Chapter 95: Nothing Left!
Claire’s POV
I was stunned, as I had never expected Evander to share our relationship with anyone. If only he did that in the past.
However, now that I was getting to know him slowly, I could understand why he was so reluctant for anyone to know about me, let alone show me off to the world.
He was trying to protect me all this time. And I was indulgent in my own insecurities and fear that I couldn’t even get to know how his life had been in the past.
I blinked, my emotions tangling into a knot that I couldn’t put my finger on. Flattered? Annoyed? Overwhelmed? I couldn’t decide. The words spilled out before I could stop them. "Mr. Storme... I am not sure what you have heard, but there is nothing left between me and Mr. Kensington. Whatever we had... it’s over."
Damian tilted his head, his sharp eyes scanning my face as if trying to read something I hadn’t said aloud. Then he shrugged lightly, so casually that he didn’t care at all. "Maybe from your side. But that doesn’t change who you are, Claire. You will always be someone special in Evander’s heart and for me too."
"And if Evander was too blind to see that, well..." He trailed off, leaving the rest unsaid, though the meaning was clear. "That’s his loss."
For a moment, all I could do was stare at him. His words, so genuine and completely unfiltered, caught me off guard. I wasn’t used to this—being seen, being acknowledged. It stirred something in me.
Damian broke the tension with a quick gesture toward the hallway. "Come on," he said, his voice light again. "This building isn’t going to navigate itself."
I nodded, hesitating for just a beat before following him. My thoughts swirled, his words replaying in my mind.
You’ll always be someone special in Evander’s heart.
Well, let’s not focus on Damian’s words too much for now; I needed to sign the contract, and I needed full focus on the matter at hand.

Evander’s POV
I had just arrived at the location after Damian’s text. He had told me Claire was already here, but I didn’t know how to face her —after all, I had been avoiding her ever since that night. The night I had broken down in her arms.
To her, I had always been cold, detached, and dangerous. That was the image I had worked hard to maintain. But now? I didn’t know what she thought of me. Did she see me as weak? Did she pity me? The questions had been eating away at me.
I was about to enter the building when I heard a familiar voice. Damian. My eyes instinctively followed him as he walked toward someone. He seemed excited, his eyes were full of curious glint, and when I realized where he was heading, my body tensed.
Claire?
That bastard! He had tricked me. She hadn’t even arrived, and he told me that Claire was already there. My fists clenched as I considered marching over and strangling him on the spot, but I froze when I overheard their conversation.
I hadn’t meant to eavesdrop, but the words hit me like a cold storm.
Claire had told Damian that there was nothing left between us.
My chest tightened painfully. Each word from her lips felt like a dagger, but I couldn’t tear myself away.
Nothing left?
Damn it! She was wrong— so wrong. She didn’t know how much she meant to me or how much I needed her. My mind screamed at me to storm over, to tell her she was wrong and that no matter what she believed, I wasn’t giving up on her.
I cursed under my breath and turned to leave, my emotions churning inside me. But just as quickly as It came, I stopped myself. No. Running wasn’t the answer—not this time.
I wasn’t the same cold, ignorant man I had been before. I couldn’t let her think that’s all I was. Not anymore.
I walked ahead and entered the building with determination fueling each step. My mind raced. I didn’t have a plan in my mind... I didn’t know what I was going to say or do... but one thing was clear: I needed to see her. To show her we weren’t just allies in the fight against Gloria. We were connected deeply and undeniably.
As soon as I stepped inside, an uneasy feeling crept over me. It was subtle but unmistakable. The sensation of being watched. I paused, scanning the area, my eyes darting across the lobby. There was nothing out of place, no one suspicious in sight, but the feeling lingered.
However, I dismissed the discomfort. I didn’t have time to get caught up in paranoia—not when Claire was so close.
As I made my way down the corridor, I saw them through the glass wall of Damian’s office. Claire and Damian were standing together, and his face was twisted into a grin that made me want to punch him. That smug, creepy smile of his was enough to push my patience to the edge.
How dare he get so close to my Claire!?
Without hesitation, I stormed into the office, the door slamming behind me. Damian looked up, his grin widening as if he had been expecting me.
"So, here you are!" I said sharply, my tone cutting through the tension in the room. I barely spared Claire a glance, though every fiber of my being ached to look at her. There were others in the room, and I couldn’t let them make things hard for her after getting linked with me.
She was starting her career from scratch, and the rumor about getting entangled with me was the last thing she needed.
"My dear friend," Damian floated toward me, his low-pitched tone grating on my nerves. He stepped forward as his arms were stretched, all ready to hug me.
