth peaceful. But time and time again, Jacob and Joseph tried to ruin it for him, and it was his breaking point when Amelia got injured because of them.

Had it not been for Aphrodite’s cloak, he’d probably be dead, along with Sophia and Amelia. Still, his mother had the gall to protect Joseph? That was when he knew he had to get rid of them by any means necessary.

"...I’m sorry, son, I failed you-" Ava mumbled between sobs, but Adrian didn’t care.

"You still have the audacity to call me your son when you were never my mother, and now I’m supposed to believe your crocodile tears when you beg me to spare your golden bastard!?"

"I-I..."

"You never cared for me, did you? You only kept me around for the things I could bring to you and your family. That’s it, isn’t it?"

"No, no, no! That’s not it-"

"Then why? Why would you choose them over me?" Adrian asked, resentment leaking from his voice. "After everything they’ve done to me, you still want me to forgive them?"

Ava was taken aback. On one hand, she knew she couldn’t condone their actions, but she also couldn’t bear to see Adrian succumb to the rage within him.

"Adrian, please," she begged, holding his legs as she didn’t know what else to say. "Don’t let this anger consume you. There’s still goodness in your heart. I know it!-"

"What heart are you talking about?" Adrian shook his head, pushing Ava away. "The Adrian knew you died a long time ago. I’m not the pushover he was. Your tears would no longer manipulate me into doing whatever you pleased."

"Please, son! Don’t do this-"

"It’s too late for that," he said calmly. "I won’t let them get away with what they’ve done. Not when it comes to my friends."

With that, Adrian turned around and seized Joseph by the arms. Adrian used all his strength and crushed everything from bone and ligaments beneath Joseph’s fingers.

"You’ll never take anything from me ever again," Adrian sneered while Joseph cried in pain, tears pouring out of his bloodshot eyes as his arms were turned into a mashed potato from the inside.

Emma watched in horror as blood shot out of Joseph’s fingers, unable to handle the pressure anymore. A moment later, she collapsed from fear, wondering what Adrian would do to her.

As Adrian finally released Joseph, leaving him broken and bloodied on the floor, he turned to face Ava once more. His eyes burned fiercely, and his voice was menacing, unlike any child would ever use with their mother.

"This is your punishment," he said, his words echoing in the silent room. "Remember it well."
