Chapter 121: Rock And A Hard Place (3)

The tribals roared in agreement. It had been a while since they had had any new heroes as their slaves, and they were excited to taste the new delicacies, especially the women, who appeared to be quite enticing.

Vinect frowned. He wanted to save Sophia at least, as he couldn’t bear the thought of what the savage bastards would do to her. However, it seemed impossible.

As much as he cherished Sophia if it ever came down to a choice between them, he would always put himself first. He would mourn her absence, but he was confident he could find another woman who’d be more than willing to fill the void in his heart.

’But I’d need to get out of here first...’ Vincent thought.

They were two against over a hundred tribals, not counting the beasts they had brought with them. The chances of their victory were negligible, especially after the ordeal they had gone through inside the cave.

If the tribes had been there without their beasts, they could have done something about it. But now running was their only option. However, Vincent decided to be smart about it.

"Grab the girls and run inside the cave when I say," Vincent whispered to Clara, who nodded.

Clara didn’t know what Vincent was trying to accomplish, but her blind trust in him made her follow his every command.

"NOW!" Vincent yelled and dashed towards Ahuli while Clara grabbed the girls.

He had planned to lock the girls up in the cave and then negotiate with Ahuli. He would get the girls in exchange for his safety with the promise of more elven slaves later. He knew the tribe wouldn’t refuse his request, but unfortunately, his plan never manifested.

Before Clara could reach the girls, Ahuli’s spear hit her in the shoulder. Vincent slipped, and it looked like he had lunged at the unarmed Ahuli but was kicked away by him, colliding with Clara.

Ahuli stood over Vincent and Clara, who lay bruised and defeated at his feet. He sighed before squatting to get to their level.

"You two are resilient, I’d give you that," he remarked, his voice filled with ’respect’. "But ultimately, it was all in vain. You belong to me now. The sooner you get that into your head, the easier it’ll be for you."

Vincent groaned, struggling to sit up, hoping to move forward with his plan. But when Ahuli saw him move, he was amused. Ahuli then grabbed his head and slammed it into the ground, drawing blood.

"You wanted to say something?" Ahuli asked before repeatedly slamming Vincent’s head to the ground.

Watching the scene, Clara couldn’t hold back and tried to grab Vincent, only to get backhanded by Ahuli.

"Wait till you turn," he smirked. "Let me teach your man a lesson first."

"Do what you will," Clara spat defiantly. "But we’ll never submit to you."

"Oh, you will," Ahuli replied ominously, toying with her bloodied lips. "Resistance is futile. You’re all mine, body and soul."

With a cruel smile, Ahuli left them there, walking up to Amelia, knowing his hold over them was absolute.

"I’ve been waiting too long for your arrival, Elenion’s daughter," Ahuli whispered, pushing the stray strand of hair off her beautiful face. "Someone like you will be perfect to bear my seed. Once that’s done, the rest can enjoy you."

Someone like Ahuli had no interest in relationships. However, it was his duty as the Chieftain to leave an heir behind. But he didn’t want to mate with just anyone, as he wanted his children to be stronger than him and anyone in the tribe.

It was the primary reason he formed a ’relationship’ with the Church. He knew if anyone could bear his child, it would have to be the heroes.

Ahuli wanted only one of them in exchange for helping the Church. But Skaha had also implored him to bestow such privilege on the others. After all, a tribe of mixed-blooded heroes would be unstoppable, and they would conquer the remaining tribes with ease.

At first, Ahuli was hesitant. But under constant pressure from Skaha, he relented, turning the tribe into what it was now.

It was difficult for him to find a suitable candidate for mating, and that’s when he heard about an elf with the blood of a goddess in her from the slaves. At that moment, Ahuli decided that Amelia would be the mother of his children.

"After years of waiting, it’s finally time..." Ahuli got up, lifting Amelia in his arms. "I’m leaving with her. Do what you will with the rest."

The tribals nodded. They had a pretty good idea of what they would do to them. Unfortunately for them, things did not go as planned.

As soon as Ahuli turned his back on Clara, she retrieved a vial from her inventory and threw it at him. The vial broke upon contact, and its content spread everywhere.

Angrily turning around, Ahuli was ready to end Clara when his vision went blurry. His eyes felt heavy, and it took all his willpower to keep them partially open.

His feet, however, gave away, and he fell on his knees, letting go of Amelia and collapsing. The vial was filled with a liquid sleeping agent that the heroes used against some boss-grade monster to knock them out. Unsurprisingly, even the mighty Ahuli was no match against a little chemical.

Vincent made his move while the tribesmen were confused. He took Ahuli hostage while Clara dragged Amelia back to safety. Thanks to their overconfidence, the tables had turned, and now Vincent’s sword was pointing at Ahuli’s neck.

"Kill them!" Skaha roared at the top of his lungs, but Vincent laughed.

"Be my guest," he replied. "Sure, I’ll die, but I would be taking your Chieftain to hell with me! That’s what will happen unless you feel generous enough to clear a path for us to leave."

Vincent’s words silenced the tribe. Ahuli’s life was more important to them than some slaves. So they begrudgingly stepped back. They were still wondering what to do next when the bloodied Adrian emerged behind the heroes, catching everyone off guard.

With a swift motion, he knocked Vincent out cold, sending him crumpling to the ground. Clara’s eyes widened in shock as she didn’t believe what Adrian just did.

"What are you doing!?" she yelled.

"I’m protecting my chieftain," Adrian replied, his voice hoarse and disguised.

"What-?"

Not wanting Clara to spill the beans about his identity, Adrian moved towards her, his hand reaching out to silence her. With a quick strike, he knocked her out, leaving her unconscious on the ground.

The tribe members watched in stunned silence as Adrian stood over Vincent and Clara. But the silence didn’t last long as they rushed towards Ahuli to ensure he was alive, which he was.
