Chapter 194: Dracotaurus (2)

Cracking its tail like a whip, the abomination of a creature struck first. Adrian didn’t move from his spot until the last second and swung the whip with all his might.

The creature had gotten too close and couldn’t dodge the attack aimed towards its eyes. The following second, following a scream, the beast suddenly came to a halt, losing its balance and falling sideways as the whip struck its eyes, rupturing them.

’Might as well.’

With the beast’s eyes gone, it began thrashing around, both in pain and anger. Getting closer to the creature became a problem once the Dracotaurus began spewing fire everywhere.

But something was off.

’How the hell is a simulated creature letting out real flames?’

In the previous matches, Adrian’s suit simulated pain and other combat details. But unlike before, he knew the flames coming out of the beast were real because he would feel the heat and the disruption in the simulated place when the ’trees’ caught fire.

’Now that I think about it... I remember seeing a magic circle before the creature appeared. Did someone summon the real deal?’

Adrian didn’t know whether the summoning was intentional but decided to go along with it. But to do that, he needed to increase his range and know exactly what to do.

Adrian retrieved the broadsword from his inventory and wrapped the whip around the blade’s handle. He’d have loved to use [Blood Mist] and end the fight in an instant, but he wanted to keep some cards hidden in case of emergencies.

"What is he doing?" James mumbled under his breath as the higher-ups watched on.

James and the rest got their answers at the following moment. Adrian began to swing the whip with both hands, with the sword attached to the very end.

"Taking a page out of Taurus’s book," Seraphina smiled as Adrian struck the beast again. "Yeah, only you can think of something so absurd."

Adrain swung the whip aimed at Dracotaurus’s head. But the creature managed to dodge the strike based on its instinct. However, the beast wasn’t aware of the extended reach, and the sword managed to graze its bare chest.

Without wasting time, Adrian undid the sword and the whip before using the whip to jump into the air with the help of a tree, Tarzan style. The blind creature kept attacking the ground, unaware of its prey’s whereabouts.

The Dracotaurus, its senses dulled by blindness and Adrian’s unpredictable attacks, remained unaware of his approach.

Adrian landed squarely on its back a moment later with a thud, his feet sinking into the tough, scaly hide. But as soon as he made contact, the beast erupted into a frenzy.

Adrian clenched his teeth, gripping the whip wrapped around the creature’s neck for dear life as it thrashed and bucked, attempting to throw him off.

The Dracotaurus even used its massive tail, aiming to knock Adrian off its back. But Adrian was ready. He drew his sword with lightning reflexes and brought it down, slicing cleanly through the tail.

A loud howl echoed through the chamber as the Dracotaurus reeled in agony, blood gushing from the stump where its tail once was. Seizing the opportunity, Adrian wasted no time.

While the severed tail twitched on the ground, he lunged forward, tightening his whip around the creature’s thick neck. The Dracotaurus thrashed and roared, knowing it would be the end if it didn’t react.

But Adrian held firm, his grip unyielding as he tightened the whip around the beast’s throat. With a primal roar, he pulled the whip with all his might, channelling every ounce of strength into his arms.

"U-Unbelievable!" One of the higher-ups couldn’t remain seated any longer. "Never have I seen someone attempt to put down a Draconic beast with pure strength."

"Indeed... this lad is special, I can feel it."

Meanwhile, Mei, who had gone through the same trial, remembered it took her over an hour to figure out the creature’s weakness and more than twice that long to defeat it.

Yet Adrian figured out the weakness and struck it with extreme precision. It almost felt like he had been fighting against Dracotauruses all his life. Otherwise, she couldn’t explain how he reduced a creature like that into a mess in under a minute.

’Beyond S-rank, huh? There might be some truth to it after all...’ Mei thought, letting a rare smile grace her lips.

Their thoughts were interrupted by a loud crack sound. Adrian had snapped the Dracotaurus’s neck like a twig, its massive form collapsing on the ground as its soul left its body.

Adrian stood victorious over the creature, and as he looked at the prompts before him, he realised it was indeed a summoned draconic creature, not a simulation or else it’d have disappeared following his victory.

’Not to mention the experience I gained.’

[You have killed a Dracotaurus! Exp +5100]

[Accumulated Exp: 7150/--]

Adrian wiped the sweat from his brow, his eyes still on the lifeless form of the Dracotaurus.

’Such a shame I can’t store the corpse away to use later...’ Arian thought, side-eyeing the people around. ’Thankfully, I have something else to look forward to.’
