Chimaera's Conquest: The Legend Of The Devourer -
Chapter 104: Familiar (2)
Chapter 104: Familiar (2)
After walking for a few minutes, they finally arrived at the place where the Tiaks were kept and trained. It was the first time Adrian had seen so many of them freely running around, as the last time he had been there, they had been locked within their sectors.
There were Tiaks of a variety of colours, ranging from the deepest shade of black to the alluring white. Moreover, each Tiak had its unique abilities and characteristics, making it a formidable force.
While Adrian was looking at the majestic creatures, a loud barking noise was heard from the room’s far end. He turned around and saw three enormous wolves fighting with a handful of men.
Their jaws looked fearsome as they tried to bite one of the men but failed as another tribal member jumped between, pushing the beast away. Upon a closer look, Adrian realised it was Ahuli.
"They are all wild beasts. We still need to tame them," Skaha pointed at the wolves with his staff when he noticed Adrian’s gaze on them. "Primal wolves... extremely resilient creatures. A bit more dangerous than conventional direwolves."
He continued, "Even the most experienced hunters have a hard time taming them. With their razor-sharp fangs and unmatched strength, these wolves are a force to be reckoned with, as you can see."
Another beast lunged to bite someone and almost got away with it as well, but instead, Ahuli whipped it.
"It wouldn’t have been much of a problem if we could somehow tame their leader, as the other two are following his lead," Skaha continued, ignoring the commotion. "But as you can see, we’ve had little success taming them."
"The leader?" Suhi asked while his eyes were still focused on the wolves.
Adrian found it strange that someone as old as the Advisor didn’t know about the creatures they were training. Then it hit him.
Suhi might have known about the creatures, but since Milka had lost his memories, he didn’t. As his son couldn’t talk, he couldn’t ask the question himself, so Suhi asked the question instead.
At that moment, Adrian felt a tinge of guilt. Suhi’s love for his son made him realise that he had separated a loving father from his son.
But Adrian pushed that thought out of his head when he recalled the depraved crap he indulged himself in. Why should he feel guilty for killing a piece of shit?
"Yes, the leader. It’s in the middle, the big white one with a black snout. Can you see him?" Skaha pointed at the one he mentioned. "We call them the commander wolves."
Suhi and Adrian nodded, and Skaha continued, "Among Tiaks and Wolves, it is assumed that the lighter their fur, the stronger they are, but it is the opposite regarding speed.
In other words, the white wolf is stronger than the rest but lacks agility. At least that would be the case if it wasn’t an aberrated monster."
"I have heard about Aberrated monsters before," Suhi chimed in. "If I’m not wrong, the Chief caught one such creature in his teenage."
"Yes, I did," Skaha puffed his chest as Suhi reminded him of the past. "Milka, can you see the bright spot on its black snout? That is a symbol of aberration."
Adrian nodded. It was impossible not to spot the leader, even if he had tried, as it was twice as big as the others. He then began paying attention to their chat. According to Skaha, aberrated monsters were more dangerous than the usual ones.
The white wolf before them was already stronger than other wolves, but being aberrated made it the strongest primal wolf the Tulkas had ever captured. But while they had captured them, taming them was a different tale.
"That’s interesting..." Suhi remarked.
"But it doesn’t look like they’ll be able to tame them," Skaha commented. "Taming these creatures is a complex process that requires patience, skill, and a deep understanding of their nature. Now that Ahuli is here, it should be doable."
"It’ll be our pleasure to witness the glorious moment," Suhi replied before giving Skaha a quick nod.
"I’m sure Ahuli would be pleased to have an audience. But for now, let’s leave the wolves to the experts and find you a suitable Tiak." Skaha ushered them inside one of the hidden stables.

"They appear to be quite bigger than usual," Suhi commented, and they entered a forbidden sector.
"They are because all of these Tiaks are aberrated," Skaha replied. "These Tiaks are kept for special warriors of the tribe, and anyone, even Ahuli, requires my permission to enter this place."
’A place that’s forbidden to the chief,’ Adrian thought. ’This place will come in handy later.’
As Adrian looked around, he realised the Tiaks there weren’t roaming around like the ones before, and each had a separate living place, unlike the other sectors he had visited.
They continued to walk and walk. They must have crossed about a hundred Tiaks, all of different colours and sizes. But Skaha didn’t stop.
It looked like he had a special Tiak in mind for Adrian. Soon, it became clear to him what Skaha was looking for... the weakest but most agile Tiaks.
Adrian knew it because as they continued going deeper and deeper into the enclosure, the colour of the Tiaks got deeper. Skaha didn’t stop walking until he reached the end, where all the Tiaks with jet-black skin were kept.
’Well... I thought I would at least be able to get a Midnight or a navy blue one. But I guess I’ll just have to make do with whatever I get my hands on,’ Adrian thought as they finally came to a halt.
The Tiak in front of them was black, but it was by far the tallest Tiak he had seen all day. The black stallion had a crimson-red mane that started from his head and ended at the tip of his tail. A white stripe in the middle of his head went all the way to his upper lip.
"I know what you are thinking, young one. This is Huruk, the strongest black Tiak our beast enclosures have to offer." Skaha beamed with pride, "I have carefully raised him since he was a little foal. Ah... those were good times..."
However, it seemed Huruk was too excited to greet them and jumped over the tall fence and stood right next to Adrian.
All six eyes of the Tiak were fixated on Adrian. Suhi stood behind Skaha on the other side of the Tiak, looking frightened. It looked like Skaha wanted to tell Adrian something, but instead of uttering a word, he used signs to communicate.
Unfortunately, Adrian didn’t understand the signals and stepped backwards, enraging the beast, who struck Adrian with all its might.
