Chapter 36: The Person Susan Hated The Most!
Susan’s POV
"Ahh!" I screamed, letting out all my frustration, shoving anything in my way. I was furious. That woman—Claire! She was back in the country! After everything I did to get her out of the picture, after everything I sacrificed, she was here again, stronger than before!
In the past, she was easy to manipulate, too naive to see through me. But now? No matter what I tried, I knew it wouldn’t work the same way. She would never believe a word I said, and I knew she had come for Evander. She was going to take him from me, and that thought drove me mad.
"Oh my God! What is all this?" Angel, my manager, burst into the room after hearing the loud noises but stopped in shock as she looked at the mess I had created.
"How dare she go for an audition!" I snapped as I paced around in the room, still fuming. "Does Claire think she can just walk into the entertainment industry like that? Over my dead body! Ban her. I don’t want to see her face anywhere near this industry!"
"Calm down, Susan!" Angel said as she picked up a flower vase— one of the gifts from producer J— that I had hurled across the room. "That was from J. You can’t just throw his things around like that."
"Why shouldn’t I?" I shot back. "All he wants is for me to warm his bed. Haven’t I given him enough already?"
Angel held the vase in her hand and hesitated, but then she said "But he has still got connections, Susan. He can help you move up."
I rolled my eyes as I grabbed a cigarette from the side drawer and lit it, the smoke easing my nerves. "He is a B-lister. I am an A-lister now. I don’t need him."
Angel sighed. She looked clearly fed up, but I could tell she could handle it. "Just make sure Claire’s done. I don’t want to hear her name again."
As I spoke, I closed my eyes, remembering the night Claire came back. I had been at that charity event too, mostly for my film promotions, hoping to get a little extra attention. But to my annoyance, they had banned cameras and press in the venue—not even a single flash in the entire charity hall. I nearly lost my mind at it! What was the point of going if I couldn’t even show off?
I was about to leave when I saw Evander. Just like that, my irritation melted away. I wanted to approach him and talk to him; sit by his side. But then I heard he would be presenting an award, so I decided to hold back, thinking I would meet him after the award was presented.
Finally, when it was his turn, I was focused on him, looking at his heavenly beauty. But as he stepped up, the name he called out was the last one I wanted to hear. The award went to Claire Reed. Of all people, he handed it to her— the woman I couldn’t stand.
Not only did he do that, but Evander went on to announce Claire as his wife right there in front of everyone. I felt a sharp pang in my chest, my throat tightening as I held back tears. I couldn’t ruin my makeup—I had a press conference right after this. But seeing them like that? I couldn’t just let it go.
For once, I was thankful that there was no media around, or the whole world would have known that Claire was his wife and I would have become a joke in front of everyone.
I knew exactly where Evander was going— his home! It was the one place where he had never let me in before. I remembered how desperately I wished to go inside to see it, and I finally got inside. I had to use Eliam to do it, and I was not ashamed of it at all! After all... this was what I wanted.
I believed in getting things by hook or by crook! When I found no entry in his life, I showed my the truth behind Eliam’s misery, though some of them were orchestrated by me.
Now, after doing all these things, I couldn’t let Claire take that chance away from me again. She had come back into the picture, and I felt like I was losing my grip on Evander. I had to think quickly and find a way to get to him before she did. I couldn’t let her walk into his life like she had before. This time, I needed to show him how much of a bitch Claire was!
I would show Evander that not only him but also Eliam needed me—his mother! After all, that was what I trained him to call me all these years.
I urgently called Mrs. Kensington and urged her to send Eliam to me. Although he was sleeping, I could tell she would wake him after hearing Claire’s name, and that was what she did!
Mrs. Kensington, Evander’s mother, delivered Eliam right at Evander’s mansion. I taught the little bastard to call me mother and act all loving in front of me. I even threatened him that he would never be able to see his father if he didn’t do as I said.
Finally, I entered the mansion, and after what I saw through the glass window, I almost went crazy. Seeing the way they were standing so close, I couldn’t bear it as I sent Eliam inside first and then followed behind him.
Well... That wasn’t where I just stopped! I had sinister plans in my mind and I was going to make it happen but...
