The messages kept flashing one after the other. But the system wasn’t the only one high of substances. The entities were excited as well. Something big was about to happen.

’Gotta get out of here,’ Adrian thought and rushed towards his room without saying a word.

Everyone was surprised to see Adrian run away like that, especially A’Mila. Thinking something might be off, she followed him and found him shirtless as he locked the windows while Fenris stood beside him.

"Good thing you’re here!" Adrian exclaimed before jumping on the bed. "I need your help."

A’Mila’s cheeks flushed at the sight of Adrian lying shirtless on the bed. Her imagination began to run wild, wondering what kind of help he could possibly need in such a situation.

"Uh, sure, Adrian. What do you need help with?" A’Mila asked, her face red as the setting sun.

"I’ll tell you, just get over here already!"

A’Mila got lost in her thoughts. It was the first time she had seen Adrian act with such excitement. Although she was old, her appearance remained young. That may be why Adrian saw her in that light and was excited.

’But I’m the matriarch-’

As A’Mila thought that, her mind went back to the meeting. She won’t be the matriarch for long, so her life of celibacy won’t be valid anymore. Therefore, she would be free to pursue anyone she likes.

"Are you sure you want to do this?" A’Mila asked, trying to sound composed despite the heat rising to her cheeks. "There are plenty of others who would gladly do it for you. You know, like Sophia and that elf..."

"I mean, yeah, they are strong, but there can’t be anyone better than you for this," Adrian said, smiling back at her.

With her cheeks visibly red now, A’Mila slowly climbed on the bed beside him and was about to take her top off when Adrian jumped up.

"W-What are you d-doing?" he stuttered, covering his eyes. "Why are you taking your clothes off!?"

"What do you m-mean!?" A’Mila yelled back. "You’re the one who wanted this!"

"You’re wrong! I never said I wanted this! Not like I’d mind it or anything, but no! It’s not the time for... this, whatever it is!"

"B-But you said you needed my help," she stammered, feeling utterly embarrassed.

"I meant to help protect me, not... not like that," he said, trying to defuse the situation. "I just need you to stay close and make sure nothing happens to me while I’m unconscious. Can you do that?"

Suddenly, all embarrassment disappeared from her mind when Adrian said he needed protection. Her demeanour changed from that of a young woman on her first night to that of the matriarch Adrian knew.

"Protect you? What do you mean?"

"I need you to help protect my body when I fall unconscious," Adrian said, turning serious, mirroring A’Mila’s expression.

"Wait a moment, what do you mean you’ll be unconscious?" she asked, her concern growing. "How do you know-"

[Harmony Trial will start in 32 seconds.]

Adrian sighed, realising he didn’t have time to explain everything in detail, so he cut her off and gave her only the information she needed.

"It’s a long story, but I might be in danger, and I need someone to watch over me while I’m out cold."

A’Mila was still worried but nodded without hesitation, "Of course, Adrian. I’ll do whatever it takes to keep you safe. But I’ll need a thorough explanation later!"

"Sure-"

Before Adrian could say what he wanted, his head suddenly drooped forward, and he slumped against her thigh, unconscious.

"Adrian?" A’Mila sighed, shaking her head in disbelief. "Well, this was embarrassing..."

Fenris came sniffing at Adrian, bringing A’Mila out of her embarrassment.

"He’ll be fine, Fen," A’Mila mumbled, scratching the beast’s head. "Don’t worry about him."

Meanwhile, Adrian was back in a familiar place. The first place he visited as a Chimaera... the Minotaur’s Dungeon.

"What am I doing here?" Adrian mumbled as he opened his status page.
